Long time no see, hope everyone's been well. Thought I should at least put out a chapter before the end of the year. Please consider this a Christmas gift! May you and yours have a wonderful holiday. MG

Chapter Fourteen of Prophecy's Child

Making Time

Once the door was closed, Hinata pulled Naruto into a hug. "Welcome home hero." She smiled as he held her tighter. "It was a long time coming but you are now everyone's hero, not just mine. I love you Naruto." She whispered into his ear.

Naruto shivered. Though her words were true, and he was happy that the villagers now acknowledged him, he got the most pleasure knowing his wife loved him just for being him. "Me too." He pulled back to look at her lovely face.

She rubbed her hands up and down his back feeling fine tremors in his muscles. "You should go rest Naruto. The report can wait until tomorrow." Hinata reached up to cup his cheek.

Naruto turned his face to kiss her palm. "I'm not completely drained yet. We need some clones." He closed his eyes to concentrate.

"Naruto don't -!" But she felt his chakra join with hers. With a sigh, Hinata pulled away and they both made the hand signs for a shadow clone. "Please write our reports." She asked of the couple who nodded and took off for the small library. "You shouldn't have but thanks. Come on, let's find some food." With slow steps they moved to the kitchen.

Neither had the energy to fix a proper meal so they settled for quick food. Thankfully Naruto always kept ramen stocked. They found some fruit and made tea.

"It's too damn quiet." Naruto said as he got up to fix another cup of ramen. He tried the radio but there was only static. "Station must have got hit. Damn lucky we've got power. I'm going to put on a CD." He ran a hand down the silk of his wife's hair as he left the room.

Hinata wondered just how badly things were for everyone but could only be thankful that her husband and their family had survived this latest upset. She sipped her tea letting it relax her as music came over the house system. "I'm glad Hanabi missed all the action."

Naruto sat and stirred his ramen. "Yeah Father really surprised Chibi with this trip. I hope they both enjoyed it." He shook head trying to decide if being away and coming home to chaos was better than being here during the chaos. "I can't wait -." He paused then nodded. "The cousins are well, no major injuries. There was some damage to a couple of homes and power is spotty, but the estate is mostly in good shape. As for Ayame and TK's wedding, they're up for it but helping the village comes first." Naruto yawned. "We'll have to throw a big party later as a thank you since the wedding's going to be small." He bowed his head silently thanking Nagato for his change of heart. He could have lost some of his new family today.

"Mmm, that's a good…idea. We're in the kitchen baby." Hinata stood to open a window and Talon flew in seconds later. He chirruped happily glad to be home.

"As much as I want a bath I don't think I can stay awake for one. Let's go shower and sleep. We'll clean up the kitchen later." Naruto said grabbing his wife's hand. "Up you go Tal. Man, I've got get used to your new weight." He grinned, his featherhead could give an eagle some competition.

"Alright and there go our clones." Heavy steps got them upstairs. Weary moments got the dust and grime off then they almost literally fell into bed utterly exhausted.

~mg~

He entered his mindscape. It was pleasant, warm and fragrant. Naruto passed through the gates. The Nine-Tailed Fox was sitting up waiting for him. He stopped and stared up at him. There was no more fear, no more hate but a growing friendship. Naruto wished he could see his parents but took comfort that they could still hear him, be alive for him inside his new friend. Hey Kyubi. He smiled gently and walked over to the water, took off his sandals and put in his feet. Ahh…no matter how often I come here, I can't get over how real everything seems.

YOU FOUGHT AGAINST THE RINNEGAN AND WON. This was spoken in a matter of fact way not revealing in any way how the Nine-Tails felt.

Not really. Yeah, we fought proxies that had the Rinnegan and beat them but Nagato, we never truly fought. I think that if he'd been healthy and was able to use all those powers himself – it would have been a different story.

The fox was silent for a long moment before laying down and resting its head on his paws. The boy was probably right. Besides that, this Nagato had been entirely too selfish with his gift. The power of Sage of Six Paths was not to be wasted on an arrogant, selfish child. Huge red eyes contemplated Naruto.

The whole village was happy to see me, us – the three of us. Itachi, me and you Kyubi. Not that they said so, but I couldn't have done anything without your support. Naruto looked over his shoulder at the fox.

I DID NOT HELP IN THIS BATTLE. YOU USED YOUR SAGE POWER NOT CHAKRA FROM ME. Naruto deserved his victory.

I felt you and I always know you're there. You live inside me Kyubi, you share my life. Nothing I do is without you. So, we finally have recognition and acceptance from Konoha. Its real and now I'll believe it when people say they want me - us around. Naruto sighed as he looked at his bare feet in the clear water.

YOU SEEM MELANCHOLY. WHERE IS THE VICTORY THAT COMES WITH WINNING AND PRAISE?

It's a lot to take in, so many changes in one day. I'm a sage, my Talon now uses chakra on his own. There wasn't even time to enjoy these facts before the battle then everything that was said and done during the battle…I just don't know how to feel. I like thinking about Itachi finally being welcomed as the hero he's always been and about TK marrying the love of his life. I want to sit here with you and enjoy the peace. Feel close to my ma and pa while I sleep holding my lovely wife.

Us surviving this battle just means we have to prepare for the next. If only it had ended with Nagato. But we all know that even with the power he held, it was the other one, Madara or the guy in the mask that was truly in control. Naruto groaned and flopped backwards. My head hurts.

Kyubi let out a breath that ruffled Naruto's hair. THEN FORGET IT. YOU HAVE WON AGAINST A GREAT FOE. WORRY NOT ABOUT THE BATTLE TO COME, WE WILL FACE IT…TOGETHER. It was said with faith and so the great fox closed his eyes to rest.

Naruto sat up quickly and spun around. He grinned. The future was one big question mark. He didn't know how to do the things people expected of him. Still he knew what he wanted and who truly cared for him. The legendary Nine-Tailed Fox had faith in the two of them. With his brothers and sisters beside them, what couldn't they accomplish? He got up and moved to stand next to the fox. With one hand he stroked the giant head. Thanks, Kyubi. Then as he had in the real world, he settled down beside someone he loved and slept.

Clean, clear and rebuild. That was the mission for all Konoha. Still considering the power Nagato had wielded, it was miracle that the whole village wasn't destroyed. The gates and part of the wall was rubble and all the buildings within a ten-mile radius was dust. Most had homes to return to even if they required some major fixing up. Captain Yamato was drafted to make shelters for those with nowhere to go. Hawks were sent out asking builders and construction workers for help, work was guaranteed.

Kakashi much to his dismay found himself temporarily in charge but he had amble help from Shikaku and Ibiki. With their main defense down, they had to be sure the village was patrolled constantly. Anbu were enlisted for that while everyone else was busy rebuilding. Next to that, healers were much in demand. Takeshi's tears healed all those on the verge of death but there were still lots of wounds and broken bones not to mention those in shock. Each person dealt with it as best they could minute-by-minute, hour-by-hour.

Clan Naruto had it easy. The district had been left untouched so there was no cleanup to do. But they were busy. There was a wedding to get ready for. Lord Hiashi returned home dismayed at the half-destroyed village. His family was safe and there was only minimal damage to the Hyuga estate. But he'd been bemused to learn of the upcoming marriage. In between helping set the village to rights, he helped plan a wedding.

"So, this is the place?" Naruto asked as they came upon the building Sasuke had wanted to use for the wedding. He looked around. The brown grasses were over grown, and the building was unusable. "Too bad Kakashi's got Captain Yamato putting up temporary row houses. He could have made us a pretty special place, but we'll make do. First this building has to go." They had all come out to see what could be done.

