A/N: As promised, here's the epilogue. Phew! Finally done with this story a year and a half after I started. I hope y'all enjoy it.
On a sidenote, I JUST FOUND OUT LUCY'S COMING TO SEATTLE IN DECEMBER! SO freaking excited. Though you have to win tickets in order to get in. But I have hope. Hopefully I can get them. If I don't, I think I might have a heart attack.
Anyways, enjoy!
Aria groaned as she reread the invitation in her hands. She'd probably read it at least ten times within the last hour she'd received it. It was an invitation to her parent's 25th anniversary celebration. As happy as she was her parents had been married for twenty five years, going to their celebration meant going back to Rosewood. Something she'd tried to avoid as much as possible in the last five years.
It wasn't that she didn't like Rosewood. But Seattle was her home now. She loved everything about it. The people were so liberal, there was a Starbucks on literally every corner, and the weather was perfect. Many people would complain about the rain, but she enjoyed it so much. Rainy weather was the perfect weather to curl up with a book, or with her journal.
She shoved the invitation back in it's envelope, and leaned against her desk. Seconds later she felt a pair of very familiar lips against her neck.
"I swear if I see you read that one more time, I'll put it on top of the fridge."
She leaned back against him and closed her eyes. "I'm sorry, but how am I supposed to go back to Rosewood like this?" She asked.
"Like what?"
She got up and stood in front of him.
"You know." She scoffed. "Looking like I swallowed a watermelon."
He leaned down, pecking her nose gently. "You don't look like that." He replied, placing his hands over her small baby bump. "It's a cute belly, if i do say so myself."
She smiled at him."This is why I love you. You always make me feel better."
"That's what I do best." He smiled.
She wrapped her arms around his neck, placing a soft kiss to his lips. "Really, though. This is in a month. By then, I'll be almost six months and look even bigger." She complained.
"And what's so wrong about that?" He asked.
"Ezra," She looked up at him. "We haven't told anyone I'm pregnant. You know that. My parent's are going to be so mad."
"Aria, there's nothing bad about you being pregnant. You're twenty four. Isn't that how old Ella was when she had you? Besides, it's not like we're not married. And your parent's have learned to love me. So you have nothing to worry about."
"It's not that. I feel terrible for not telling them before.I just didn't know how to tell them. And we agreed to get through the first trimester without anyone knowing, but i'm nearly five months pregnant now and we still haven't told anyone."
He grabbed her hand leading them to their bed. "Don't stress about it, Ok? It's getting late, you need to rest."
He settled under the covers, and watched as Aria stood at the end of their bed. He moved so he now sat in front of her. Wrapping his arms around her waist, he leaned down and placed a kiss on her tummy.
"Hey, buddy." He cooed. "Can you tell Mommy to relax and go to sleep and that everything will be fine? Maybe she'll listen to you." He murmured softly.
Aria smiled before resting her arms on his shoulder and leaning down to press a kiss to his curls. He looked up at her, shooting her a smile.
"Can we go to bed now?" He asked.
She nodded.
"I love you." She confessed, lying down next to him.
"I love you too, babe. Goodnight."
"Night." She mumbled against his chest.
Moments later, she looked up at him. "Ezra?" She whispered.
"Hm?"
She placed a kiss on his bare chest before looking up at him. "I'm glad you came to visit me that Thanksgiving Day."
He kissed her chastely."Me too."
And she was so glad. That night, many years ago, she'd told herself repeatedly that nothing could happen between them—that nothing would happen between them. But hours later, as she still laid wide awake, she leaned over and kissed him. She told herself not to, her voice kept repeating inside her head to not kiss him and go back to sleep. But she didn't. She kissed him. He woke up and reciprocated almost instantly, clothes scattered within seconds, and only soft moans of pleasure filling up the small dorm room. They had definitely not been just friends that night.
The next morning, instead of running like she had the time before, they both talked about it. They worked through every one of their issues, tears had been shed, at some point a little bit of yelling, but in the end, they had ended the night back at his hotel room, where a promise to to give themselves another chance, had been made in the most intimate way.
By the start of the new year, Ezra had moved down to Seattle taking a job as an AP English teacher at a High School located just ten miles from Seattle. Six months later, at the end of the school year, Aria had officially said her goodbyes to her dorm room, and fully moved in with him.
They'd gotten married three years later, gathered by family and friends in Seattle. The proposal had been perfect. After the perfect date down at Pike Place market, they ended their night atop the Great Wheel of Seattle, where after a few minutes of him confessing how much he loved her, pulled out the most beautiful ring and proposed.
