Chapter 1

.

"Natsu! Stop dilly-dallying and do your job!" a short white-haired woman fumed after finding the said man in his office just lying down in the sofa. She frowned. Here she was, walking from one office to another in their building just to get the papers done, while her boss lazily lies down and rests whenever he wished.

"Lisanna… can't I rest or sleep for a while? I've been working non-stop for the past 48 hours! The longest hour I had for sleep is only 5 hours and it just happened once for the past two days! I want to sleep now. I want to go home. I already missed my house and bed. " The pink-haired man whined weakly. He felt that all his energy has been drained. He never thought that he will see a day when he can't even sit upright, not even when Cana challenged him to drink with her all night despite their working schedules the next morning.

Today, he easily gets distracted and found himself dozing off and nodding his head towards sleep. Thankfully, he can still function and do his work properly.

He knew he is not this tired even when he and Gray would have a competition on who is stronger for a whole day. Today was just different for he felt that he reached his limit, and no matter how much coffee he would drink this day, it will still be not enough.

Lisanna was Natsu's friend since middle school. And since Lisanna also took the same course as Natsu in college, their friendship continued to strengthen. They were always seen together before, and you will not see one without the other. They were always on the same class, always eating together, always going to festivals and proms together, and they did almost everything together to the point that a day came when Lisanna's elder siblings told people that their little sister was spending more time with Natsu than with them.

Now, Lisanna is working as Natsu's secretary and she also became his best friend. She's one of the few people he trusts and deeply cares for. But all of that was threatened to fall apart when she decided to tell her true feelings, one night when they were about to go home.

"Lisanna…? What are you doing? Aren't you supposed to fix your things? Come on now, I'm hungry and I want to sleep." Natsu noticed Lisanna's strange behavior.

"Hey! I'll leave you here if you'll just stand there." He said. Still, Lisanna isn't responding. She just continued to stare at her desk, brows furrowed and thinking deeply.

Unsure of what to do, he decided to walk away, only to stop when Lisanna suddenly shouted, "I love you, Natsu!"

He abruptly turned around and stared wide-eyed at Lisanna's pink-tinged cheeks. Flustered, he held his breath and waited for her to say something.

"I-I love you, Natsu." She repeated and blushed even more. "I didn't know when it happened… but I found myself loving you more every day. I followed you everywhere, even taking the job as your secretary, because I want to stay by your side forever." She continued, fidgeting and trying hard to meet his stare but failing miserably.

Shocked by her sudden confession, Natsu never thought that his best friend was harbouring such feeling for him. Awkwardly facing her now and seeing her expectant face, he tried to think of something to say, something that wouldn't cause her any pain, but he could only think of one way to tell her what he feels.

"I'm sorry Lissana. I love and I care for you…" He paused, "…but not romantically..." Natsu answered, looking into her eyes, but only seeing hurt and sadness.

Her gaze dropped to the floor and she told herself, 'I thought so. I shouldn't have said that to him! I know I don't have a chance… I've been with him for a long time but… Why?! He just saw her once and that girl immediately stole his heart and mind.'

"You know that she belongs to the arms of another man now. You will just get hurt." She whispered later. Natsu heard her nonetheless. She's doing her best to get him out of his one-sided love and to make him realize that he will be better with her−

"Yes, I know. But I can't help it, you know that." He answered, stepping towards her and trying to catch her eye but she continued to avoid his gaze.

It hurts him to know that he is hurting his friend. But he really can't love her. His heart and mind is already set to a single girl whom he always tried to steal glances from during his college days…

She sighed and finally looked up at Natsu.

"Okay, Natsu. I understand. Don't worry… I will be fine and nothing will change between us." She said, more like to convince herself. She figured out that she can't force Natsu to like her, especially to forget her. She might ruin the friendship that they built for years just because she can't accept rejection.