"I was thinking we could build a simple platform for you to get married on right there with the lake behind you." Itachi said. "Seiko, the shop still has flowers and plants?"

"Yes, most everything survived. Momma's babying them to keep them healthy. Just tell me what type of flowers you'd like Ayame." Seiko wore a smile, happy to be included in the planning.

"Well, Naruto's already picked out the colors. Possibly a sunflower, white daises and red roses? You can help me decide okay?" Ayame was glowing. She would very soon be married! She linked her arm with Seiko and the two put their heads together discussing flowers.

"We can get chairs from the Academy and since this will be a smaller wedding than our own, I can probably handle the food." Hinata mused. "Do we have a lawn mower?" She asked suddenly as she looked over the area.

"I can handle some of it right now then we can borrow dad's. Stand back everyone." Naruto gestured them back.

"What are you…? Huh, not bad little brother!" Sasuke grinned as Naruto used his nature chakra to gently blow the building down then with blades of wind chopped down the high grasses. "Alright, let's get to work!"

It was early afternoon and by nightfall the remains of the building had been removed, the grass mowed neatly, the trees trimmed, and the platform built. Next, they set about decorating the guest house that had been built. It was there they would have the reception. It was large, built for when the Kazekage and his entourage when they visited. The weather was clear but cold so directly after the wedding everything else would be indoors.

Iruka stopped by with groceries and admired all they had accomplished in one day. "You guys worked hard." He put his hands on his hips as he surveyed the tables covered with white, yellow and red tablecloths and the vases waiting for flowers. There were balloons and streamers too. It was quite festive. "I'm proud of you all working so hard to make their wedding special in the middle of all this disorder." He wrapped an arm around Hinata and kissed her forehead.

Hinata sighed happily. "This is fun compared to what's going on outside our gate. They deserve it and unfortunately at any minute we could be fighting again. We have to take our joy where we can get it." She hugged her father-in-law. "And I want Naruto to rest. That fight with Nagato messed with his head and he's doing twice the work of any of us. Yes, he's using clones but still…" Hinata knew he was working things out in his mind about what happened and what he would do in the future. Keeping busy kept him from brooding.

"My advice? Knock him out." Iruka laughed at her shocked face. "Use your delicious tea or the Gentle Fist, whichever. You want him to rest, that's your best option. Okay now put me to work!" He like the rest had worked hard in the village but this was more fun than work.

Hinata did as asked and soon she had many hands helping to prepare food. Teuchi, the proud papa came bustling in not about to be left out of helping make his daughter's wedding day special. After all he knew Ayame's favorite foods. Hinata took a moment alone with Hanabi to discuss a wedding surprise.

~mg~

"Hey big brother, ready for the hot springs? I wish we could have real bachelor party." Naruto patted Takeshi's back.

Takeshi was walking with his brothers back to the district proper. Everything down by the lake was ready and from what he'd learned from Hinata, things were going well at the guest house too. "Hey this is enough, really. Everyone has worked wonders for our wedding." He pulled Naruto and Itachi close since they were next to him. "We'll spend a couple of hours at the springs, eat junk food, watch some movies – that's enough fun. Considering what the village is going through I feel blessed to have this oasis of time with my soon-to-be wife and my brothers." Suddenly he yelled up at the dying sun. "I'M GETTING MARRIED TOMORROW!"

Sasuke threw back his head and laughed. "You'd think he was happy or something."

"Or something." Itachi agreed with a grin. "I took the liberty of getting your clothes. Everything you'll need is at Naruto and Hinata's place. "The girls are taking over your house." Hinata had warned him to keep Takeshi away from Ayame and to use genjutsu on him if he attempted to use his eagle eyes to see his fiancée.

Behave TK! We're leaving for the hot springs now. The guys are here and waiting on you four. Have fun, love you and I'll see you in the morning! In their minds, Hinata blew kisses at them then she was gone.

Naruto clapped his hands. "Let's pick up pace! I'm ready for some fun!" And he was. Naruto had figured there wasn't much he could do about the fights to come and he had the best brothers in the world to keep him from going off the deep end. He'd let worry go and concentrate on his big brother and the woman who'd always treated him like family. Life at times could be pretty damn good.

~mg~

Lord Hiashi brought sake. With the heat and drink tongues were loosened. The men began exchanging war stories of the women they'd dated in the past. Along with Hiashi there was Iruka, Kakashi, Asuma, Techui, Sai, Kiba, Shino, Lee, Neji along with Kohonamaru and Udon had all been invited. Some of the men were telling true stories and others were bold-face lies but it was all good fun. The ladies were getting the full spa treatment. It included Ayame, Hinata, Seiko, Sakura, Kurenai, Anko, Tenten, Yugao, Hanabi and Moegi.

There was again teasing back and forth between the ladies and men but no jutsus this time. The men left well before the ladies and went back to Naruto's place. Each man had been responsible for bringing a movie and they got a nice mix. Action, comedy and yes, some adult movies. They ate, they laughed, and they drank. It was true male bonding.

After being pampered the ladies went back to Ayame's house where they gossiped about men. Anko, not about to let the men have all the fun also got some risqué movies to go along with the romance and comedies. Hanabi and Moegi got lots of lessons on men that night but were sent to bed before the other movies began. It was hard to say which group laughed more that night.

Kakashi gulped down the tea Shizune had fixed him. He'd only come in to be sure nothing important had come up while he'd partied with the boys last night.

"How's Lady Tsunade and Master Jiraiya?" He asked the woman who looked angry.

"Both should be up and out of the hospital soon. If they could wait, my lady and master could be at the wedding." Shizune told him with hands on her hips.

Kakashi sighed. "Give it a rest Shizune. Master Jiraiya told Takeshi not to wait and you know they no longer consider Tsunade part of their family. Hell, Shikamaru and Choji weren't invited either. It's Takeshi's wedding. He can invite who he wants." He got up from the desk and checked the time. It was still dark out and he'd only had a few hours' sleep. "I've got to get some food and get dressed. Was there anything I needed to take care of?"

"It's not fair to leave her out! Takeshi should treat her better than this! They were friends long before Naruto was known to either of them." The woman continued. "Takeshi wouldn't even now be marrying Ayame if my lady hadn't sent for him! And Naruto, Tsunade saved his life, Naruto owes her." Shizune paced as she vented her emotions. Lady Tsunade was recovering not only from the battle but from losing the kids.

Kakashi felt himself getting angry too. "Takeshi is his own man. Yes, he came here at Tsunade's request but even you can't deny the bond he formed with Naruto and the others way and above whatever relationship he'd had with Tsunade. As for Naruto, I'd like it if he forgave her too but demanding he do it won't make it happen. All you'd do is harden his heart even more towards her. As for Naruto owing her, I think they're fairly even when it comes to saving each other's lives. Don't forget in all your righteous anger that we, this entire village denied him just about everything, hurt him beyond measure. Leave it alone Shizune - that's an order." He spoke quietly but his voice was steel.

She rarely got to see Kakashi at his most dangerous. Well she did now. With a deep breath she nodded. "I'm sorry and no, you're free to go. …Have a good time." She got out of his way and watched him leave.

Kakashi had barely made it down the steps before an Anbu appeared out of nowhere. "What's wrong? Dammit Takeshi's getting married shortly!" He fumed.

