A/N Sorry for the long delay, but after the so-called reunion, my heart was not in it. I was not surprised by the break-up. However, the lazy back story made Harm look like a jerk.
Having said that, I owe you and myself a finish.
Thanks for reading.

Looking back perhaps they should have seen this coming. Yes, these men had devoted their lives to serving the country and both had lost fathers to that same sense of duty to service. one the carefree fighter pilot lawyer with the ready smile and fierce devotion to truth and those heled close to a well-guarded heart. The other while just as devoted to country, however, the sheltered childhood money and overprotective mother had given him limited his ability to see be on his self and closed walls of the CIA and the Washington social and political scene needed to advance. The other man not shaped by money or a protective mother. this man was shaped not only by the loss of a father, but a brotherhood defined not only by a code of conduct but a code of honor and for men like Harmon Rabb JR. the first rule of the code was to leave no one behind. Clayton Webb's code defined by his agency's view of the greater good. Despite the once odd friendship and the good done .it would be these different views of the world that lead to the hell they and those around them found themselves in
From the moment Clayton Webb met the Commander their friendship had been more contractual then one genuine affection, one had easy access to information to use for clients or find a missing father. The other a useful set skill for an ambitious spy on the rise. However, the ghost of a war long over would be its end, and the start of Clayton Webb's need for revenge.
The case of the USS Angel Shark had involved the sinking of a U.S. submarine by a Soviet sub in the late sixties. Given the political climate of both eras, neither government was willing to open that pack of dynamite. Insert one Harm Rabb and his ability to talk Webb into listening to his conscience. The agency sent Clay to South America for his sins while Harm remained JAG'S golden boy. He gave in to Harm's need to do for his fellow Navy brothers what could not be done for his beloved father bring them home had nearly destroyed Clay's career and ambitions of heading his father's former agency. That devotion to his father and the Navy would be used to make him pay.
The plan was brilliant even if he said so himself.
Sergei's infatuation with LT. Singer and Harm's overprotective streak played right into his hands. Singers willingness to bait him with Sergei's child bonus. The child, of course, belongs to Commander Theodore [Teddy] Lindsey who was more than willing ease the burden of child support and the hit to his career a nasty divorce would cause add in his long-held resentment of JAG'S Star for taking what Teddy thought was his spot and Clay had an all too willing accomplice.
Clay had not counted on agent Gibbs and his team clearing Harm so quickly. However, Harm's willingness to keep Mac out of his investigation of LT. Singer and the forced separation brought on by Harm's arrest had created a wedge between JAG'S best lawyers.
Agents are always to be flexible and if Harm was not going to prison, he would use him to restore his own career by cleaning-up agent Hardy's mess in Paraguay and give Krenshaw the legal and military weapon he wanted and take what Harm loved almost more than the Navy, Sarah Mackenzie.
The Admiral had always been protective of people so, Webb was pleasantly surprised by easily AJ excepted Mac's involvement.
The plan had worked better than even Webb could have ever thought. The mission, despite torture and failure to kill or capture Sadik, had stopped an attack U.S Naval forces.
Rabb separated from the two loves of his life. Yes, the plan worked in the short run. However, as he stood accused, the admonition of his mother came to mind. "Be careful what you ask for, you may get it."