'But it hurts. It hurts to think that he chose that girl over me. I, who knew everything about him, who understands him, who can love him unconditionally… But I have no right to dictate my best friend's heart, do I? So I just have to accept what fate has thrown at me. I needed to accept Natsu's decision.' She knows that it also hurt him to reject her but he needed to be honest and if she made a huge fuss out of this, then he will just be hurt even more. After all, who wants to see their loved ones in pain? No one, right? So she has to stay strong and find some other man who will love her as much as she will love him. Although she knows-feels- she can't find someone like that… She will just wait for the time when Natsu will be too fed up by loving a girl from afar and who doesn't even know him… She would just wait.

Natsu smiled at her sadly but was surprised when he heard what Lisanna had to say. "But I need a vacation, Natsu. Maybe for a month and everything will go back to normal- before this stupid confession happened." She said with pleading eyes, hoping that he will agree to her conditions.

It was now Natsu's turn to sigh "Okay, but be sure to come back. I don't want to lose a friend because of this."

"I will." She said and smiled at him, Natsu smiled back and they parted ways.

The truth is, Natsu was scared when he rejected his best friend. He was scared that she'll hate him and leave him because he can't return the love that she felt for him. But, all those fears left, as fast as they came, when she told him that she understood what he meant. He closed his eyes momentarily and thanked the heavens for they had given her a very kind and understanding best friend.

Lisanna was gone for a month and Natsu got a temporary secretary until she gets back. And when she finally got back, Natsu noticed that his cheerful best friend and their relationship were back, the way it was before, and he was genuinely happy for that. Otherwise, he wouldn't know what to do if it didn't. They're not awkward with each other and Lisanna showed that she is indeed moving on when she told Natsu about dates she had with a certain guy, and he could see that she is truly happy; unlike him who felt that his heart had been stolen by a girl who hardly sees him as anything more than a stranger.

"No. Finish your work first. If you finished it today, then you can go back home later and you can have tomorrow as a day off." Lisanna strictly said at the nodding head in front of her, waking him up from his trance.

"Can I just have at least two hours of sleep?" Natsu sleepily asked, trying to convince the white-haired woman to give him a very deserving break.

"No. Geez! You are the laziest boss I have ever seen." Lisanna said, annoyed by Natsu's constant whining and avoidance of work.

"And you're the strictest secretary I have ever seen." Natsu mocked her.

"You're not the one who receives the glare of Erza if you don't finish you're work on time." Lisanna said. Erza is scaring the hell out of her with her glare because of her boss.

"Fine. Fine. I'll work now and try to finish it today, just don't forget about my day off tomorrow." He dejectedly went back to his desk to hopefully finish this paper works so he could have his well-deserved day off. He yawned as he tried to finish what's needed to be done. He spent the whole day in his desk, using every last bit of energy to finish his paper works, and was allowed to go home for the day.

Natsu was finally able to go home after two days of spending his time working in his office. He lives alone in a well-furnished, modern-decorated manor. He arrived hungry but also too exhausted to get food, so he just sat onto his black couch. After placing his phone and keys onto the coffee table in front of him, he thought about whether he should just rest first or if he'll eat then rest later. He looked into the distance and thought about how he got himself in this kind of situation…

Natsu Dragneel is a young businessman. He is the new CEO of Fairy Tail Enterprise. The company isn't originally his nor from his parents. He was just chosen as the successor of the company. The former CEO of the company is Makarov Dreyar, his adoptive father. Natsu was found by Makarov when he was young, wandering on the streets of Magnolia, alone with nothing in his possession while looking for his father. His stone-hearted tenant had thrown him out of his apartment and not letting him in, and telling that all their things will be sold to pay all their debts. Makarov asked him what happened and Natsu told him that his father had gone missing, leaving him alone. Makarov, soft-hearted as he is, decided to take Natsu with him, thinking the child might not survive on his own.

When they arrived at Makarov's house, Natsu discovered that Makarov has many adopted children. He talked to the other children named Erza, Cana, Gajeel and Wendy. He also met a raven-haired boy named Gray who he immediately disliked. He asked everyone how they met Makarov, or Master as they like to call him. He thought its weird calling him Master but started calling him like that anyways.

