Disclaimer: This is a work of diction, I do not own any of the characters that appear in this fan fiction, BTVS, Superman and Marvel are still owned by their respective owners.

As you can all see I am not dead, so there is that.

A hearty thanks for the kind reviews and new followers to my works as well as those who continue to read and support my works despite my less than stellar timing and writing skills. Wish I could deliver sooner but real life is not about to let me have that, still, I really appreciate the continued support especially when all the negative feedback tries to get me down.

Not a big chapter but this is what my muse provided so hopefully the next one is larger.

Chapter 9: Commence the Operation part 2

New York City, Manhattan…

"Why didn't I just stay home with MJ and May?" He quietly asks himself as he avoids another laser blast from one of the Omega Sentinels that were at one-point Peter Gyrich's bodyguards.

And his day had started out so well after all he quietly laments to himself as he dodges more incoming fire.

Waking up with MJ by his side and in his arms.

Getting up to check on his firstborn and then holding little May in his arms and marvel at the sight of her as she looks at him and gives him a look of wonder.

Handing his daughter to his wife and watching her dote on the little one and once thanks to the man who made this reunion possible.

And then the day soured by the news that Bastion forces are pursuing the X-men and the attacks on mutants worldwide.

Then as he arrives at the Bugle and Robbie gives him the assignment to get pictures of Gyrich the news hits… the X-men were captured, and with terrible piece of news he feels his heart sink at the thought of his sometime allies being in the clutches of that monster known as Bastion leaving him feeling powerless as he had when told May was stillborn or when Ben died in his arms at the hands of Osborn.

So he focuses on what Robbie asks him to do all the while privately thinking if there was any way to help them and cursing that nothing came to mind. So, he dons his suit and pursues Gyrich until finally locating the man's limo and taking pictures from the safety of rooftops and away from the prying eyes of his bodyguards.

It wouldn't help as the street began to rumble and crack as if the earth itself had come to life, given the things he had seen in his heroic career that was a distinct possibility to consider.

However, what he sees is not some earth-based creature but rather two women looking to inflict some serious pain.

The one on the left wore silver armor and a black/blue jumpsuit, her wild mane of raven-colored hair and eye path on the right gave her a distinctive look plus given the way she was holding the collapsible staff in her hands showed she knew how to use it, this was Callipso the leader of the Morlocks.

The other woman had an even more distinctive appearance given that she had literal bones growing out of her skin that acted as makeshift armor and weapons, this redhaired woman was known as Marrow.

Both women had been looking to settle a score with Gyrich for his part in the current crisis mutants were facing at the hands of Bastion and his Sentinels. Though the man in question had been rescued from them by the Webslinger the situation took a turn for the worst when the men guarding the target of the Morlocks Ire transformed into a pair of hulking cyborgs with only one objective in mind…exterminate the mutants!

Hence, we come back to the present where both he and the women are now fighting to survive this battle, and even though not a mutant himself he stands in defense of the two despite Marrow's clear animosity towards him.

He blinds one of the machines with webbing while dodging under a laser from the other.

"Whoa! Watch where you fire that thing buster!" He shouts as he gets in close and delivers a spin quick that launches the former human into a nearby car while the other one was assaulted by Marrow and Callisto.

Marrow's bone daggers while strong enough to easily pierce flesh and bone fail to even scratch the cyborg armor and Callisto lacks the strength to make the former human budge.

"Why won't you die!?" Marrow screams as she hacks and slashes at her foe in growing fury.

"Your actions are futile." The cyborg emotionlessly spoke as he backhanded her away as if she was nothing. It was just pure luck that Peter caught her in his arms before her path would have her slam into a brick wall, something Callisto was thankful for as she did not want to see Marrow be hurt or god forbid die, she had enough of the latter from Sinister's Marauders.

However, fate was a fickle thing as evidence by the police finally arriving on the scene thus earning the attention of both Marrow and Spider-man which one of the Sentinels quickly took advantage of as his scanners finished calibrating his energy-based weaponry to ensure the kills of both of them.

