Chapter 12: Tensions

The gang make the decision, will it be the right one?

Bella POV

The next morning Charlie, Jacob, Jack and I all went down to the res, to talk to Billy and the pack about they offer they had been made the previous night. I was the only one who was certain about wanting to go, I knew it was the only way my children could grow up in peace. But, I also knew it was a lot for dad and Jacob to give up, dad had been in the force for many, many yearsand they were like family to him. Then there was the pack, not only were they practically brothers, and sister to Jake, they were to myself too, and all loved and protected Jack with the best of their ability.

The pack arrived as we did, all were phased as they had only finished a patrol, though this made them more susceptible to our feelings. There moods changed as they read the mood of their alpha, he wasn't happy and neither were they. As we all piled into Billy's shed, one by one they phased back and took a seat around us. Billy was in front of the group, his face full of questions, he could tell that there was something wrong with Jacob. Jack stuck close to Jacob, normally he would be making his rounds with the pack, getting cuddles off them all, what Victoria had done has changed him, and I worried that he would never be the same again.

"Something came up last night that has put into question the safety of Jack and the new baby." Jacob began, he took a deep breath and squeezed Jacks hand before he continued. "Edward came to Bella last night to make his peace with her, and let slip that Carlisle received new information, Bella then got very stressed and the baby's heartbeat became weak, I rushed her to Carlisle's where he put her to sleep so that the baby's heartbeat would regain strength. Whilst Bella was sleeping Carlisle told me that the Volturi were after Bella, they are a very powerful group of vampires that consider themselves royalty, and were told by Victoria that Bella used to be with Edward, but was now mated with me, and had my baby, they see this as a great disrespect to them and want to destroy her and the kids." He explained. I wished that Jack wasn't hear to hear this, but there was nothing he could do, he could understand it to some extent and had turned pale. Jacob lifted him up and Jack laid his head on his shoulder, soaking up the warmth that we both loved.

"We can fight them, can't we?" Sam asked

"We can but we need more than us, and even the Cullen's. Carlisle has found a large clan of vampires that have been planing an uprising for the last millennia now, they are vegetarian and want to protect the human race, which is why they want to bring down the Volturi, who feed on human blood, but they need the help of the other clans of wolves, the uprising needs to be bigger and better than what anyone has ever seen before."

"How are they supposed to make an alliance with the wolves?" Leah asked. "It's unprecedented, they only reason there is a true alliance between the Cullens and us is Bella."

"Carlisle said that there was another alliance centuries ago, and that the imprint of the chief predicted that two women would come to forks and form an alliance again. Carlisle believes that Bella is the first one and that Bella and I are having a girl and she will be the second one, he said the revolution is nearing its beginning." Jacob explained

"That's not all, the only way our girl could help form an alliance is by mating with a vampire, with her being half wolf it's the perfect thing. Edward seems to be under the impression that she will be his new singer." I added.

"Over my dead body." Billy said and the pack murmured in agreement.

"We know." Bella said and took a deep breath, the worst part was coming, the whole pack would be devastated and would certainly be in uproar. "Last night Emmett and Rosalie came to us, with a letter from Carlisle, he thinks that the only way to keep Edward and the Volturi away from the kids is by us going on the run. He has offered us $20 million to go on the run, and Rosalie and Emmett are coming with us because they know how to go into hiding properly, and can be alerted to the presence of vampires with a ten minute warning."

"No!" They all yelled simultaneously and Jack jumped at the noise. One look from Jacob silenced them all.

"You can't be seriously thinking about doing this, can you?" Billy asked, he looked thoroughly heart broken.

"Carlisle said you could come, Billy. He says that the only reason that you've been told that you can't fly is because no one would insure you, but with the security of the money that won't be a problem."

"We're not charity cases" snapped Billy.

"That's what Jake said." My dad said speaking for the first time. "But as Rosalie pointed out, they are only trying to help us protect the kids, they know all out money is sunk into the house, and they have a lot of money and want to do some good with it."