"Lord Kaname and Lady Botan are here. They wish to speak to the Hokage." The masked man informed him.

He growled and slammed a fist into the wall. "Take me to them. Geez didn't they show up just in time for Naruto's wedding too?" The temporary Hokage was fed up with the job and title. He would gladly hand it back to Tsunade in a few days' time.

The royal party stood just inside the ruined gates. Kaname was shaking his head and walking in circles as he looked about him. "Kakashi, the village – it's half destroyed!" He blinked still unable to believe his eyes. Where is Lady Tsunade? We got word of the attack and Father sent us here to talk with her." Kaname demanded. It was time he acted like the leader he would someday become. He would start by helping his friends.

"My lord, my lady – welcome to Konoha. I know it looks bad here at the entrance, but a great portion of the village is still intact and there were no deaths." After bowing, Kakashi put his hands on his hips as he looked around. The sun had yet to make an appearance, but the sky was not as dark as it had been. "Lady Tsunade is in the hospital. For the moment, I'm the Hokage." And he shook his head wondering why he'd been chosen.

"Lady Senju was hurt?" Botan asked. Seeing the village in this state had worried her but knowing that the Hokage, the strongest of them had been injured, frightened her. Then Kakashi's words penetrated. "No one is dead? But how is this possible?" Her hand gestured to the destruction.

"Its thanks to Naruto, everyone lives. Umm, I'm sure you'd like an explanation and no doubt you have business of your own to discuss but I was just about to get ready for a wedding." Kakashi shrugged with a smile. "Spent last night at a bachelor party. If you could wait until after the festivities, I'd be happy to sit and talk with you." And it would keep this royal business at bay for a few more hours.

"A wedding? Now?" Kaname blinked still unable to take in all what he saw and heard.

"Look the ceremony will be with the rising of the sun. If you can wait, Lady Tsunade should be well enough to take her job back in a couple of days. I'm just a temp. Thank God." He scratched the back of his head.

"Naruto saved everyone, the Hokage was injured and now you're having a wedding?!" Botan asked thoroughly confused.

Kakashi had to laugh. "Yep! Takeshi and Ayame are the happy couple. During the battle they had a close call and didn't want to wait any longer. It's going to be a small wedding, a few friends and family. A little joy to make up for all the fear and pain and I want to be a part of that. So, what do you say? Can we put off the official stuff for a few more hours? You two are friends of theirs, so you should come too." He leaned forward persuasively.

Brother and sister looked at each other and shrugged. They did have valuable information to share but it wasn't as yet time sensitive. "I'm in time for another wedding." Botan smiled. "Is there someplace to freshen up?"

"Thanks." He sighed with relief. He'd just put off Hokage duties for a little longer and he'd get to enjoy the party. "Come on, we'll get you a place to stay."

~mg~

"My husband really knows the women in his life. You look beautiful Ayame." Hinata couldn't stop smiling. Naruto had envisioned this dress, Takeshi had drawn it and one of Hinata's cousins had designed it. The off-white dress with the sweetheart neckline and floor length hem. Three-inch matching heels. Her bangs were softly brushed to one side, the rest pulled back showing her lovely face to hang in waves over her shoulders. A ringlet of flowers crowned her head. Hinata squealed. "I've got to take a picture!"

Ayame laughed with delight. She felt absolutely beautiful. Naruto was a genius. "I don't know why Naruto's so good at dresses, but your man does have taste." She turned and modeled for Hinata anxious to have as many memories of this day as possible.

"Seiko, you too!" Hinata waved her over. The two of them were standing up for Ayame. Their dresses were peach for Hinata and aquamarine for Seiko, off the shoulder sheaths with matching wraps. Both wore their hair straight and long. Hinata took pictures then Hanabi took over and it just went around and round until everyone had pictures with the bride. There would be a photographer at the wedding but these before shots they wanted to do themselves.

Ayame pressed a hand to her stomach. "I've got butterflies! Hinata, Hanabi thank you. And your family, they've done so much for us! The dress, the rings and all the work they've done. I don't know what I can do to repay you all, but I will." She went to the sisters and held their hands. "I couldn't have asked for better sisters. Oh!" She fanned her face trying to hold back the tears.

"Now none of that!" Tenten chastised and hurried forward to check her makeup.

Sakura watched happy and sad at the same time. She was with them but not really part of the group. If only she could figure out her place, make up her mind about things, her life would change for the better. Sighing she looked out the window. The men were leaving Naruto's for the lake. "Almost time ladies. Techui's coming. Come on girls, we should go. Happy wedding Ayame!" She hugged her friend then gathered the girls who'd stayed the night and hurried them out into the cool morning air.

Teuchi complimented the girls as they left then walked into the house. "You ready baby girl?" He called up the stairs. Seiko led then Hinata and finally his daughter. The old man cried. She was just so beautiful and looked so much like her mother.

Hinata and Seiko watched as father and daughter hugged and shared whispered words of his late wife and of his hopes for her future. The jingle of bells outside announced the horse drawn carriage. There was one more touchup then the four of them left to go get married.

~mg~

Itachi escorted Priest Gakuto up onto the platform. There were potted plants and flowers decorating it and the ivy-covered wire arch under which the couple would be married. "Thank you for coming, for doing this for Takeshi. I know you're busy too."

Gakuto nodded as he surveyed the elder Uchiha. He would like to talk to the young man. From what he'd learned, Itachi had suffered a great deal in his life. Knowing Naruto and Hinata had accepted him already made him a friend. He would help if Itachi was open to it. "Oh, I wouldn't have missed this for anything. It's the perfect getaway. A few hours of love and laughter helps balance out the rest but then if anyone knows that, it's this family." He was gratified to see the smile Itachi gave him.

"Yes, my family has much of both thankfully." Itachi looked out at the lake, its deep blue waters calm this morning. "I managed to either find or create my own hell on earth. Sasuke, Naruto, Takeshi and Hinata saved me and brought me home. Father if you ever need an example of God's grace, come to the district, Clan Naruto welcomes you." Smiling he shook the priest's hand then moved to help Sakura greet their guests but he paused as he saw Kakashi come towards him with some unexpected people.

"Maybe he won't need my help at all." The priest looked over the gathering of people his heart full of his love for his fellow man. "I may take Clan Naruto up on that offer."

Itachi met the group before they reached the seats. "Kakashi, is there a problem?"

Kakashi laid a hand on the man's shoulder. "No, no. You've met Lord Kaname and this is his sister, Lady Botan. They came to talk to the Hokage or rather to me about the attack but when they found out Takeshi was about to get married," He shrugged. "I invited them join in the happy day. That okay?"

Itachi smiled before bowing low. "And to put off business a while longer, hmm? My lord, lady you are indeed welcome. Kakashi will you lead them to seats? With the family of course and I'll inform the others, so they won't be surprised to see our royal guests."

He moved off into the trees a little where Hanabi and Konohamaru watched over his active cub. Hey family. Itachi still marveled that he could call them that and it be true. Just wanted to let you know we have some unexpected guests.

As one Naruto, Sasuke, Takeshi and Hinata paused. They wanted nothing and no one to spoil this day. Who?

Relax Sister, you shall not have to use the Gentle Fist. He laughed at the fierceness of her question. Naruto Lord Kaname is here and he brought his lovely sister with him. Officially they're here to talk with the Hokage about the attack. But Kakashi, probably not wanting to miss the wedding, invited them along. Perhaps Naruto he also has news for you, your exception to the contract you signed.