*ZOOM!*

"NOOO!" Callisto did not give it a second thought as she launches herself to intercept the attack with her own body. The thought that it could very well lead to her death briefly crossed her mind but frankly, she didn't care because she would not suffer another of her people's death if she could prevent it.

*If I am to die in order to save her then so be it!* She thinks as her body instinctively braces itself for the impact and pain to come, however instead of the feeling of intense heat and burning flesh she was met with a pair of strong arms catching her midair and pulling her against a hard and toned body.

Opening her single she found herself staring into a pair of warm brown eyes that look at her with concern. Those same eyes came with a face that she would admit in private was rather handsome, almost as good as when she first saw Warren Worthington III and wanted him for a companion.

"Are you all right miss?" The man asks her kindly despite the situation they found themselves in.

"Yes." She replied still reeling from the realization that she was alive and well and still in the arms of her rescuer and still made no move to escape his embrace. The warm smile definitely did something to her though that was marred a stern look he directed at the Sentinels who blasted him again to no effect.

"Excuse me while I deal with these bozos." He grimly states before letting her go and blitz the Sentinel duo with two palm strikes to the chest that launch the two into a nearby car and wall respectively.

"Now how about we all calm down and find a peaceful solution?" He asks knowing full well their programming would not allow such an occurrence.

"The mission parameters have been compromised." The left Sentinel speaks as his mind tries to come up with a battle plan for this new hindrance.

"His DNA does not register as human, mutant or meta, cannot calibrate weaponry to counter." The other comments as his sensors can't make heads or tails of his alien physiology.

"The mission must be accomplished."

"Agreed." Both cyborgs activate their flight tech and charge the Kryptonian with glowing fists raised.

*You would think being part machine would make them see reason and the futility of continuing this pointless fight, then again it may be that they were mutant haters before they got involved with Bastion hence the stupidity factor is through the roof.* Xander idly thinks as he sidesteps the left one followed by grabbing its ankle while he casually backhands the other into a street lamp and then slams his captured opponent into the concrete.

Seeing the other begin to stand he kicks his compatriot into him send both sprawling to the ground before he burst into motion and is instantly on top of them. He grasps both of them by the neck rears them back and slam them into one another hard enough their armors buckle and crack.

Just for good measure he repeated the process two more times leaving the two cyborgs broken up but still very much alive. Unceremoniously he drops before looking to restrain them, it was just his luck that he spotted a construction site nearby that looked abandoned given all the ruckus going around.

One burst of super speed later and he had to mutant-hunting cyborgs bound in one-inch metal steel cable and was welding together with his heat vision.

"That should hold them until I can get them to HQ." He mutters before turning to face the two woman and hero.

"Good to see you again Spider-man though, to be honest, I wish it was under better circumstances." He says to the man while holding out his hand. Peter mirrors the gestures as he shakes the man's hand in thanks.

"I'm just glad you're here Superman." Peter definitely was as things were getting out of hand in the fight.

Xander nods before looking to the other two.

"Are you all right miss?" He says to Callisto as he checks to see if she is not hurt anywhere though he resists the urge to go full X-ray as he did not see the need for it.

"I am unharmed thanks to you." The woman replies while she looks to her compatriot and motions for her to speak, Marrow grumbles but does as told.

"I am well…" she says before getting another look from her mentor "… and thank you for your aid."

*I think that hurt her more than the actual fight. * Xander can't help but think with mirth before it is replaced with seriousness as he looks at Peter Gyrich and moves towards him with a stern look on his features.

To the man's credit and despite what he has heard of the man's powers and actions he stands his ground as he can tell the man is looking to get something from him.

"I have two questions for you Mr. Gyrich, where is Bastion and where are the X-men?" Xander makes no effort to hide his displeasure towards the man.

"Just who do you think you are to address me in such a way?"

"I'm the man trying to put an end to the global genocide taking place because of that monster you and other like you supported."

"Contrary to what you might think I nor the President have been 100% sold on him and his group. Yes, I believe mutants are a threat…"

"You miserable bastard!" Callisto and Peter both had to hold Marrow back while Xander glares at the man who continues despite the interruption.