"Jack can't be anywhere near vampires right now, how are you going to live with two of them?" Sam asked, we knew it would hit him the hardest, he and Jakes bond had been strengthened ten fold as they fought side by side as alpha and beta, and Jack was like his own. We hadn't thought about that until now. I looked and Jacob and he looked down at Jack, who was half sleeping on Jacob's shoulders, I could see the heartbreak in his eyes, this was tearing him apart.

"We have time, our new passports won't be here for two weeks, and we don't have to leave right away. I want Jack to be comfortable with Rosalie and Emmett again, they miss him so much and I don't want him living in fear of them any more, this will help. We don't have to go until he feels better again." Jake replied, still looking at Jack.

"You're not seriously thinking about this are you Jake?" Sam had asked, his tone and their facial expressions said it all, they were heartbroken at the thought of losing a brother.

"I don't want to, I really don't" he said, his voice breaking. "But I'm wondering if it's what's best for the kids. I know you all can protect them, but I want to be able to raise my kids without worrying someone is going to kill them, or that a leech will try and take my daughter away from me."

"You can't leave us." Seth said he was crying and some of the others weren't far behind him.

"I don't want to...but I have to consider it for the sake of my kids, and I want you guys to support me."

"I support you." Leah said "I know the only reason you're doing this is to give your kids a life without fear." With in a few minutes most of the pack agreed. Only Sam, Seth, Embry and Quil didn't.

"I'm sorry, but I can't stand buy your turning your back on us." Sam said standing up and the other three followed him out. I stood there in shock as Jacob broke and began crying. It seemed like we we're loosing some of our family before the fight had even begun.

Two days later and things hadn't gotten any better, Sam, Seth, Embry and Quil still weren't talking to Jacob, and he was becoming depressed, normally an argument between them was resolved in no time at all, but this time, I was afraid that we had lost four of our brothers and that was hurting me too. It was six thirty and in just an hour and a half, Rosalie and Emmett were going to be here to ask us if we had made our decision yet. I had, but Jake, my dad and Billy hadn't. I wanted to leave because I knew in my heart, no matter how much protection the Cullens and the pack could give us, it wouldn't compare to being able to bring my children up in a safe environment where no one knew us and where Edward couldn't get us. We would never be safe from the Volturi until they were killed, but moving to somewhere, where they didn't know where we were, had to be a lot safer.

We had all just finished dinner and were now lounging in front of the T.V trying to relax and forget about the huge, life changing decision that we had to make. It was hard but we all were trying for Jacks sake. At seven forty-five Jack was tucked up in bed and fast asleep and we were sat around the kitchen table trying to make our decision.

"Jacob?" I asked, I wanted us all to agree to go, but Jacob's decision was the most important to me, I wanted him to want to go, I wouldn't leave him here, I couldn't because I couldn't live without him, and I wouldn't take Jack and our new baby away from him, it would kill him. He looked into my eyes and I saw the utter anguish in them, he gave a slight forced smile before going back to staring at the picture he held. It was of Jack, one when he was born, one at the age of one and the last was at the age of two. Jacob had bought me the photo frame for Christmas, and I had chose to document Jack's growth in it, Jacob stroked the picture of Jack when he was born, he was remembering the simpler times. He looked up at me and stood up he came to where I was sitting and placed his hand on my slightly swollen stomach, he stoked it gently for a few minutes before looking into my eyes.

"I have to do it. I will do it for them, and for you." He said as he stroked my cheek.

"I love you so much" I said to him placing a kiss on his lips.

"I love you two, all three of you." He replied smiling genuinely.

"If this is what you want son, then I will go with you, I will lot lose you, nor my grand kids, nor Bella." Billy said giving each of them a kiss.

"Me too" my dad added. "I will follow you kids everywhere." I had just enough time to thank them all, and give them a long hug when the door bell rang. I went and answered it and led Rosalie and Emmett into the kitchen.

"Have you made your decision yet?" Rosalie asked, but I had a suspicion that she already knew the answer to that.