There wasn't a day where she regretted giving him another chance. He'd been nothing but perfect ever since. He was always so attentive to her needs, always made her smile. Just little things he did made her love him even more. And now, just four months way from welcoming their first child together, she couldn't be any happier. She only hoped all would go well once they returned to Rosewood.
"Aria, please try to get some sleep on the flight. You were up all night."
"It's not my fault your son was up kicking all night." She joked. "Are you sure you never played soccer? Because this little guy is definitely a kicker."
He laughed. "Well, you have a few hours to sleep now, so close those beautiful eyes and relax."
"I'm not even tired." She argued.
"Ari-,"
She leaned over, silencing him with a kiss. "I'm fine, ok?" She whispered.
He looked down at her, not convinced, but figured it was a lost battle. "Alright."
She kissed him once more, before laying her head on his shoulder. Ezra chuckled to himself as he heard soft snores coming from her a short ten minutes later.
He was glad she'd finally gotten some sleep. Even though she'd said the baby had kept her up, he knew she was worried, and it was because of that that she couldn't fall asleep. He was thankful Spencer would be the one picking them up. Actually, maybe he wasn't so thankful. This was Spencer, and god knew how she could be. He knew she would be happy for them, but she'd obviously be upset that they'd kept something so big from her. It was better facing her friends first, rather than her parents. Because he had to admit that although he'd told Aria everything would work out with her parents, he was still nervous. Byron and Ella had slowly grown to like and accept him, which he was so thankful for, but a part of him still feared if they would be disappointed in them.
He chuckled softly to himself as he remembered when they'd first told her parents they were seeing each other again.
"Aria? What's he doing here?" Ella asked.
It was nearing the middle of January, and Aria was getting ready to head back to Seattle.
"We need to talk to you."
"Please don't tell me you did something stupid." Ella whispered.
Aria shook her head. "No. Um-" She was struggling.
"Aria and I are seeing each other again." Ezra announced.
"You're what?" Byron asked.
"We're dating." Aria clarified. "We have been since Thanksgiving when he surprised me and flew down to Seattle."
"You can't be serious."
Aria took Ezra's hand in hers. "We are. I love him."
"He hurt you." Byron retorted. "He used you."
"And I regret it everyday." Ezra confessed. "But I love your daughter so much. And I promise I won't ever hurt her."
"I don't believe. I won't believe you."
"Dad, please." Aria begged. "Nothing you do or say will make me change my mind."
"Alright." He scoffed. "But when he hurts you again, I don't want you coming back crying to us."
"That won't happen, sir." Ezra promised. "I won't ever hurt her again."
He shook his head. "Just wait and see, Aria. When he does hurt you, you'll realize we were right."
He stormed off into his bedroom.
"Mom?" Aria pleaded looking at her mother for approval.
Ella sighed as she looked up at her daughter. "You know what you're doing." She simply said before disappearing after Byron.
There were several other occasions when the Montgomery's disapproved of their relationship. Byron had given him the silent treatment for a while, but Ella was fast in warming up to them as a couple. As the months flew by, Byron came to accept that Ezra was a decent guy and treated Aria right. It was obvious he loved her, and did all in his power to make her happy. After that, the two had built a special relationship, which made Aria more than happy. Now, both Byron and Ella loved him.
The plane soon came to a stop, and glancing down he noticed Aria was still asleep. She looked so peaceful, he almost didn't want to wake her up. He leaned down, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead.
"Babe, we're here. Time to wake up." He whispered.
"Mmm." She groaned making no attempt to wake up.
He sighed. He knew by now that waking up Aria wasn't an easy task. She was most definitely not a morning person, especially now with the pregnancy.
"Aria, come on, you can sleep once we get to your parent's."
"No." She mumbled.
He sighed once again, as he slowly pushed her off of him. "Babe, if you don't get up, I'll carry you off this plane."
"Is that an offer?" She mumbled, a small smile tugging at her lips.
"Aria."
Huffing in annoyance, she got up, stretching and rubbing her eyes in the process. "I'm up. Are you happy now?"
He followed her lead, placing a soft kiss on her lips before getting their carry-ons. "Very. Now come on, let's not make Spencer wait anymore than she already has to."
She followed closely behind him as they walked towards the exit. As she walked, she kept tugging at her oversized sweatshirt, hoping that the bagginess would at least help in somewhat hiding her swollen tummy for the moment. She wasn't ashamed of her baby. Not at all. She'd never been happier in her life. Knowing that they'd created a little human being, melted her heart and she couldn't wait to welcome their son by the end of the summer. It was more that she was embarrassed she hadn't told anyone. Honestly, she didn't even know why she hadn't. She just wanted to be sure her pregnancy would go well. And even when it did, she still couldn't find a way of telling them.