"…but that does not mean I gave my full support for operation: zero tolerance."

"Given what I read up on you I find that hard to believe but be that as it may he needs to be stopped. Not only is he hunting innocent people regardless of whether they are a threat or not but he also transforming innocent bystanders into Prime Sentinels against their will to bolster his ranks."

"…I didn't know that." He neutral tone did nothing to hide his sudden increase in his heartbeat nor the bead of sweat that was on his brow.

"I can tell you are being honest but right now that is the least of my concerns since Bastion needs to be stopped so where is he?"

"I don't know the man has been very meticulous in his affairs and carefully compartmentalizes need to know the information." Gyrich responds truthfully much to Xander's chagrin.

"The US government basically gave a certified mutant hating maniac that much leeway?" Spider-man chimed in with disbelief at how the government dropped the ball.

"You mean the same government that has been infiltrated by Skrulls and the Red Skull in past you mean?" Xander comments dryly as he recalls reading about those events in the comics.

"…good point."

Gyrich ignores the jab despite wanting to lash out at them when he sees movement from his would-be assassins so he quickly pulls his service weapon out and aims at them.

"Freeze!"

"You dare threaten us, surface dweller!" Marrow spat as she readies her weapons while Callisto tensed but readied herself just in case.

*Oh I am not dealing with this shit while this clusterfuck if going on.* Xander thinks with annoyance as he takes the weapon and crumples into a ball with ease before handing the useless lump of metal to its incensed owner.

"Enough! There are bigger problems right now to deal with than this dispute. Now I get that you are pissed, you have a right to be but frankly, our focus shouldn't be on killing each other but how to stop a maniac from committing wanton genocide so I suggest we table this for another time." He sternly tells the bone wielding mutant who looked ready to throw caution to the wind and take a go at him.

It was only due to her mentors' hand on her shoulder she didn't.

"Sarah, he speaks the truth, our people need us." Callisto calmly says to her ward who looks at her with mix feelings of obedience and a desire to lash out.

"But Callisto he…!"

"Also, this man saved our lives, we owe him a debt and to lash out against him would be dishonorable."

*Not to mention he is far more powerful than we are. * She privately thinks as she eyes Superman with caution, they may live below the streets but that did not mean she was blind to what was going on and new of his exploits. No, it was better to exercise caution and not make an enemy of the man who was trying to put a stop to the Sentinels.

Marrow looked back at the heroes, Superman especially before she turned back towards the hole they came from. Gyrich looked ready to stop her by any means but got a look of warning from both heroes.

"We shall return to our home but I hope you are true to your words Superman and put an end to this horror. I have borne witness to enough massacres to my people and do not desire to see anymore." The one-eyed woman grimly comments.

"I promise you that this will stop, you have my word on that." Xander replies confidently as he holds out his hand to her.

"I will hold you to that." And with that said she follows Marrow back into the sewers.

"How could you let them go!? They were trying to kill me!?" Gyrich shouts at the caped clad hero who lets him vent with disinterest.

"I won't deny they acted rashly but you have to admit they weren't without justification given that they are being hunted like animals by Bastion's forces. Forces you gave your support to, and don't bother denying it because I saw that broadcast you made when the X-men were captured so do me a favor and stow it." He gave the man a heavy glare as he resisted the urge to have his eyes glow. Peter also glared but his features were hidden by his mask though his body language did convey the sentiment.

Gyrich sputters but in the end, says nothing as he can't deny he did indeed go onto the news to celebrate the capture of the mutant heroes.

"Now if we are done here, I need to deal with Bastion, so again I ask you where can I find him to put a stop to this?"

"I told you we don't know where he is operating from you clod."

"Now that is just rude man." Peter quips.

"I know right, manners are a dying art but much to my regret he is not lying about that." Xander says lightheartedly but inside he was cursing at the man's ignorance. He would have voiced his thoughts on the matter before he hears screams and weapons fire from the north.