"Yes" Jacob said coming to stand beside me. "We have decided to go with you."

"Oh thank god" Rosalie exclaimed and hugged us both, and to my dads and Billy's surprise she hugged them too.

"Just a few conditions first" Jake said "We can't go in two weeks, I want Jack to be completely comfortable with being around you both before we leave and I'm not sure how long that is going to take, he's still pretty traumatised."

"That's understandable, it gives us some proper time to make arrangements and it will make Edward less suspicious than he would be if we left immediately after the revelation." Emmett said in agreement, but Rosalie looked uneasy.

"Rosalie we are going, I promise you, we just want to take our time and get Jack back to full health." I said taking her hand trying to reassure her. She nodded in agreement and gave me another big hug. They stayed for another ten minutes before going home to make arrangements. Not long after they left, Jacob took his dad home and we all went to bed, all exhausted after the days events.

The next day Jacob went to Sam house, he hated not talking to his pack brothers, especially Sam. He and Jacob had formed a tight bond over the sharing of the alpha duties, and he had been good enough to take on more than his fair share when Jack was in danger. He sighed and knocked the door, Sam knew it would be him, he could smell him coming, and was hesitant in answering the door to Jacob.

"Come on man, I know you're in there I can hear you breathing, besides, I have Jack with me and it's cold." Jacob said, he heard Sam growl before he opened the door. Jacob set Jack down and he ran into the living room and bounced on Emily, as she sat watching the T.V.

"Hey little guy" she said brightly, as Sam led Jacob into the kitchen. It was out of earshot of Jack, but still in his line of sight.

"You bring him because you knew I wouldn't refuse to see him? Sam snarled. Jacob looked at his beta and a deep growl emanated from his chest. Jack looked at his dad worriedly and Jacob calmed himself, last thing he wanted was to scare his son.

"If I wasn't so worried about scaring Jack, I would slap you stupid for that remark." He growled in a lower tone. Sam sneered.

"What do you want?" He growled and Emily shot him a warning glance.

"I want us to make peace" Jacob began and Sam sneered and turned away from him. "Before I leave for good." He added making Sam turn around.

"You're really leaving?" Emily asked as she joined them in the kitchen, she left Jack sitting on the sofa and switched some cartoons on for him.

"Yes, I have to" He said and Sam growled in response.

"Never thought I'd see the day when the almighty alpha left his pack without a second thought." He snarled and Emily dug her elbow into his ribs as a warning.

"You think this was easy for me?" Jacob whispered harshly. "I am being torn in two by doing this."

"Yeah, right" Sam sneered getting up in Jacobs face. "You aren't fit to be alpha." Jacob had to take deep breathes to stop him from hitting Sam then and there.

"Look at Jack." Jacob said making Sam lift his eyebrow. "Look at him!" He said in a stronger tone. Sam did and his heart and face softened as he stared at the tiny bundle that changed all of their lives. "You love him don't you?" All Sam could do was nod. "Well so do I. He's my precious little boy, whom I would die for. I am doing this for him, to keep him safe."

"We can keep him safe." Sam snarled as he tore his eyes away from Jack.

"I know you can. But I want him to grow up with a life without fear. Edward is after my daughter, he could steal her away from me and Bells. I want her to grow up as far away from Edward as possible."

"You don't even know if the baby is a girl. What if it's a boy? What are you going to do then?"

"We won't be leaving immediately, there's a few things I want to do first. Jack has to get used to Rosalie and Emmett first." Jake argued "We will still be here when the time comes where we could find out the baby's sex."

"And if it's a boy?"

"We still have to protect Jack. This isn't easy for me Sam, and I need you to stand buy me."

"Why should I?" He snapped

"Because you're more than just my pack brother, you are like a blood brother to me and you have done so much for me, much more than you should have. I can't leave here without your support."

"Looks like you'll have to stay then."

"I can't Sam! I want you to be my brother again. Plus, I want to marry Bella before we leave, and I want you to be my best man."