"I think I see her." Ezra announced, suddenly breaking her from her thoughts. "Yeah, she's right there."
Oh boy. She could feel her heart pounding. As much as she was nervous, she was also excited. She hadn't seen Spencer since her wedding day two years ago. Finally reaching her, Spencer threw her arms around Aria almost instantly.
"I'm so happy to see you." She cried into her hair. "I've missed you so much."
As she went in for another hug, something in between the two friends, made it impossible to hug her tighter. Spencer pulled back immediately, her eyes dropping down to the bulge that had separated the two. Her hands instantly flew to the baby bump, and she gasped as she felt the pregnant belly beneath the sweatshirt.
"Oh my god." Spencer simply whispered.
Aria let out a nervous laugh. "Surprise?"
"Oh my god." Spencer squealed. "You're pregnant!"
Aria nodded.
"Congratulations." She said, hugging them both.
"You're pregnant." She repeated in disbelief. "How far along are you? When are you due? Do you know the gender yet? Why didn't you tell us?"
Aria laughed. "Woah, Spence. One question at a time."
"Why didn't you tell us?" She asked. She wasn't mad, not at all. She was just curious.
"I never found the way to do it. I first wanted to wait until after my first trimester to make sure everything was great, but after, I honestly don't really know."
"You're actually pregnant." She squealed hugging her again. "I'm so happy for you two. I call dibs on being the godmother."
"Of course." Aria smiled. "I wouldn't want it any other way."
"Wow." She whispered as they kept walking. "When are you due?"
"In about four months."
"Is it a boy or girl?"
She smiled up at Ezra, and looked back at Spencer. "Boy." She stated proudly.
Spencer smiled back at the happy couple. "Wait. Do your parents know?"
Shaking her head, she let out a heavy sigh. "Nope."
Spencer could sense how nervous she was and placed her hand on her shoulder.
"Don't worry. They'll be so happy. This is probably the best anniversary gift you could give them."
"I hope so. I just don't want them to be upset."
"They won't be. Don't worry, Ok?"
"Ok."
"I see how it is." Ezra joked. "You'll listen to her, but not me? How many times did I tell you not to worry?"
"Sorry, buddy." Spencer laughed. "But Team Sparia came way before Team Ezria did. I just have more experience in some things than you do."
"She does, babe." Aria stated.
He rolled his eyes playfully as they headed out to the parking lot.
"Ready for the parents?" Aria asked him as she sat beside him.
"Aria, come on." Ezra pleaded as he stood outside Spencer's SUV.
"Ezra, I can't."
"Babe, everything will be Ok." He promised. "Spencer, please come help."
Spencer pulled out the last of their suitcases before walking over to her door. "Aria, don't worry. You have no idea how happy you'll make them by telling them they'll be getting their first grandchild. And not only them, you don't know how happy you'll make everyone in there."
"What?" Aria's eyes grew wide. "Who else is here?"
"The girls and Mike. Your parent made a huge dinner to welcome you two. It's been two years since we've seen you guys."
"Oh god."
"Don't. Worry." Spencer stated.
Aria sighed before getting out. "Ok."
"Geez, Spence. I wish you lived in Seattle to help me out with times like these." He joked.
Ezra gathered their suitcases, Spencer helping, and the three made their way into the Montgomery Household. Ezra placed a comforting kiss on her forehead.
"Aria!" Ella came rushing to them. "Ezra."
She gave Ezra a quick hug, before pulling Aria in for a hug.
"It's been too long." She cried.
"I've missed you, Mom."
"We've missed you too." She smiled. "Come on, dinner's ready in the kitchen. Everyone's waiting."
Phew. She hadn't noticed her swollen stomach. They'd announce it at dinner. It'd be perfect, and hopefully not too awkward. Once they walked in, everyone sat around the large dinner table. Spotting them, they all ran to their side, hugging them both.
"Alright, alright. We can continue this after dinner." Ella announced.
Aria walked over to Byron, leaning down to give him a side hug, and a quick kiss on the cheek.
"I've missed you, Daddy."
"Me too, honey."
Minutes later, they all were engaged in their own little conversations. Most were about the anniversary party the following day. Aria looked over at Ezra sending him a silent message. He nodded before standing up.
"There's something Aria and I need to tell you." He began.
Aria stood next to him, holding his hand encouragingly. "We wanted to tell you, but I just never found the right time to do it."
She breathed out as she placed her hands over her tummy. "I'm pregnant."