"Looks like we will have to shelve this discussion for later."

"What? Why?" Spider-man asks as he can tell from the man's posture something just went down.

"Trouble as always." The caped clad hero comments as he begins to float.

"Need back up?" Peter asks suddenly, sure he knew how powerful Superman was given his past experience with the man but still he felt the need to ask.

"Never hurts to have some support, but I will have to carry you there if we want to make it on time." Xander replies in agreement as to one of his childhood heroes.

"Cool just no bridal carry, I do have a reputation to uphold after all." Peter quips earning a chuckle from the man as he puts his arm around his shoulder and Superman holds him securely.

"Can't have that, can we? Now think happy thoughts." Was the last thing he says before taking off to the source of the disturbance?

"Whatever you say tink!" Peter shouts as they accelerate.

Our Mother of Mercy Hospital…

It was pure utter chaos as a trio of recently activated Sentinels attacked one Cecilia Reyes, why? Because she was one of their quarries, she was a mutant with the ability to automatically create a force field around herself whenever struck by an outside force and given that she was currently being bombarded by lasers that powers were being put to the test.

"You only delay the inevitable, soon our weapons will calibrate themselves to counter your powers, make this easy for yourself and simply give up." The cyborg speaks with certainty in what the final outcome will be.

"I can't give up," The woman says in growing exhaustion as this was the longest she had her powers up.

"So be it mutant." As her would-be killers pour on the power to finish her off.

*Argh! I God it's started to hurt! I can't turn it off you bastards. *

However she was thankfully given a reprieve as columns of ice slam into the Sentinels.

"What the?"

"That would be my doing." She hears behind her, turning towards the source she herself staring at a man-made entirely of ice.

"Dr. Cecilia Reyes, I'm Iceman from the X-men and I am here to rescue you." Bobby says in a calm reassuring tone so as not to overwhelm the woman…so he can honestly say he was caught off guard when she slams a metal tray into his jaw.

"Rescue me!? Rescue me!? You've ruined me, idiot! Ruined my whole life!" She shouts in fury as she keeps hitting him.

*Ok what the hell did I just walked into!?* Iceman can't help but as himself, as the woman is ranting about promises not being kept and her life ending.

"Lady I just met you so I don't even know who or what you are shouting about!" He shouts back as he tries to fend her off.

"You're boss that's who! I told him I didn't want to join your stupid club and he promised to not tell anyone about me so I can stay out of all this insanity." She spat in anger and the perceived betrayal.

However, before she could continue to vent her anger out on the hero the Sentinels decided to take advantage of the situation as they began to fire their weapons at the two.

"Foolish girl! This insanity is of your own creation." One of the cyborgs says as he and his compatriots reign blast after blast on Cecilia.

"Gah! The pain…it's getting worse!"

"You can actually feel the blasts through your forcefields?" A rather amazed Iceman exclaims.

"Can't everyone?" She can't help but ask him despite the pain.

"How should I know? It's not like we all have the same powers."

"But you do belong to the same species, homo superior!" The sentinel in the center of the loose triangle formation shouts at his enemies.

"For decades your kind have slowly corrupted the gene pool." The one on the right speaks with no real emotion only determination to fulfill its mission.

"But it ends here and now!" The left one declares with finality as they pour more power to his attacks with the other mirroring his actions.

Of course, this all becomes mute as another voice breaks in the monologue.

"Jesus, they do so love to babble!" Both mutants turned towards the source but as they did three projectiles flew and struck the Sentinels eyes.

"Bullseye!"

"Nice one Spidey."

Bobby and Cecilia were surprised by the appearance of Spider-man and Superman, with the former holding out his hands from where he had launched his webs.

"Webs? Not that I'm complaining but what are you doing here?" Iceman can't help but ask as he and Cecilia move towards them, safety in numbers after all and also he had seen Superman take down some heavy hitters so it was a good idea to get behind a powerhouse.

"Apparently saving your bacon Frosty." Peter replies while keeping his eyes on the Sentinels.

