Tomorrow's Son

A new Tomorrow.

Jiraiya, and Sakura came into the Hokage's office. Hokage Naruto Uzumaki sat at the desk. A few minutes later Hinata arrived with hers and Naruto's teenage son Jiraiya.

Hi Uncle Jiraiya, and Aunt Sakura, said the younger Jiraiya.

The younger Jiraiya had always wondered why his Uncle always seemed to know what he was up too but had never gotten a clear answer as to why.

"Using a modification of the time travel jutsu Sakura and I," said Jiraiya, "have been studying the time line and have learned something interesting about how time travel works. This technique allows viewing of the past but not travel to it. It turns that any change you make in the past does not affect the future that is already after the change, the result is that every few plunk seconds there are variations in the time line. The main thrust of history does not change, for example in every one you become Hokage, marry Hinata but some the details vary. It turns out that free will is a major factor in these variations."

"What?" asked Naruto.

"If some one goes back in time and makes a change," answered Hinata, "It would not affect the present."

"I see," said Naruto, "so that explains how Sakura avoided becoming a psycho old maid."

This resulted in a look from Sakura, that if looks could kill would have made her an Hokage assassin.

"So it also means that there is no need to send our son back in time," added Hinata.

At this point Jiraiya's younger bother and sister Boruto and Himawari arrived waiting for their parents to to take them on a picnic.

Hi Uncle Jiraiya, and Aunt Sakura, said the two younger children.

"Mommy," asked Himawari, "When can we go on the picnic."

"Soon," replied Hinata, "Your father and I need to finish up with Uncle Jiraiya, and Aunt Sakura."

"It also explains," added Sakura, "why Sasuke is still alive."

"So," asked Hinata, "we don't have to send our son your old mission it that correct."

"You go it," answered the older Jiraiya, "The time line is in constant flux such that the various possibilities always exist within a nanosecond of each other."

"Well that concludes this meeting," replied Naruto,"I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm looking forward to that picnic lunch Hinata made."

"Well nice to know some things haven't changed,"commented Sakura, "You married Hinata for her cooking didn't you?"

"Well my stomach did fall in love with her before my heart did," replied Naruto with a smile.

Every one including the children laughed as they got up, out of the office and to picnic they had all been looking forward to, knowing that their efforts over the last 25 years have made for a better world.

The end.