All relaxed slightly. There had been some fear that someone would try to come that had not been invited. There was still a rift between them and some of their old friends. Still each wondered if the Daimyo would allow Naruto this condition especially after what had just happened.

It's fine, I know they're friends but is Kurota with them? Naruto almost growled the name as he gave his brother the man's face. If Kurota we there, the wedding guests would get some entertainment before the main event.

Quickly Itachi walked back to where he could see the guests. He scanned every face plus those who were there to protect the royal children. He could possibly be here in the village but not within the district. I don't believe Kakashi or Lord Kaname would be so foolish.

Hinata nodded and smiled for a picture. Good. You guys should be heading down to the lake now. You boys be sure to pick Takeshi up off the floor when he sees Ayame. They all laughed at that.

I can't wait! Come on! Takeshi threw an arm around Sasuke and Naruto. His long legs propelled them out of the house.

~mg~

As guests arrived they took in the flowers and decorations plus the awesome blue of the lake. The sun was just beginning to rise and there was dew beneath their feet. It was a cool morning, but none minded. This was a welcome respite from work on the village. Most would get back to it later but for now it was time to share in their friends' happiness.

Naruto and Sasuke appeared out of the trees first to Hyde's song Season's Call. Naruto wore burnished orange and Sasuke was in sea-blue. Each carried their swords. Proud smiles appeared as they saw friends and family gathered for this special day. Talon flew overhead screaming his approval.

"Hey Gaktuo." Naruto greeted the priest. "Let's just take it for granted that you're going to marry all my brothers!" Naruto was excited.

"Oh? Sasuke are you next?" The priest knew Naruto by now and was happy to join in the teasing. "I'll be more than happy to make time to talk with you and the lovely…Seiko wasn't it?" He remembered the girl from before.

Sasuke waved a nervous hand. "Ah that's okay. Let's concentrate on getting TK married! Shut up Naruto." He turned his panicked face away from the priest and growled at Naruto. His brother just laughed at him.

Before either could speak, the music changed and there Takeshi stood. His hair high in a top knot, sword at his side wearing amber that matched his eye color. The song was I Can Feel by Hyde. He strode down the aisle with a smile nodding to friends, hugging Iruka, Yugao and Itachi.

"I'm about to get married!" He said when he reached his brothers and laughed with delight as they too hugged him. He straightened as the music changed again but his smile only grew.

The girls came next. Like the boys they walked together down the aisle to The Spinning Song by Albert Ellemnreich. An enchanting pair they made. Each held a small bouquet of flowers. Hinata met the eyes of her husband and couldn't help but remember her own wedding. She just prayed that Takeshi and Ayame were just as happy in their marriage. Seiko couldn't help but wonder if or when it would be her turn to stand before a priest and marry Sasuke.

Anticipation and remembered joyed flowed between all in the wedding party. Once the girls reached the platform, Naruto and Sasuke moved forward to help them up stealing kisses in the process.

With the girls in place, Itachi moved to stand in front of the platform. He'd gone with dove gray for his first wedding. Squatting down he removed a pinch of catnip. A mini roar sounded, and a black-blue stripped cub ran down the aisle. Out of the mesh net around her neck, flower petals flew out behind her. Ta-chi!

The guests were charmed at the display and cheered the cub on. She ran straight into Itachi's arms mewing loudly for the catnip. "Good girl Nozomi." He praised, turned to his family with a smile and bowed to them.

The wedding march began and the guests all turned to see the bride. Father and daughter walked out of the trees. In heels, Ayame stood inches taller than her father but his pride in his child made him feel ten feet tall. Teuchi was debonair in black as he escorted Ayame.

"Thank you all for coming." Ayame couldn't help but saying as she all but floated, she was just that happy. Her hand tightened on her father's arm as they neared the platform. "Oh dad, I love you!" Ayame kissed his cheek as he led her to her future husband.

"She's precious, treat her that way always." Teuchi said gruffly as he tried not to cry. "My child, be happy." He placed her hand in Takeshi's.

"I shall, I shall. Hello beautiful." Takeshi sighed then gave in and kissed her gently.

"Well your brother did the same throughout his wedding, guess you'll do the same." Gakuto laughed. "Shall we get started?" He asked but stopped as Talon flew low over the couple giving them each a brush with his wing before he moved to land on Iruka's lap and poke at Nozomi playfully.

The ceremony began much as Naruto and Hinata's. They said the traditional vows then added on a little extra.

"I almost lost you. I'd gone without love since my family passed away. But here in Konoha I found love again and you Ayame - you are my heart. From this day forward and until forever I promise to love and cherish you." Takeshi breathed deeply. There was just so much joy inside him. Naruto handed over Ayame's ring with happy tears in his eyes.

"Oh my." Ayame pressed a hand to her heart. "Takeshi, my Takeshi." She nodded. "It was a near thing but you, my love saved me. We didn't and shall never let anyone or anything keep us apart. Not only do we have an amazing family, but we have our own winged guardian!" Ayame grinned as she laid a gentle hand on his stomach. "Takeshi, I promise you forever and love unending." Ayame squeezed his hands before taking the ring Hinata handed over and placing it on his hand.

Gakuto held a quiet delight. For the couple never, broke eye contact as they exchanged rings plus another kiss. They were a different couple and had a different way of doing things, but the happiness was much the same. He blessed their joined hands, prayed for the couple then, "You may again, kiss your bride!" The priest announced then stepped back.

Takeshi cupped Ayame's face gently then thoroughly kissed his wife before sweeping her off her feet and swinging her around. The phoenix in her joy sang, her voice reaching every ear.

Naruto crossed to his wife for his own kiss while Seiko went to Sasuke to lean into him with a wistful smile. People were on their feet clapping and sending out their well wishes.

Takeshi pulled back, did the long blink followed with a huge smile. "Hello my beautiful wife." He took a few sipping kisses.

Elation bubbled out of Ayame and she laughed. "Hello my beautiful husband!" She bounced on her toes and squealed. That seemed to be the cue for the others to join them for hugs all around.

"Hey Naruto, we're not done yet." Sasuke wiped away a tear. He would almost swear that their happiness was floating in the air.

"Oh yeah. You guys ready to lead the way?" Naruto asked as he touched his brother's back. Together he and Sasuke moved to either side of the white runner and pulled their swords. They clanged together high in the air.

Ayame linked her fingers with Takeshi. "More than ready!" She glowed.

"Definitely ready, let's go!" Together they moved under the crossed swords and into the arms of their waiting family.

One excited tiger cub and one huge hawk guided the wedding party and guests back to the guest house. There was laughing, eating and gifts. Everyone continued to forget that outside the walls of the district people were doing their best to recover and rebuild. They chose to live in the moment of Satome Takeshi and Ayame.

"No gifts! You all helped getting us ready for the ceremony. That was our gift." Ayame protested at the modest number of gifts on a table.

"Hey those are from your guests and what's a wedding without presents?" Naruto questioned. "And once the new house is built, you can help yourself to some of our wedding presents, right sweetheart?" He held his wife close and kissed her temple.

"True and yes please do. We received so much, we'd be happy to share them with you." Hinata held a warm cup of tea. She hadn't felt the cool weather during the ceremony but now she felt a slight chill.

"Thanks, little brother, sister. My wife shall we open some gifts?" Takeshi couldn't have looked happier to be able to say those words.

Each gathered around to watch their brother and new sister open gifts and give thanks. Naruto slipped out unnoticed. They did have one gift to give though most wouldn't consider it a wedding gift still he knew Takeshi would appreciate it and Ayame would accept it.

