The night air was chilly enough on her bare skin, but the forced rush of it as they sped down the roads, now that was enough to make her teeth chatter. They had escaped at least, and the people who were attacking noticed, leaving the apartment. Tsubaki and Blackstar had probably woken up in terror during all that, the blue-haired man insisting on going out to fight, to protect his girlfriend and she refused to let him go. The scenario of the two buzzed through her head as her feet curled on the footrest, feeling a burn from the wind. Soul didn't seem to notice the cold in his clothes and she tucked in behind him, not long after slowing down. They were by where Death lived with Pattie and that other girl-Liz. The white-haired boy was quick to get off, kicking the stand harshly.

"Shit shit shit!" He hissed with another kick to the stand, looking up at her as she sat on the bike shivering, most of it was out of bitter cold, but some mixed in with fear. She wasn't made for thing kind of stuff, murder and bullets and her life being held on a string. A sigh and he pulled off his jacket to wrap it around the petite girl before reaching around her to get her off the bike, unsure for a moment he continued to keep her within his grasp.

"What?" Maka spoke out first, looking up at him from his chest, her fingers reaching to pull his coat around her more tightly.

"I was just thinking how cool I would look carrying you" He grumbled and with a pause before bending down to scoop her up into his grasp, a large grin plastered onto his face. The bookworm let out a sound of surprise, squirming around in his arms.

"Soull!" She shouted angrily as he laughed aloud, it was early enough in the morning that the streets were quiet, everyone needed some sleep. The white-haired man scampered up a pair of steps with the small woman in his arms, somehow managing to open an apartment door and threw her unceremoniously onto a couch to which she made a sound of annoyance. Yet once inside the young woman couldn't resist looking around the home. It wasn't small or even unkept like she expected, rather clean. Her eyes wandered across the doors, one led back downstairs, two remaining she suspected a bedroom and toilet. During her search it seemed the older man had disappeared and returned with a new gun and a set of vest, bullet proof she guessed. He set them down before returning back to his bedroom for supplies, and she reached out to take one of the vest, the weight enough to make her use two hands. Well made, it wasn't something he put together for his own use and as she turned it around she found the symbol of the police force. Her hand ran across it, pausing to look up at Soul as he returned with more gears and it appeared a change of clothes for her.

"So cats out of the bag huh?" He spoke, hands in his pockets.

"I thought you were some sort of…gang member or something" The woman responded, hands folding over the words stitched delicately into the armored fabric. Soul Eater Evans was not a criminal.

"Kinda looks like it huh, the big boss up top he wanted me and Kid to help with crime down here. Big shit going down you know, and well-I've been staking out a huge drug dealer, but seems like he caught up to me. Doesn't know about this place though, don't worry. We'll get out of here, head to your dad's, man he'd have my ass if you weren't ok" Soul attempted to explain, yet the sandy brunette became more and more withdraw till her legs were tucked in, face hidden.

"You know who my dad is then. You were just going to use me to get more power in the force. I'm just-so stupid. You're like all the other men, you lie and trick to get what you want" She spoke weakly and he seemed startled, reaching out for her shrunken figure.

"No, no, Maka I didn't know who the fuck you were the first time we met. You were just some tiny-tits who fucking saved my life," He spoke quickly, pausing to scratch the back of his head, "something I should have thanked you for doing long ago". When she didn't respond he continued, a bit of a desperate tone, "I found out who you were after that but it wasn't-important or anything you know. I just thought hanging out with you would be nice, make a guy look cool. I know your dad and that he isn't-the greatest guy and I don't ever want you to think I'm like him at all. I never wanted to lie to you, honestly I thought you wouldn't even get involved, I didn't even want your dad wanting to know about me seeing you, he'd go crazy, man. Super crazy, one guy mentioned you once and he was gone, desk and all, in an hour." After a moment young woman peeked out from her knees and he smiled a toothy grin.

"Did you really think it was not cool to eat ice-cream alone?"

"Dude, I wouldn't make that up" He answered firmly and with a smile she leaned back, letting out a small breath almost like she had held it in since the beginning of the night.

"My apartment is destroyed isn't it?" Maka sighed, the older man letting out a laugh before reaching to hand her a pair of clothes. The jeans were defiantly too big, but a belt could fix any problems and an oversized shirt was in style, she took the clothes gently, moving for the bathroom. A long night meant getting a good shower.