"And not a moment too soon, are you all right miss?" Xander asks politely.

"I would be better if my life wasn't being driven down the shitter by all this crap." Cecilia bluntness surprises him briefly but he does not question it for he has no clue what she has had to deal with before they arrived.

His attention goes back to their opponents and decides to shelve any questions for later.

"Everyone duck!" He shouts when he blurs into motion just at the nick of time due to the Sentinels finally ripping the webbing off, however before they can renew their attack they are blitzed by Superman as he slams his fist into the stomach of middle one, followed by kicking another into a wall and finally backhanding the last one back into the ER from where it came.

"That bought us some breathing room but it won't last." Superman spoke as he faced the others.

"No kidding." Peter added while he kept himself ready, his spider-sense was still going strong though not quite at the same level as before. Still, that didn't stop him from holding out a hand to his old friend while Superman helps the doctor from the floor.

"Still getting into trouble huh frosty?" The web-slinger quips kindly to Bobby.

"Three words for you Spidey pot, kettle and black." His friends reply with a tired but humorous tone as he accepted his help.

"Now if only Angelica was here we could cap off this impromptu reunion."

"I rather not, especially while this purge is going…I hope she's safe wherever she is though." Bobby comments in regards to his elemental counterpart.

"Heard she was running with The Warriors so she wouldn't be alone and she always knew how to pick her fights." Peter replies to his friend although he understood where Bobby was coming from.

"As much as I hate to break up this reunion gentlemen, we really need to take the fight elsewhere because I hardly think a hospital is the best place to have a brawl don't you?" Xander intervenes as he sees the Sentinels getting ready for another go.

"The man's right popsicle, let's get this show on another venue." Peter comments while he moves towards the exit with the others following behind. Sadly, the Sentinels are hardly the accommodating types as they give chase to the small band.

*Persistent bastards, aren't they? * Xander can't help but think grimly as he shields Cecilia with his body from a stray blast.

"Thanks for that, these freaks have been getting better at hurting me the more they hit me with their lasers." The doctor thanks to the hero as they finally make their way out of the building, however…

"Targets acquired."

"DUCK!" Spider-Man screamed as his spider-sense went into overload. he quickly drops down in a crouch to avoid incoming fire. Bobby lacked his agility but his powers lent themselves to create a barrier of ice before him while Superman and Reyes tanked the shots.

"Son of a bitch! Why can't you leave me alone you monsters!" Cecilia screams in rage at her tormentors partly because once more she was feeling great pain despite her biofield absorbing their attacks.

"Negative, mutantkind is a blight upon this world, one that will soon be removed." One the original pursues responds when they finally caught up with their prey.

"Ok that is starting to seriously piss me off!" Bobby shouts amidst the lasers slowly breaking through his makeshift shield.

"You and me both friends." Xander comments before he fires his heat vision at his attackers and thus making scatter to avoid the twin beams.

*Just how many powers does this guy have? * Iceman idly wonders, though he won't deny he was also grateful for the assist as the man's presence was making things much better for the group though this batch of Sentinels was even more determined than the older models and frankly more dangerous.

"We need a plan here people!" Spider-man shouts over the din of battle as he webs up another cyborg and slams it into another. Iceman thought the same before he spotted something that sparked a semblance of a plan.

"Everyone get close to me now!" He shouts at the others before he begins to really power up.

The other don't question it while they move towards the cryokinetic while the Sentinels begin to converge on them in what they feel is the turning point of the fight.

"Now what!?" Cecilia comments while praying this day don't with her becoming a corpse.

"This." And just like that, the world around them disappeared in a sheet of white.

From the Sentinels perspective a near-perfect dome of ice and snow-covered the area where their prey had stood in what they originally believed to be the last stand though it was hardly that given the way Superman was manhandling them.

"Full power." One of the cyborgs commands and all fired at the dome with the clear intent of finishing off the mutants and their allies, however, they were in for a surprise once they managed to breach the icy shell.

There stood the Man of Steel and no one else.