Takeshi sat back feeling so full of every good emotion a body could feel. His wife was at his side. His proud surrogate dad was there who'd been more of a father than the one who gave him life. Lord Hiashi who shared his family so graciously. Friends who'd fought with him, protected him from danger, his lovely sister Hinata and his precious blood brothers. Amber eyes tracked them down; Itachi with Hanabi, Sasuke and Seiko were whispering to each other and Naruto… "Hinata where'd Naruto run off to?" He stood, grabbed his wife's hand unwilling to be too far away from her.

Hinata was talking with Yugao about weddings of course but she turned with a smile to the newlyweds. "Ayame you're still blushing! Oh, to be a new bride." She sighed acting as if she'd been married for so long that she'd forgotten the feeling. In reality, she was still a newlywed.

Takeshi grinned. "I've been told you used to blush every time you saw Naruto. Couldn't speak as a matter of fact! Stop teasing my wife Sister." The guests, overhearing all laughed heartily as they all remembered instances when she'd blushed, stuttered or even fainted just to be near Naruto.

"TK!" Hinata sniffed and battered her eye lashes. "I was shy." She said demurely.

"Was! Now she talks junk, gives orders and takes no prisoners!" Sasuke added with a laugh. "What the heck happened?"

"Me." Naruto said as he entered the house with Talon on his shoulder. "I bring out the best in Hinata, don't I sweetheart?" He was holding his wedding jacket to his waist and there was a lump under it.

Laughing, Hinata kissed him. "Yes, and I curbed your idiocy." She winked at him as he groaned. "See, no longer shy."

The room had erupted with laughter at Hinata's words and gathered around because it seemed as if something was about to happen.

"Father is her sharp tongue also a family trait?" Naruto asked as he lightly spanked Hinata's bottom.

"You've lots to learn in the coming years son, lots to learn." Hiashi toasted him with sympathy.

"Well it's a good thing I love you like there's no tomorrow then." His nose found hers and rubbed together getting a couple of ahhs.

"Hey, hey – this is our day!" Takeshi protested with a laugh, bent Ayame over his arm and kissed the breath out of her.

"She's gonna have a fun night." Anko commented with raised eyebrows. "Remember what happened to Hinata." Her eyes were dancing with laughter and had everyone chuckling as they did and what Anko had done when she'd found out.

Once Ayame was on her feet she was blushing furiously. "Stop!" She wasn't shy, but she wasn't used to all the attention either. Ayame hid her face in Takeshi's shoulder. "You guys!"

"She adorable." Naruto commented with love. She had for all intents been his first sister. He moved as to kiss her cheek when his jacket chirruped.

"Alright what are you hiding little brother?" Takeshi wondered as something moved under Naruto's jacket.

Naruto glanced down with a smile. "Okay just a moment more." Gently he patted the bundle. "So, we didn't get you a traditional wedding present. Yeah, yeah the wedding itself was our present but you're our brother and sister – hush!" Naruto shook a finger at them when they would have protested.

"He's right. We wanted to do even more but the timing and all." Itachi joined the conversation. "And we learned something from Talon that seemed like the perfect gift." He watched as Talon bobbed his head. "Talon and Nozomi bring so much joy into our lives. They're family." Itachi stopped speaking as a look of awe came over Takeshi's face.

"You and Talon grew closer while you were with the thunderbirds. Not only did he feel your longing to have a bird of your own, the phoenix asked Talon to be on the lookout for a hawk for you." Hinata added. Her lavender eyes went from Ayame to Takeshi for it would be their child together.

"My lady." Takeshi whispered as he touched his stomach.

"Kaya recently hatched a few chicks and we chose one for you." Sasuke added. "He's very young but even phoenix approved of him." Sasuke shook his head. Through Talon they'd been able to communicate with the phoenix without Takeshi ever being aware of it.

"A boy?" Ayame questioned then with a soft smile, "Show us our son Naruto." She requested.

"God, I love you!" Takeshi said fervently before he nodded at Naruto and holding out his hands. "I'm ready Naruto, please." His hands shook he was so excited.

Gently he brought out a chick that still had some of its fluffy feathers. "He's still very young so Kaya wants him to stay with her a while longer, but she'll be expecting you both to come visit. Here you go big brother." Naruto placed the small hawk in Takeshi's hands.

He was crying. "Hello little one, I'm Takeshi and this is Ayame. We're your new parents." Takeshi turned so that Ayame could join him in holding the bird.

"Oh, you're so tiny. Hi baby." Ayame sniffed. "Hinata – I love him already." She'd known about Takeshi wanting a hawk and they were going to find one when they had time but here one was, and she was happily surprised and awed.

"I know the feeling." Hinata hugged Ayame's waist. "Now you have to think of a name for him. Don't worry, you don't have to come up with a name right now." She laughed at Ayame's panicked face. "Just love him."

"We do." They said together and laughed.

The siblings backed off standing together watching the newlyweds with their new baby and others gathering close to congratulate them.

"Good job Tal. We never would have gotten them a gift they'd love more than this." Naruto took Talon from him his shoulder to hold on his forearm. The hawk preened at the attention. And he had a new brother who would live nearby. Talon also got something out of this.

Baby hawk? Nozomi sat at Itachi's feet, head tilted high trying to see. She licked Itachi's face as he picked her up. "Yes, a new addition to our family. You'll be able to play with him when he gets older." Itachi told her thinking whatever house he eventually settled in would have to big enough for his little girl and laughed to himself. It would be a very big house!

"I think you kids pulled it off." Iruka said standing behind Naruto and Hinata. "It was a perfect wedding."

"They did indeed. Not just a beautiful wedding but stopping one of the Akatsuki's most powerful men. Clan Naruto…many shall soon learn of them I think." Kaname agreed as he stood with Botan watching the group.

"Presents opened, food is getting scarce, all that's left is dancing!" Hinata announced to the room. There wasn't much room but there was just enough.

"Yes, come dance with me." Ayame passed her little baby hawk to his uncle Naruto and grabbed her husband's hand. "I found us the perfect song!" She blew a kiss as the hatchling chirruped after her.

"Yeah?" He grinned at his brother and new son before sweeping his new bride off her feet and twirling them around.

Everyone gathered around as Hinata turned on the music. Ayame transformed from the blushing bride into a woman out to show her man, just how much he's loved.

Takeshi's eyebrows went up as the sultry music filled the room. He put his hands on Ayame's waist as her hips began to sway. Following the beat, they began a sensual dance as his wife began to sing along with the song, her eyes for him only.

When I'm with you, you know you make my days so beautiful with your different ways

You make me lighter, I'm moving with the wind

Love you, know what you got for me I got for you too, we can't pretend

Give me another chance to breathe in, you got all the things I need and together we're

just so, complete you must be the reason I'm alive(x2)

It's all so new yet so familiar every time I'm next you I feel something' like forever

Yes, that's right C'mon and talk to me

Let some of that sweet poetic love fall over me

Give me another chance to breathe in you got all the things I need and together we're just so complete you must be the reason I'm alive (x3)

All this time, I've been lookin' for someone like you I never really thought you existed Now I see my dreams are all comin' true I just want to stay right here with you

You say I'm like fresh air for the birth of your new eyes I say you're like the sun, bright enlightening my skies

Today, we got together to create a new world

Only a real man can understand the gift of this girl

Bells are ringin' cause what you're bringin' has got me singin'

Now I can breathe in, you're all I'm needin'

Love is a breeze and spring is the season I'm feelin' so alive inside, and you must be the reason

All this time, I've been lookin' for someone like you I never really thought you existed Now I see my dreams are all comin' true I just want to stay right here with you

Give me another chance to breathe in you got all the things I need and together we're just so complete you must be the reason I'm alive (x3)

I feel so alive with you , I feel so alive, I feel so alive with you

"Ayame love, that is the perfect song for us." He pulled her up on her tiptoes to kiss her.