"Don't take too long or else I'll have to join you" The white-haired man called out, teasing her, though enough to make her blush and disappear quickly into the bathroom, laughter coming from the living room as she shut the door behind herself. First she started up the shower, giggling at the pink toothbrush Soul had in a cup, Mister cool huh? With a pause and a glance at the door she stripped down, folding her clothes and hoped into the shower, the heat soothing her frozen bones, after a few minutes she went to wash her hair, once finished turned off the shower and pulled on the jeans. While large they felt heavy and the petite woman considered that Soul had picked them for that reason, then continued by putting on the thin white t-shirt. It sagged at her shoulders and she turned around to look herself over, stopping to tighten the belt she was given to the last loop and headed out.

"So, Kid and his friends are part of this too?" Maka asked Soul as she exited the bathroom, reaching up to squeeze her damp hair with her towel. He glanced over at her and the young woman couldn't help but feel him looking her over, he was probably just-making fun of her in these clothes, still she looked away with discomfort, pulling at her shirt to keep it from sagging anymore. She didn't even see him lick his lips, eyes dilated.

"Uh-ya, you see, his dad sort of runs this place. This city, he's prime minister" He answered with a cough she looked over in surprise, Prime minister? Man, that's what Kid acted so different, he'd be raised in the lap of luxury, though she still wondered how the other two girls came to be with him. They didn't act like him, too at ease on the bad side of town.

"And his friends? Liz and Patti?"

"He picked them up along the way, they were part of some gang, really bad. Somehow he convinced them to join him and they've all been together ever since" the response was something that interest Maka though she allowed silence to follow before moving to plop down by the man, hand pushing back some hair from her face. Soul seemed rather dumbfound for what to do, and she felt him watching her as she sat there quietly, till she turned to look at him.

"Let's sleep for now, it's almost dawn right? Then we can head see Kid, get back to the police station and figure out what to do next. Oh I should probably call Tsubaki" The petite woman decided and with a nod he agreed, moving for phone, and she quickly called the home phone, one ring, two rings, by the third she was uncertain anyone would answer then the click.

"Maka, oh Maka is that you?"

"Tsubaki, yes, it's me, I'm fine" She attempted to sooth her friend but only heard sobs on the other line, perhaps she was adapting well to the situation, what Tsu had gone through-no one should. "I'm sorry that happened, look, I'm with Soul. He'll keep my safe and get me to a police station where my dad is. For now, stay with Black Star ok?" Maka spoke firmly, only hearing hiccups in return before the phone was handed over and she heard the annoying voice of the blue haired 'God' on the other line.

"She heard everything, as long as you're with Soul you should be good" He responded, she sighed, glad that he at least was able to assure her of the situation.

"Ma-Maka be careful" Tsubaki whimpered from the other line and she smiled, glad to hear her friend's voice, with a glad up at Soul she decided to finish the conversation. They would have to get moving soon and sleep was calling to her form.

"I'm hanging up, you two be safe, goodnight" And with that she ended the call, a sigh. She rubbed her face for a moment before looking to Soul, putting on a strong face and put down the phone.

"Hey, Tiny-tits you don't have to be all strong about this, it took me a long time to use to this too. Man, my first kill, I wasn't well for a week" The white man offered but she just shook her head, then it was time for bed. Maka assumed she would be on the couch but then Soul opened the door to a neatly made up bedroom, though a rather suspicious looking wardrobe was enough for Maka to assume it held all of his police force attire.

"I'm just a guest though-"

"It is not cool to have a girl sleep on the couch, and I only have one bedroom so it'll have to do" the comment enough to make her accept and she went into the small bedroom, glancing over at Soul as he stood at the entryway with a smug look before she crawled under the covers, pulling the covers up to her nose so only her eyes peaked out. He laughed and she turned away from him, curling up tightly, not noticing that Soul had come up till she heard the shift of the bed and turned to be face to face with him.

"What?" She squeaked

"I have to give you a goodnight kiss, man, don't get all excited" He grumbled though she swore even his face held color.

"Don't tease me"

"I wouldn't kid about goodnight kisses" Soul grinned at her before leaning forward to gently lay a kiss on her forehead, and she paused, looking up for a moment at his red eyes. It was only a few seconds later Soul broke into laughter and she kicked him, forcing him off the bed and curled up. At least she could rest peacefully here, knowing Soul was in the next room gave the frightened college student some comfort. Now to get some sleep and she closed her eyes to rest for the night.
