Chapter 9

The Book Which Might Have A Solution

The guild was as noisy as ever as brawls after brawls took place in the very same place. It was quite surprising that these people got some severe wounds, yet still managed to fight. Boy, they sure loved fighting. As if they got paid for it.

Near the bar counter, a blonde sat deep in thought, the air around her giving off a gloomy aura. She would tilt her head one moment, and jerk it on the other side next moment. Sometimes, she would rub her forehead against the wooden surface. Even, messing her already untidy hair with her sharp nails. All in all, it was quite disturbing and worrisome sight to look at. The demon mage felt it and moved towards the celestial spirit mage.

"What happened, Lucy?" Mirajane asked gently.

Lucy remained in the very same position, only moving her eyelashes up (which were all puppy dog for some reason)

"Wait, you aren't gonna grope me, are you?" The demon mage stated cautiously, in a shock.

But the blonde didn't do anything, just kept staring at the white-haired mage. This made her even more conscious. Although she was that Mirajane, the lovely matchmaker who loved teasing others, the recent symptoms of the blonde were far too much even for her. The fact that she didn't grope her today, was even more daunting.

Just in time, Levy arrived.

"Lu-chan, what happened?" She asked, bringing her face near her.

"Levy-chan!" The blonde started crying, as if she was demanding a hug from the bookworm.

"Yeah... So Mira, how are things going with Laxus?" Levy questioned, ignoring her best friend's very existence.

"You know... We are going out." The barmaid admitted shyly.

"Really? Wow, congrats~" Levy chirped, raising her hands.

"Thanks. You know, Laxus is very satisfying in bed~" Mira squealed.

"That's so romantic~" The solid script mage screamed with joy.

"Hey, don't ignore me!" Lucy yelled.

The blonde had hands in air as she moved closer and closer to the shorty.

"Don't grope me, anything but that." Levy cried, eyes shut.

To her surprise, nothing came. The blonde just stood there, looking at them as if she was in a bind.

"I won't. More like, why you guys act surprised? I do that all the time..." Lucy stated quietly but sadly.

Levy eyed at Mira as they both felt sorry for the comrade with amnesia.

"You are acting weird. Everything's alright?" Levy said worriedly, avoiding her question.

"Will you guys laugh if I tell you...?" Lucy stated slowly in a melancholic tone.

"We are your friends, Lucy." Mirajane stated in a motherly tone. Levy nodded with a smile.

"Guys..."

"Is Gray here? I don't want him to know this all..." Lucy narrowed her eyes.

"No, he just took a job with Juvia and went out. He looked quite dejected for some reason, poor guy." Mira informed, feeling sorry.

"I see..."

Reminiscing the events of previous night, she sighed for the umpteenth time. She didn't tell anyone, but the very thought of ice maker with the water mage just stabbed her heart but she decided to shake it away, for now. Besides, she was the one at fault for him.

"Actually, you know... Recently, I feel strange."

"Strange...? What do you mean?" The oldest of the group inquired.

"Actually, I feel like something's missing. Something important."

The blunnette's eyes widened at this.

"What do you feel's missing?" Levy uttered in a slightly louder tone.

Realizing she sounded too exciting, the blunette immediately covered her mouth, saying,

"Sorry..."

"Nah, it's alright. How can I put it... Like I am not the way I am. Like the me right now is a different 'me' "She said emphatically, gesturing around.

"Like this isn't the way I am supposed to be. I don't feel free. Of course, I feel that this is how it has been all along but it feels wrong..." Lucy bellowed, her throat feeling soar.

"To be honest, I felt it yesterday... With Gray, it felt so troubling... Whatever he said, I couldn't remember it... When he left and I thought about it, it felt so suffocating and painful and then I had this headache..." Lucy let out a painful sigh.

"Lucy..."

"Gomen, gomen. I am talking weird don't I? Me worried about a guy? Pfft, bad joke. You don't have to take my seriously." She threw her hand carelessly, obviously acting.

"Now that I had my energy refilled thanks to my darlings, I will go back to my usual self and—"

"Idiot, Lucy!" Levy screamed, face darkening.

"Faking like that. Just what do you take us far? Do you think you are the only one who felt it? We felt it too. Don't be sad just yourself, share us in your worries as well!" Levy spoke on top of her lungs, catching everyone's attention.