"Oh wow! Will you look at that, they just upped and disappeared on me." If they were still fully human the Cyborgs would have growled at the mocking tone the man was using on them.

"Where are the mutants?" One of the Sentinels spoke while maintaining his weapons on the Kryptonian.

"You see that right there isn't the question you should be asking, now the question you should be asking is what happens next? And the answer would be me going medieval on you!" With that said the hero began his assault on the cyborgs who sadly did not have the wherewithal to know when they were outclassed.

Their lasers were not powerful enough to penetrate his skin, their sensors could not make sense of his genetic makeup and their programming overrode the human aspect telling them to cut their losses.

Xander just focused on them in order to buy the others time to get away and regroup, though personally, some part of him wished the cyborgs would just stop. He did not relish breaking their limbs or blasting their bodies with heat vision or freezing them in place.

They were once humans, maybe they asked to become these heartless monsters or maybe they were just innocents caught in the crossfire, their circumstances notwithstanding the fact remains they were once human and he was doing all he can not cringe at the damage he was inflicting on them.

Meanwhile below the streets two heroes and a reluctant/angry doctor were making their way through the underground tunnels with their enemies none the wiser.

"Hey Spidey, you think that guy can handle that many Sentinels?" Robert asks his friend.

"Frosty if you had seen him in action like I have you would be eating your words. Guy tanked the Six single-handedly without breaking a sweat." Peter replies with mirth at the memory, he still chuckles when he remembers Mysterio losing his lunch inside his own helmet.

"Last I hear he took on the Wrecker and his crew, for the most part, he did well before the Thunderbolts showed up." Cecilia added her two cents more out of the need to distract herself from the clusterfuck that now was her life, in her opinion at least.

"Trust me, Drake, he will be fine, now we should get going while the getting is good." Spider-man asked as he crawled on the ceiling.

*Better up here than down there at least, I mean I spend way too much time in sewers as it is, though I better make sure to wash up thoroughly before getting anywhere near little May. * He idly thinks to himself to distract himself from where he was and why.

Meanwhile with Xander he starting to go past annoyed to pissed due to the Sentinels unrelenting assault. He was currently in the air due to more Sentinels coming and thus increasing the chances of endangering innocent bystanders.

One Sentinel rushed him from the front while another tried to a frontal assault, needless to say, it didn't work as he dropped in the middle of then clapped his hands with a thunderous boom that send both cybernetic nightmares flying from the sheer magnitude of force.

His victory was cut short as a barrage of lasers struck him from behind by a trio of cyborgs looking to capitalize on his distraction. It would only serve to increase his already frayed temper as he rushes them with enough speed the loose track of him, they only realize the danger when one Sentinel is struck from behind with intense heat that propels to the ground.

The other two only manage to turn when their foe is already within their personal space and grabs each of them by the throat.

"Quid pro quo assholes!" He shouts as he slams them together with a loud bang and then proceeds to throw them at two approaching Sentinels coming in hot on his left only to be stopped cold as their brethren bodies struck them.

More Sentinels appeared making Xander inwardly curse Bastion.

"Just how many more did that bastard transform!?" He can't help but shout as he is once more under siege.

"Giles! Could use some breathing room here."

-I have rerouted some units to your location. —His robotic partner replies.

*Thank god for robotic duplicates. * He praises before getting back into the fray.

Meanwhile at a former Hulkbuster base…

Bastion was silently celebrating while he gazed at the still forms of the X-men his people had captured. Despite the nuisance, Superman and his machines were being the sight of his primary foes bound and, in his grasp, brought a smile to his face.

*As soon as I find a way to stop that crimson caped fool from interfering with the purge then I can truly enjoy our hard-earned victory. *

Any other thoughts were interrupted by the arrival of his "guest" for the evening.

"Why have you brought me here Bastions?" Charles Xavier, founder of the X-men and most powerful telepath, spoke with a clear disdain for the figure looking to eradicate his people.

"How did you know it was me, Professor? Intuition or perhaps your precious gifts are back in working order hmm?" The cyborg comments with mirth as he knows this is far from possible given the inhibitor collar around the man's neck.