Naruto whistled and grinned. "I think Ayame's going to make our big brother very happy." He leaned down to kiss his own wife in celebration.

"Okay, you've all got the day off and the newlyweds can have tomorrow too." Kakashi sighed. "I wish I could give them more time but…"

"No worries Kakashi, TK and Ayame are fine with it. After all they got married just after a big battle and I've already contacted Hikaru. They're ready to welcome them when things calm down." Naruto told him as Hinata said goodbye to the priest. Many of their guests were leaving to get back to work. His brother and sister were getting a few more minutes with their new baby before leaving to go start their mini honeymoon.

He offered Botan a cup of tea. "So, what's up? There's no way you could have known Takeshi was getting married today." Naruto looked at Kaname.

"No indeed not but it was fortuitous. I love weddings. I've been jealous of my brother getting to come visit with you all." Botan smiled as Hinata rejoined them. "Tell me Hinata, what would make a good present. I'll have it sent as soon as we return home."

"There's no rush Lady Botan. We're having houses built but things are on hold for the moment obviously." Hinata sighed a little as she thought of the damage outside their gates. "It's present enough that you were here to share in our family's happiness." She recovered easily. There was much to be thankful for.

"Well that just gives me time to come up with something special." Botan nodded. She took a sip of tea. "Kaname you have some news for Naruto don't you?"

Sasuke joined the group then. He removed his sword and took a seat on the floor. "News? Wait, this is about the exception he wanted?" He looked back at Naruto who'd become tense in his chair.

The anger came back, he was sorry for it here at Takeshi's reception, but it was there. They had lied to him his entire life. Everyone he loved, everyone he respected had lied. "So?" He asked sharply.

"Naruto." Hinata said quietly as she placed a calming hand on his thigh.

"What's going on? Children?" Lord Hiashi and Iruka stepped up when the air in the house suddenly became charged. The newlyweds also moved closer.

Kaname cleared his throat. "First, I'm sorry that this still bothers you Naruto, though I didn't expect you to have let it go yet. You should know Kurota lobbied against any exception." Kaname's eyes got wide as Naruto growled and Sasuke cursed. But with Li and Botan's support I was able to get you your exception." He let out a breath as Naruto closed his eyes and slumped in his chair.

"Damn straight." Sasuke exclaimed as he watched Hinata hug her husband.

"Thank you." Iruka bowed formally. "Truthfully with all that's happened I had forgotten but it's a great relief to know he will at last be given the trust of the nation. You are a great friend my lord." Iruka smiled gratefully.

Kaname sat a little straighter. It wasn't a great deed, but he had helped a friend and he was proud of that. "You're welcome. Of course, there are other reasons we have come but we must speak with the Hokage about it first. But I will say that it concerns the Akatsuki." Now it was his face that hardened. These people were threating his nation.

Instantly his thoughts went to Nagato. "What he wanted wasn't evil. Actually, all Nagato wanted was to prevent more pain. His home was caught between warring nations and he saw nothing but pain. Somehow, some way his plans and dreams got corrupted." Naruto spoke quietly. Though many were involved in the conversation, his words were more for the men who'd fought by his side. "You were a lot alike I think." Itachi had been near the whole time watching silently.

He nodded. "Probably. It's unwanted but violence is usually the path to peace. Blood…" Itachi stopped as he saw Ayame lean into her new husband while she cupped the now dozing hatchling. "Forgive me Sister," he bowed his head. "This is your wedding day and I want nothing but happiness for you today." Itachi moved forward to kiss her cheek.

"Yeah, sorry Ayame. Want me to take the little guy back? Meeting his new family seems to have tired him out." Naruto shook himself and stood. There would be time to think on all this later. Now was for his brother and sister.

"I hate to give him up, but he is already asleep, and I'd love to dance some more. Come on, join us. There's more room now." Ayame waved Seiko and Yugao over as they came out of the kitchen.

A clone was required to take the newest family member back to the aviary. The music was turned up and they danced. Kakashi and the Daimyo children slipped out thirty minutes later as a group dance was going on. Lord Hiashi was having trouble keeping up and was being teased.

"We can go to Lady Tsunade's office." Kakashi guided the siblings out of the district. He'd enjoyed himself. It had only been a few hours but a fun few hours. He'd been allowed to forget the problems that were now his concern.

"It's rather remarkable. The district is completely intact as well as other areas but then some streets and blocks have been leveled. Doesn't that happen with some natural disasters?" Botan wrapped her cloak tighter against the chill.

"Well Pain had that kind of power, the power of the Rinnegan." He shrugged. "I'll do my best to explain. You've seen ninja use chakra, in some ways it's the same for all of us but it can change and manifest in different ways. Pain's chakra was like nothing we'd ever seen before. Makes it hard to fight when you don't know what's coming." Kakashi let them go ahead of him up the stairs. "Shizune have some tea prepared and ask Shikaku to join us. Any word on Lady Tsunade?"

Shizune bowed before speaking. "Tea is coming, and I'll send word for Shikaku to come. I received a note from the hospital and she'll be in tomorrow. Here's the tea now. Do you wish me to take notes?" Curiosity was killing her. What new business or problem was headed their way?

Kakashi froze then a huge smile appeared under his mask. "Really, that's excellent news!" He felt his body relax. "Umm, no not today. We're just going to bring them up to speed. One thing I can do before gladly handing this job back to the Hokage! Thanks, Shizune." He patted her shoulder enthusiastically.

She had to laugh. Despite his grumbling, Kakashi had done a fine job. "Of course." Shizune bowed and left them alone.

"So…" He began explaining from the point of Naruto leaving to go to sage training. Shikaku arrived just as Kakashi was telling of Tsunade confronting Pain.

"We were damned lucky. If it hadn't been for the four of them, Naruto and his brothers, Konoha would be no more. That's fact." He hadn't seen everything, but their reports had been quite detailed. Shikaku looked out the windows at his village. It was a little worse for wear, but every soul lived. He held in a sigh for the lost friendship between his son and Naruto. He hoped one day soon they could find common ground again.

Botan looked at Kaname. All of it was unbelievable. Ninjas were a mystery to her, but she didn't doubt them. "Well I wonder if losing Pain changes anything?"

"What do you mean?" Kakashi put his tea cup down.

"You are acting Hokage and Lady Tsunade would share this news with you in any case." Kaname leaned forward. "Pain was sent here for Naruto and an Akatsuki team was sent after the Eight-Tails. He was able to fight them off as well but the Raikage was incensed. He's demanded a Gokage summit in order to rid us of the Akatsuki."

It was early afternoon as the couple was escorted home. Sasuke held hands with Seiko, Naruto had an arm around Hinata. Iruka and Yugao threw bird seed, some Talon ate. Teuchi tried not to cry while Hiashi watched it all like an indulgent father. Itachi walked with him as Nozomi chased after the birds.

"So, if you need a few pointers, we're right next door." Naruto patted Takeshi on the back.

"Yeah, we're right here TK, try to keep the noise down." Sasuke added then laughed as his new sister blushed.

