I stared at the thing crackling with electricity, literally humming with power as I held it in my hands. It was like the whole damn Ray Sphere all over again; just one small device that decides the fate of the world once it's activated. One small device that many fought for and many people died for, regardless if they were Conduits, Militia, or bystanders. One little thing that destroys more lives than any weapon or powers can.

I can see John from the corner of my eyes on his knees and struggling to regain his strength to do what was "right". Some righteous cause that was, to kill thousands to save the ones he can. I'd be lying though if I said I wasn't tempted to thinking he was right. I'd seen people falling on the streets, the life gone from their eyes as the body count increased day by day because of the plague. But then along came John, a man I thought was dead, ripped apart by the Ray Sphere in Empire City, but there he was alive, scarred, and powerful. I watched as he came closer to a dying woman, breathing every breath as though it'd be her last, and saw him give her her life back. It was at the cost of everyone else in the ward but I saw the results and when you compare a sure success to something that was risky and uncertain if it would work or not, the first option looks a lot more appealing as the solution.

Hell I'm still not sure if the RFI will cure the plague, but it's better to die trying to save millions than to stand by and watch them burn.

I summon all the power I can and concentrate it into the machine, infusing it with the electricity needed to activate it. It's ready in a matter of seconds.

I activate it and there are just two things running through my head: I'm glad I got to say good bye to Zeke and I wonder if I'll see Trish again. I feel pain, indescribable pain, and then everything went black.