"Lucy. Bearing it yourself is bad." Mirajane lectured.

"Even I... even I want to help you..." Levy hiccuped and started to cry loudly.

This was the first time, Lucy had seen her fellow bookworm so angry. Moreover, this was the time she had seen a person show anger and cry at the same time.

She took the shorter mage into her arms and started to pat her head.

"I can remember some moments with him... but I feel like... the happiest moments are missing... The moments which worth the most are gone... Like what he told me. I felt it, I really did..."

Levy didn't say a thing, she just kept staring at the floor, not budging an inch. Lucy's eyes widened at first, then she relaxed.

"Levy-chan, you know something...don't you?" Lucy asked softly, playing with the strands of ocean-blue hair.

"I... I don't know." Levy avoided her stare, forcing herself not to speak.

"It's alright. I can understand so if you don't wanna tell, even then it's alright." The stellar spirit mage smiled painfully, her eyes wrinkled.

"It's not like that, Lu-chan! I wanna tell you, I really wanna tell but... If I do... Lu-chan will... You'll—" Levy struggled with her words, nearly moved to tears.

Lucy peeked at Mira's face which showed a similar expression. Her eyelashes bend down, her face showing an unhappy expression. She didn't like it.

Just when Levy tried to speak more, Lucy covered her mouth, eyeing her to stop speaking.

"I know, Levy-chan. You must have your reasons so you can't tell me no matter what. I appreciate your concern, really." She paused, patting her head.

"The Levy I know, will never do anything to hurt me so stop crying, ne?" She grinned.

The solid script mage made a failed attempt at smiling.

"Sorry, Lucy. I am so sorry!" She started to cry even louder.

"Like I said..." The blonde sweat-dropped.

Taking this chance, she quickly grasped Mira's hand tightly.

"And Mira-san. Talking with you really made me feel happy. Thanks." She beamed brightly, the smile of the sun.

"I am just so glad you have cheered up..." Mira passed a motherly smile.

"Mm. This is my problem and I must solve it myself." She spoke energetically, raising a fist.

Just in time, Mira and Levy passed an eerie glare at their fellow.

"O-of-course, with you guys help..." She sweat-dropped once again and the three began to laugh.

Everyone sighed with relief at this conclusion.

The three stayed like this for a few minutes, hand in hand. In this short period, no words were spoken yet so much was understood.

Lucy knew her friend cared for her and she felt the very same. If she had them and her feelings, she had no fears. Not at all.

"Lu-chan, one thing I'll tell you." Levy said in a serious tone.

She looked at the demon mage for a moment, as if asking her opinion. The white-haired mage closed her eyes suggestively, hinting she should.

"Actually you have amnesia." Levy informed her.

"Eh?"

As everything had been resolved peacefully, the guild calmed down. Everyone was just lazing around. Some went looking for a job, others just stayed there, fooling around. A few hardcore fight lovers were still sharing fists, mainly Natsu, Gajeel and few others. Gray would have been too, if only he hadn't been on a mission.

Among them, a blunnette stood comfortably, carefully examining the room. She felt guilty for not telling her blonde friend.

She looked at the younger take-over sibling, who was peeking at the flame dragon slayer from behind. She caught her stare at his rear, and the drool emitting from the white-haired sibling's mouth.

Then she looked at the iron dragon slayer, who was smiling while having a fist-fight. As if anyone smiles when they are fighting.

She had a round-about idea of the situation which led to the current situation of her best friend. She wanted to help to the best of abilities, but she had heard about this in a book. She had researched everything the previous day, The reason why everyone was acting weird, she had a rough idea about it but she was in no place to tell it out. If she did then, anything could happen.

Especially, her best friend was in the worst condition. Informing her about everything, could make things as worse as brain damage and possible death. She didn't want to take the risk so only told her about bits and pieces, like how her memory is missing.

She didn't tell her which of her memories were exactly missing, nor that those were only romantic memories shared with Gray. That was her share to figure out.

It wasn't like, she didn't want to. More like, she couldn't notify her because of a reason. She had researched this case, after all. had a rough idea about the solution, but she definitely couldn't tell it to anyone. Definitely.