"Ayame, I stocked you up my restorative tea and creams for sore muscles. Just call if you need more." Hinata grinned mischievously.

"I'm available for healing should you, um overstrain yourself." Sakura added with dancing eyes.

"Oh stop!" Ayame turned to face them pleasantly flushed from all the teasing. "You're all so bad! Whoa!" Suddenly she was swept off her feet.

"Don't you guys worry, I'll take good care of my wife. There's nothing I can't handle." Takeshi bragged before stealing a kiss. "Little brother you may have been married longer but I've got years of experience. Hey!" He complained as Ayame pulled on his earlobe. "What you disagree?"

"Will you stop?!" She slapped at his chest then looked back at their family. "Thank you for a wonderful wedding. We couldn't have asked for better. Love you!" She blew them kisses.

"Annoying brothers aside, you did an outstanding job. You help me realize my fondest wish, marrying this woman." Takeshi looked into eyes he'd never tire of. "All right go home! We've got a honeymoon to start!"

Sakura laughed as she ran up to them. "I've got the door. Have fun you two." She wasn't offended as neither spoke, but laughter followed the slamming of the door.

See you in two days TK.

We love you.

Have a good time!

Be very happy. Naruto, Hinata, Sasuke and Itachi said as they closed the synch between them.

"Well Dad, we might as well start planning your wedding. Come on back to our place, we can finish cleaning later." Naruto offered.

"Sasuke, you and Seiko come too. You need to take notes for your wedding. And Itachi," Hinata hooked and arm through his. "I've got some cousins you should meet. No trying to talk me out of it." She laughed at the mild panic on his face.

"You know sweetheart, Father needs a lady too." Naruto turned to look at Lord Hiashi then at Teuchi. "We have a lot of matchmaking to do."

"Just get to making babies and leave the rest of us alone!" Sasuke growled.

"You'll be an uncle soon enough Sasuke. We'll put you in training along with Kakashi, so you'll be the perfect babysitter!" Hinata glowed as she laughed at the horror on Sasuke's face.

"I'll babysit. I used to take care of Sasuke when he was a babe." Itachi joined the conversation then blushed as they all looked at him.

"Of course, you did. I bet you were wonderful with him. Now I have a better idea of who you should meet. Every girl loves a man willing to take care of children. Just think, before we know it there will children crowding around granddad and grandfather." Hinata beamed at Iruka and Hiashi. "Of course, some of them will be chasing after their big brother Naruto." She leaned on Itachi's arm.

"Sister…though I don't know about meeting these cousins of yours, I cannot wait to have the district filled with children again." The elder Uchiha looked at the land around him. It was empty except for themselves. He couldn't help but remember the way it had been but that was over. He'd been given a second chance. This time there would be more than Uchihas living here. Blond children, blue, lavender and golden-eyed children laughing and playing with black-eyed children. "Yes, you must all be ready to repopulate the district!" Suddenly he smiled. "Iruka you will be in the unique position of father and grandfather. It will be a pleasure to see how you deal with it." The teasing was coming back to him and it was fun.

"Hinata I think I know a few ladies who'd love to take on the mysterious Uchiha. We'll have to invite a few ladies every day to see Itachi. We'll dress you up and show you off. Be on your best behavior, okay?" Yugao had moved in front of him to poke a finger in his chest.

Naruto just laughed and laughed. His family were teasing and arguing about weddings and babies. His big brother was enjoying his honeymoon. The world's problems were outside his gates and would stay that way for a few more hours.

There was a fire going and flowers in every room. Every bit of the house glowed. "Hanabi and Hinata. I bet there's food in the fridge and fresh linens on the bed. My sisters are awesome." Ayame twirled about in her dress. She was happy.

Takeshi locked the door, though he knew they wouldn't be disturbed. He moved to the kitchen and found not only food in the fridge but some warming in the stove. There was tea and bottle of sake, Lord Hiashi's brand. "You were right. We have food. So, my lovely wife shall we consummate this marriage?"

"Anxious, are you?" Ayame laughed. "How can I deny you, follow me upstairs my husband." She backed away then ran up the steps.

"Satome Ayame, what are you up to?" Takeshi asked as he did as she bid.

He found her next to the bed which was turned down and covered in flower petals. There was wine, fruit and chocolates near to the bed. She spun around with tears in her eyes. "They thought of everything." Were her whispered words. His eyesight noticed the bathroom door was slightly ajar. Walking to it he peered in to see the tub full of hot water.

"Indeed, they have. Would you like to share a bath with me?" Off came his clothes, piece by piece until he stood nude. Takeshi lifted his arms, muscles bunching as he released the tie on his hair. It fell in an ebony shower about his body.

She hummed to see him and know this man was hers. "You are so beautiful. Help me with my dress?" Ayame turned her back to him.

It tickled him to be called beautiful. Takeshi moved forward to place his hands on her shoulders. "My pleasure." He said as he swept her hair to one side to kiss her neck. There was a tiny hook then a long zipper. The sound was loud and erotic as they both held their breath.

Ayame was shivering, not from cold but from anticipation. She loosened the cuffs at her wrists and blinked at the light glimmering off her wedding ring. The main stone was a diamond, but amber gemstones encircled the band. They reminded her of her husband's eyes. They'd gone together to get rings. Takeshi's was a simple platinum band with their names engraved on the inside.

He pushed the dress down her arms. After the sleeves slipped over her wrists' he linked their fingers', so the rings lay side by side. "They compliment each other just as we do." His other arm around her waist he hugged her.

"We do. I never thought I'd have this. I did believe I'd marry but just to some guy." Ayame brought their hands up between her breasts. "What Naruto and Hinata have, its magical and its what they both deserve. I sort of envied them but treasured that they found each other. And now I have you." She reached a hand behind her to stroke his face. "My own magic fairy tale come true. I didn't believe but I'm so damn happy to be proven wrong. I love you my husband." Ayame kissed their joined hands as a happy tear escaped her eye.

"Then we're a perfect match because I felt the same." He rested his head upon hers. "Magic, I had and through my lady and a mother's love but being a Jinchuriki, I had doubted that a normal type of life would be mine." Takeshi had imagined the life of a gypsy. Traveling always with no hope for a home. Though not a tailed beast, the Immortal Phoenix was a power to be reckoned with and therefore her power would be a treasure to be sought. "I'll forever be grateful that I too was wrong. I have the love of my life and an extended family." Takeshi held her close silently sending up a prayer of thanks.

Ayame closed her eyes the better to hold in her pleasure but then suddenly Takeshi spun her around. "Oh!" Her dress was worked over her hips leaving her in the sexy lingerie she'd picked out.

"Satome-san what a sexy lady you are." He grinned up at her. The material shimmered, cupping her breasts just barely and the flimsy scrap covering her sex. A garter belt held up sheer stockings. "I'll have to draw you just like this." His hands skimmed up and down her legs.

"You better not!" She let a surprised laugh. With his help she stepped out of the dress and posed with one hand on her hip. "I would look good though!" She teased.

Takeshi stood with her dress and tossed it over a chair. He circled around her seeing her bare bottom. "You, naughty woman, that's a thong!" He'd never believe she'd wear something so revealing. "A new trend?"

Ayame laughed. "Maybe." She blinked her eyes at him. It had embarrassed her to be wearing such things in front of the priest and her father but only she had known, and it had made her feel sexy.