"You are?" Hanna and Emily squealed at the same time.
She nodded. "I am."
She glanced over at her parents, both were smiling bigger than she'd ever seen them.
"Oh honey." Ella cried.
"How far along are you, are you showing yet?"
Aria smiled to herself as she pulled off her sweatshirt. She saw everyone's facial expressions change. "I'll be six months next week."
"What?" Hanna screamed. "You're already six months?"
"Yep." Ezra answered. "He'll be joining us at the end of August."
"He?" Byron asked. "You're having a boy?"
There was so much happiness in his eyes as Aria looked at him. "Yeah."
"Congratulations, honey." Byron said as he stood up to hug them both.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you before."
"Don't worry about it." Ella assured. "This is the best news we could ever get."
"Thank you."
"We just might have to move down to Seattle to be closer to you and that little one."
Aria shot them a small smile. Being here, with her family and friends, made her realize she missed Rosewood. Sure, Seattle was her home and she loved it there. But it was only her and Ezra. No one else. In Rosewood, she had her parents and friends. Although Emily lived in New York, as well as Mike, they were still so close. Ezra must have noticed her change in demeanor, as he leaned down to whisper in her ear.
"Are you alright?" He asked.
She nodded. "Just tired."
"Do you want to head up?"
"Sure."
They excused themselves before going up to her old bedroom.
"I think I'll have a shower." She announced. "Care to join?" She smirked.
"Um I think I'll pass. You're parents are just downstairs."
"Exactly. Downstairs."
"Aria, no."
"You're no fun." She pouted before heading into her bathroom.
Ezra chuckled to himself as he started unpacking a few of their things. Aria had been incredibly horny throughout her pregnancy. Not that he minded, of course, but now was not the time. He grabbed his pajamas and a towel, before heading into the hallway bathroom to shower.
Thirty minutes later, as the couple laid on her bed, they thought about how perfect their lives were. They were happily married and expecting their baby boy. Ezra ran his hand up and down Aria's back, something that always helped her relax and sleep. Just as his eyes were closing, Aria softly spoke up.
"Ezra?"
'Yeah, babe?"
She sat up, leaning back against the wall. "Do you ever miss Rosewood?"
He was surprised by her question. "Yeah, sometimes." He responded. "Why?"
Aria sighed in attempt to hold back her tears. Damn hormones. "I don't know. Just being back here, brought back so many memories. It made me realize how much I missed it."
He sat up taking her hands in his.
A tear managed to escape. "As much as I love Seattle, and no matter how happy I am there, Rosewood is my home, and today, I don't know, might be the pregnancy hormones, but today I realized how happy this place makes me."
Ezra leaned forward and kissed her softly. "Are you saying you want to move back? Because if that's what you want, you know I'll go anywhere you go."
Aria smiled, leaning in for another kiss. "And for that, I love you even more. I don't know what I want. I love both places. But I don't want our son growing up with out his family in his life."
"Than we can move back. I love it here as well, and you're right, it will be somewhere nice to raise our child. It's all up to you, babe. Whatever makes you happy."
Aria thought about it for a while before kissing him again. "Ok, then." She smiled. "Let's move back."
She snuggled under the covers, sighing in contentment as Ezra wrapped his arms around him.
"My parents are gonna be so happy." Aria whispered.
"Definitely." He smiled. "First, they find out they'll be grandparents, and now that we're moving back. I have to say, we're probably giving them the best anniversary gift."
She rested her head on his chest as she looked up at him. "Will that ever be us? Celebrating twenty five years of marriage?"
He stared at her intently as he shook his head. Was he serious? Did he really not think they'd be together for that long. She looked down somewhat embarrassed and a little hurt. He gently tilted her chin up, kissing her lips chastely.
"No. Because not only will we celebrating twenty-five — We'll be celebrating fifty, seventy-five, and one hundred years together."
She smiled up at him. "I love you so much."
"I love you more." He replied before kissing her yet again.
Years ago, when Ezra had made that promise to his Dad, he never thought he'd be able to love. He never even gave himself the chance to love. But meeting Aria, falling in love with every little thing she did, was something he'd forever be grateful for. Aria had been the light to his life since the moment her first fell for her. Because of her, he'd become someone he never thought he'd be. Because of her, he was now happily married and just months away from being a father. He wished his own father was still here— wished he could've somehow met Aria. But he knew that wherever he was, he'd be watching over them. Minutes later, he heard the small snores coming from Aria. He kissed her forehead lovingly before closing his eyes. Because of her, his heart was now soft and full of love. Because of Aria, he'd no longer ever have a hardened heart.