It all happened the previous day. While the blonde was knocked out, she felt anxious and wanted to do something for her. She headed out to the guild library and there, she found a the truth. The terrifying truth.

Flashback

"I am worried about Lu-chan... She tried to grope me like that..." Levy mumbled to herself as she took quick steps to the library. She wanted to do something for her friend, anything.

"I've heard they grow like this but... " She whispered to herself, clenching her chest as she moved to the specific bookshelf, searching for any book which could help her friend.

The bookshelf she was standing next to, had all books related to memories, memory magics and other associated topics. She had a feeling she could find something here, now that she knew her friend's memories were altered.

"But I wanted Gajeel to do that instead..." She murmured sadly, as she rubbed the same spot in circular motion.

.

Face turns beat red.

.

Her head started to spin as continued to jolt around.

"G-get a hang of yourself, Levy! R-right now, you gotta help your friends!" She stammered, as her movements turned into that of a robot.

The world started to spin more and more as found her head butting against the bookcase. At least, that helped her gain her consciousness. She quickly shook her head and slapped her face twice. Finally, she was wide back.

Suddenly, she caught sight of a book on the ground.

It had a shiny red cover and the title cover was glowing, its light piercing the surroundings. Levy grabbed it, lifting it with her hand.

"Now let's see..."

The title read "Grammijk", which meant "Memories" in an ancient language. Levy understood this language fluently so there were no problems.

She took out her "Gale-Force Reading Glasses" and started to read the book at a speed of lightning. Her finger moving towards her mouth, as she pressed it in between. For, the contents were far more surprising and interesting than she had thought.

"It couldn't be... No way..." She squeaked.

As she finished reading, she placed the book on shelf slowly. Sliding against the wall, she found her mind freezing.

She knew everything now. What was going on them and just what lead to their complicated situation. Why multiple people changed personality? The book explained it all.

Why Lucy was behaving like a lesbian.

Why Lisanna had become a pervert.

Why Gray became a tsundere.

And why Gajeel always kept smiling.

She herself had gained these mysterious leadership qualities, which she didn't have before.

Combining this all with the facts she obtained from the books, she felt like she had solved a puzzle. A complex series of event led after to another and this is how this chain was made.

The book read,

"Every year, during a particular full-moon night, chances are that any wish of a single person can be fulfilled. The wish can be as complex or simple as the wisher wants. but certain conditions are to be met. The conditions are,

1) The full-moon night can be any of the ones occurring in the entire year, means only one night is not to be guaranteed to grant your wish. The possibility depends on all the nights round the year.

2) The actual full-moon night date will change every year. No night is to be repeated

3) When the full moon emerges, only then wisher will be granted the permission to express his desire.

4) Only one wish is to be granted and only one person will be chosen each year. Furthermore, just like nights, the wish aren't to be repeated. The person whose wish is already granted, can't wish again so choose wisely.

5) The magic lies in: the wish needs to be pure and from the bottom of your heart.

6) If other people are to be involved, then there is a limit. The wish can't affect all the people but only the one you share a close bond with.

7))Most important of all,

The person needs to be in love, and in true love.

Note - If a group of people is involved then trying to undo the wish can make things complicated and effects can vary as far as eventual death, so beware.

The one who read this book, can't tell this hint to any other person. Others must grasp the truth themselves, be it finding it themselves from this book.

Hint 1 - Usually, the solution tends to be related to romance as well.

In most cases - As long as the feelings get conveyed properly and those feelings turn out to be mutual, any after-effects of the wish vanish completely.

Hint 2 - People are usually affected in the form of pairs. Looking around might help.

If these aforementioned conditions are met, only then your desires will be acceded. May you be the lucky one to have your wish granted. We wish you good luck.

This is all the blunette could get from the book, the remaining she had to get on her own. She just lay there, pondering carefully. She had to do it herself and if she was to involve another person, she needed to be very careful or else, anyone could suffer.

If the contents were to be trusted, then the culprit was someone in the guild. True, her guild members weren't the only people she shared a bond with but the fact, that the other affected people also happened to be her guild members, turned her doubt into surety that wish was made by one of her fellows.

It could be anyone but for now, she was paying more attention to the affected beings.

She was thinking hard to get her friends out of this condition, a little too hard. Just in the process, she heard a noise.