"Well now, when we get the chance, we'll go shopping for more." Takeshi laughed at her blush. "Come wife. As much as I enjoy the sight, I'd rather being touching you." Takeshi's voice got husky and he pulled on her hand.

Her heartbeat sped up. It was almost like the first time. He was gloriously nude, and she was going to join him, making them one. Quickly she stepped out of her shoes and walked with him to the bath.

Inside he undid her bra, tossed it over his shoulder somewhere. He squatted behind her kissing her bottom and undid the garters. Down came the hose followed by the scrap of underwear. "Ready?" He nipped at a round cheek.

"Takeshi!" She giggled. "Who's naughty now?"

"We're about to be!" He stepped into the steaming water then helped her in. "Just think of the games we'll be able to play in the new house. Our tub will be twice as big." Both remembered the bathroom Naruto and Hinata had on Crescent Moon. That bath was insanely big and theirs wouldn't be that grand but bigger than this.

"Mmm but this is nice too." Ayame said as she lay back against his chest the heat flushing her skin. She sighed. It had been a beautiful but cold day.

Takeshi only smiled. For a man of his height, the tub was too small, and he was sharing it with his wife, but he'd make do. And did.

Ayame was soaking in the heat when large hands covered her breasts. A different heat began in her belly. She arched as one hand slid down her tummy. "Ta-keshi…" She squirmed as his long fingers pleasured her sex.

"Ayame." He said before sucking on her neck. "Let go baby." His fingers found her excited flesh, rubbed it vigorously. His other hand tightened around a plump breast and flicked her nipple. It hardened his flesh to hear her screams echo off the walls.

She worked to catch her breath. "Help me." Ayame worked to turn around to face him. On her knees, between his legs she looked at him. Dark hair damp about his face and trailing in the water. Wide chest with taunt dark nipples, a rippled abdomen and just breaking the water, her husband's erection. "Now if I could draw…" Ayame grinned.

Takeshi laughed. "Not sure I'd want to see that! You just gonna sit there and look at me?" He reached out to stroke her flushed cheek.

"Trust me, it'd be a beautiful picture." She scooted forward her fingers touching that exposed tip. "You are ready aren't you husband?" His legs had flexed, hands now gripping the sides of the tub. Up and down she stroked and watched him throw back his head and groan. Ayame wanted to pleasure him but her own body was ready for more.

Water sloshed as she moved. Suddenly she was lifted up so that she could straddle him. One hand positioned him right where they both wanted him to be. "Until forever."

"Forever and more." Takeshi pushed up into her and they both expressed their joy in their marriage and new life together.

Shizune walked into the hospital room surprised to see Lady Tsunade up and dressed. Master Jiraiya was dressed as well but lying on the bed. "My lady, are you leaving already? You don't need more rest before tomorrow?" Her voice was worried.

"I was sent another tear this morning. Thanks to Takeshi I'm back to a hundred percent." It had been sent with a note of thanks. He had wanted to acknowledge that it was because she had sent for him that he now had the family and the wife he hadn't really known he'd been missing. Tsunade turned away from the mirror where she'd been fixing her hair. "I wanted to get Jiraiya home then go into the office for a while. Is Kakashi there? I'm sure he'd like to pass the reins back to me." She managed a weak smile.

Shizune felt a little shame for the thoughts she'd had about Takeshi. He had been thinking of Lady Tsunade when she'd thought they'd completely forsaken her. "Umm that was thoughtful of him. Yes, Kakashi is back at the office but he's not alone. Lord Kaname and Lady Botan showed up this morning before the wedding. They along with Kakashi attended the nuptials and are now exchanging information. The state of the village quite shocked them." She hurried to the Toad Sannin's bed as he moved to stand up.

"Time for me to see it for myself too. Let's go Boobie Baby." He tried to lighten her mood. Jiraiya noted the frown on her face as she tried to reason out why the Daimyo's children were here. "Maybe they just came to tell Naruto the Daimyo's decision. Naruto considers Kaname to be a friend and vice-versa." It was actually a relief to be leaving and to hear of the going's on. He'd been too isolated since his injury.

Tsunade came over to take is hand. It pained her always to see that empty sleeve, but he was very much alive and by her side. "I had forgotten. Let's get you home. Shizune have some transportation standing by. No Jiraiya, you're still weak. And you can see the village better this way." She stopped his protest as he opened his mouth.

"Yes, my lady." Shizune bowed and started out the door but stopped suddenly. "I'm very glad both of you well." Her smile was so genuine that it was returned easily.

Hand-in-hand they walked slowly out and to the elevators. "This will be the first time you'll be seeing all the damage as well." Jiraiya commented. "I know you were involved in the battle, but you never saw what happened after you came to me."

She squeezed his hand and shook her head. "So much destroyed. What my grandfather, uncle and Sarutobi-sensei built is gone. Pain was just one man but the level of destruction he caused is…unbelievable." It had been her duty to protect it, but she hadn't been able to. There was guilt living inside her now.

"But their will lives on along with every single shinobi and villager. Naruto saw to that and we'll rebuild Tsunade. It's the people who are important not buildings." He reminded her, but he too felt some guilt. He'd been completely out of it, unaware of the battle but he still felt he should have been there to help. It was another stain on his shinobi honor.

As the elevator doors opened, both stood a little straighter. People would look to them for guidance and in this they would do even if they didn't feel worthy of leadership. But respect and joy were sent their way. People were happy to see them. Tsunade found herself thanking her staff for the good, tireless jobs they'd been doing. It made her feel better seeing their dedication or rather their will of fire. It gave her hope.

Outside the air was crisp and cold. Their breath fogged in the air. And along the road and just across the street, damage could be seen. Some shinobi were waiting next to a cart, they helped the couple inside while Shizune covered them with blankets.

"Shall I let Kakashi know you're on your way?" She adjusted her own cloak as the wind picked up.

Tsunade debated, she wanted to see the village, but she didn't want keep them waiting if they also arrived to see her as well as Naruto. "Yes, I should be no more than an hour…I think." She waved a hand at the damage around them. It could be that roads were blocked.

"My lady, we have managed to clear the roads." One of the shinobi reassured.

She nodded. "Then an hour. Please take us by some of the damaged areas." Tsunade requested for herself and Jiraiya.

Shizune watched them go knowing there would be sadness when they saw some old favorites were now gone. She turned to go back to headquarters. It was troubling, her feelings concerning Naruto. He had revoked the adoption and blamed her lady for everything that had gone wrong in his life and it wasn't fair. A lot of it had been circumstance, Naruto should be more forgiving. But then if it hadn't been for Naruto, the village would now be gone. Not only gone but most if not, everyone would be dead. Oh, he'd had help but if it wasn't for the feelings, he'd apparently been able to awaken in Pain, the man would not have brought back all the lives he'd taken.

Naruto was impressive in his love and apparently in his pain. Shizune had to remember that at one point she herself had personally caused Naruto a great deal of pain and after a while he'd chosen to forgive her. Or at least he had, she wasn't so certain of that now. She'd only been standing up for Lady Tsunade, but she'd angered him greatly.

She sighed, things were so complicated it was hard to know how to react. Mistakes had been made and feelings torn to bits. "I should concentrate on the bigger picture." Shizune stopped outside of headquarters and looked around her. Villagers were working hard to put things back in order. Shinobi were watching over everyone to keep them safe. They'd survived one battle but there was more to come. "We all want to live happy and free lives, so until that's accomplished, I'll let go of my hard feelings." Vow made, Shizune went inside to tell the others of Lady Tsunade's return to the position of Hokage.
