Dancing the Modern Way

Severus Snape was bored. He normally didn't get bored. Being a teacher, especially one for a class as volatile as Potions, meant that you were on your feet, walking, watching, alert for anything to happen. But not today.

No, today there was two, count them, two students in his room. One Hufflepuff and one Ravenclaw. If it wasn't for the Ravenclaw he would've considered calling class. That, and it would ruin his reputation.

He had debated having them brew, but dismissed the idea. The mess would not be worth the end result. It would be worse than Harry could make.

The Ravenclaw was much further behind in Potions than the Hufflepuff. She was struggling with the subject. That had led to an idea that now had him sitting at his desk, bored to tears.

He let the Hufflepuff tutor the Ravenclaw. He would tell Filius and Pomona about it later so that they could reward both students; the Hufflepuff for not holding it over the Ravenclaw's head and the Ravenclaw for accepting the help.

Watching them work together, he smirked lightly. They were obviously dancing about the other, trying to figure out how they could sync their personalities, their styles.

Watching them reminded Severus of the dances that were done by couples all over the school, attempting to find their place in the relationship. It was harder these days for teens to find someone, ever since modern relationships became normal. You had to find your partner; they weren't just arranged for you.

He suppressed a smile. Modern relationships were wonderful though, even if they were challenging. If it wasn't for them, he wouldn't have Harry.

Oh, the dance they had done, both of them wary, uncertain, but positive of what they wanted…happiness and each other. 'Dancing is more interesting, now.'