The next thing she saw was, a freaked out Gajeel rushing towards her at a speed of light. This made her jaw-drop.

"Oye, midget. Dodge!" He order around, swinging his arms around. Looked like he had his breaks loose.

"Gajeel! Why are you—"

Then she looked at his foot, and what? She found a freaking skate-board beneath his feet. A skate-board for heaven's sake! Not only this, he was still smiling while skating like a king when in reality, he had no idea how to skate board at all!

.

"J-just to tell you, it wasn't me." Natsu stammered loudly, sweating all over.

The raijinshuu tribe just gave him a deadly look at this, at which he flinched.

.

"Look I'm sorry, just dodge!" He screamed, flailing.

Too interested in his appearance, the bookworm couldn't prepare herself and then the next thing, she found was Gajeel coming close to her. Too close.

"What should I do?!"

"Tch. If this is how it's gonna be, then so be it." Gajeel uttered.

Quickly positioning himself, he tried to change the skate-board's direction and just as he did, he jumped out at the blunnette.

Levy, who had no idea about this sudden development, just stood there, daydreaming.

"Hey! Are you hearing me?"

This startled her.

She heard his masculine voice right next to her ear. Before she could do anything, even handle herself, she found herself in the muscular arms of the iron dragon slayer. His momentum, now combined with that of Levy's, made them move in a circle briskly. They both closed their eyes as they sprinted over and over.

Then she felt something.

"What? Was it just her, or did she really feel something soft pressed against her mouth?" Levy talked to herself, as she found herself buried beneath a heavy weight.

The moment she realized, just what 'soft' was, she freaked to herself. Her insides froze. Her outsides stopped working and just laid there, motionless. Just enjoying a sweet kiss with the iron dragon slayer.

It was short. It was electric.

The moment his lips left hers, she felt disappointed.

Their eyes met again. Their orbs entangled into an intense gaze.

.

.

.

Then she found herself heating up a little too much. Her heart thumping crazily.

She found a very awkward dragon slayer on top of her, eyeing her passionately as she inhaled in his aroma.

She gawked at Gajeel who was probably even redder than her. But even if his face screamed "surprise", for some reason there was still a god-damned cocky smile on his face which she had begun to hate now.

To think, she could be seen in such an awkward situation, she felt like pressing the life-reset button now.

Eyes moist with tears. Cheeks bright-red.

"G-gajeel no... Gajeel no... bakaaaa!" She screeched as if her voice would reach the heavens.

"Don't get me wrong, it was an accident!" Gajeel howled.

The only worth-mentioning thing in the guild was, the ear-piercing clapping and yells of her guild members and a (still smiling) Gajeel lying at a foot distance away, who apparently got slapped.

Using this as a chance, Levy ran from the guild and ran like a gale. Tears of humiliation had blinded her eyes

" Why did I... why did I have to s-share a k-k-k-kiss with that Gajeel?!"

[To Be Continued...]

Writer's Corner

Note - Okay, this is important. As I explained before, the people in love (but unable to express their feelings) were the only one affected by the wish. In Lucy's case, things turned out even more complicated. Lucy really got Amnesia due to her hitting that stone, but only romance-related memories of Gray disappeared becasue some inconsistencies occurred in the wish when she was about to face the outcome of her wish.

The romance-related memories were directly related to that wish so that's why, only those disappeared.

I know it's complexa but well... This was long, very long. And I think, my writing skills have been begun to start rusting for some reason. Dunno why :/ I know, this chapter is kinda huge information dump, I am sorry for that.

Anyways, who do you think the culprit is? *wink wink* You guys know that person already, perhaps :p

Okay, this chapter, there was no Gray. For the readers who missed him, here is a little off-screen fun.

(Poor guy. He is on a mission with Juvia cuz the shock in the previous chapter was too much for him to take)

Me : Don't worry Gray, I'll do something for you so don't cry.

Gray (screams while sniffing ): I-it's not like I am crying for L-lucy or anything. More like I am not crying!

Me : There you go again, being a tsundere.

Gray : I'm not!

Me : *whistles*

Gray : Hey, don't ignore me!

Hahah, this is silly.

Anyways, guys please review if you want the next chapter soon *evil grin*