After a day with the other children, Master asked him if he wants to join their family. Without second thoughts, he immediately accepted it. They held a party that night and everyone was happy for their new family addition and welcomed Natsu. But, even though he gained a new family, Natsu still tried to find his father with the help of Master.

Makarov lets them keep their surnames, unlike most of the adoptive children who have taken their adoptive parent's surname. When they asked him why, he answered, "Surnames are not important. It doesn't mean that you're not my child if you don't bear the same name as I have because I love you all as my children and will be forever be proud with all of you."

To repay their new father's kindness, Natsu and his siblings did their best to excel in their studies, with the goal of helping Master in his business after they graduate. When they reached college, Master announced that he will choose one of his children to be the next CEO of Fairy Tail. The announcement surprised them since they know about Laxus, Master's grandson who is currently studying in another country. Master told them that Laxus doesn't want any headaches and refused to become the successor of the company. Laxus also said that he wanted to be acknowledged for the things he did, probably for self-fulfilment, but promised his grandfather that he would come and help them if they needed it. And right before the graduation ceremony, Master announced that he has chosen the next CEO. And that is how Natsu became the new CEO of Fairy Tail. He still remembered what his traitor siblings have said when they agreed.

"I agree. If I will inherit the company, the alcohol that I drink will surely be lessened." The drunkard Cana said.

"If I will be the successor, I will surely be forced to wear suits all the time to keep the good image of the company so I agree to you Master." The stripper Gray said, smirking as he saw the look of horror in Natsu's face. Natsu never expected Gray to agree to something that will surely make him ahead.

"It's fine. Becoming a boss isn't my thing." Gajeel said while yawning, clearly uninterested to the conversation.

"I think Natsu-nii will be a great boss." Wendy said, thinking that everyone but herself fits to be the next CEO. She saw how hard her siblings tried to excel in their studies, she too is trying her best but she decided that she has a lot more to learn.

"Wait! How about Erza? She is intelligent and knows a lot about business. She is a hardworking person too." Natsu intercepted, trying to change Master's mind.

"Are you telling us that Master's decision is wrong?" Erza asked dangerously at Natsu, who immediately went stiff after receiving the devil's death glare.

"N-No." Natsu backed away from Erza.

"I will accept whatever decision Master has made." Erza said later, facing Master with all seriousness.

"I'm happy that all of you agreed! Don't worry. Though Natsu is the CEO of Fairy Tail, all of you will still have rights in the company. So go forth my children and make our business prosperous with the hard work from all of you!" Master's voice boomed, dismissing them… And Natsu never got a chance to back out.

"What the heck is that?! I thought you all want to help Master?!" he shouted at his siblings.

"Yes, and we still want to. It doesn't mean that you becoming the CEO will make us useless in the company. We will still have our jobs there to help you run the company." Erza said.

"It just means that you will do most of the work while we will have an enjoyable life." Gray smirked before he walked away to go to his own room. The others did the same, leaving Natsu thinking about all the negative things that he might do in the future which may bring the company down. And that will surely bring him his own demise.

It actually took him two weeks of listening to Wendy's and Lisanna's encouragement- and listening to Erza's threats- before he took the position of the CEO of Fairy Tail.

Even though Natsu's hardships started in his last year in college, he doesn't entirely hate his college years…. because that was the time when he saw the girl that he deemed he will love forever, even after knowing that she can never be his. She was also the reason why Natsu doesn't have any girlfriend now; he can't seem to find anyone that could surpass her in his eyes...−

Natsu was interrupted from his thoughts when he heard a loud knock. He quickly opened the door and gasped when he saw the beautiful blonde that was in his thoughts standing on the other side.

He immediately knew something was wrong when he notice the blonde's belly was somewhat big and you can notice it even under her seemingly thick shirt. He was confused because he knows that Lucy is sexy and is actually concerned about her figure…

so how come she became this fat?

Staring intently at her now, his eyes widened when she spoke. "You're the father of my child, Mr. Dragneel." Lucy said with all seriousness in her face.