"You know quite well my powers are held back by this collar you placed on me. If not for it you would know my power was back as I prevented you from hunting down my former students!"

"Yes, speaking of your precious alumnus…" The pleased tone with which Bastion spoke set Charle's on edge as the cyborg motions towards the large screen at his back. The moment he sees what is being projected on it he feels his heart stop.

There before him was the shackled and unconscious forms of Ororo, Scott, Logan, Sam and Jean.

"What have you done to them Bastion!?" Charles demands in equal parts worry and anger.

"What all who came before me failed to achieve, capture and caged the X-men like the abominations they are." Bastion says proudly, seeing the look of helplessness on the man who created the team gave him a sense of accomplishment…which was soon shattered as one of his men suddenly came in looking like the devil himself was after him.

"Sir! You need to see this." The man spoke as he manipulated the screen to show a news broadcast being shown.

-If you are just tuning in we have live coverage on the scene of a battle taking place in the skies of New York as the man dubbed by the media as Superman is currently engaged in a fight with members of the ZT task force. —

"Him again!?" Bastion spat in growing fury while he watches his forces being manhandled and, in some cases, dismembered by the hero.

-Why he is doing this are still unknown at the time but our sources indicate that he also took action against them in Los Angeles alongside known Avengers Hercules and Black Widow and was later seen in the downtown area alongside the vigilante Spider-man and two unknown women. —

-The actions of these heroes who are openly opposing the attack has many questioning the nature of the organization that rose in the wake of the Onslaught incident and death of the members of the Avengers and Fantastic Four, could there be more we are not being told behind the scenes?—the news anchor openly asks as more footage s shown of Xander laying waste to the Sentinels.

"It seems your victory celebration is still a long way off Bastion." Charles says with smugness and perhaps hope that his people can be saved by the caped clad hero.

Bastion gave the wheelchair-bound man a scathing look before he backs hand him hard enough to snap his head to the side. Despite this or the cut on his lip the telepath still gives the leader of Zero tolerance a mocking and defiant look.

"You think one man can save your species, Xavier?"

"Your attention to detail must be slipping Bastion, Two Avengers and Spider-man were also taken part in the battles. More than likely others around the globe have risen up to face this madness, you must realize that there would those who oppose your crusade." Charles rebuttals to the mad cyborg.

"They will not succeed Xavier, mine is the way to humanities survival, the mutant threat will be eradicated. Take him back to his cell, I tire of his delusions." Bastion orders as he moves out of the room and towards the command center.

"You will not win Bastion! Men like you never do!" He heard Charles shout as he was taken away.

"Spare me the fury of the righteous Xavier, though I will make sure to tell your precious X-men that you are still rooting for them." That was the last thing Bastion tells them as he departs to pick another "guest" of his.

Back With Xander…

"Did that cybernetic asshole turn all of New York into a mutant killing machine!?" Spat as he dealt with another cyborg, as he did so he received a notification from Giles.

"Tell me some good news Giles."

-Our efforts seem to be having the right effect Xander, Bastions forces are stall as they fight the drones, we have made headway so far as capturing some alive. —His robotic companion reports, though he chooses not to question about the "some" comment.

"Any luck finding the tin-plated bastard?" The hero asks as he delivers a right hook another Sentinel.

-I am close but we have another situation developing on the West Coast, specifically the students of Emma Frost and Sean Cassidy. —

"Shit, can you reroute some drones to their location?"

-Negative, our forces while making progress is still too few to spare and none close enough to intervene. —Giles regretfully replies.

"Right then, hate to leave things as they are here but hopefully, I made enough of a dent here to stall things for a while."

-I shall redouble our efforts to contain the Sentinels as well as locate Bastion's headquarters, Xander. —

"Roger that Giles, in the meantime I got some teens to save." Xander's reply was full of determination before he broke away from the fight and flies upward to higher heights before blasting off with a thunderous sonic boom signaling his departure as he heads west.

To be continued…

A/N: So, I debated on whether or not to include the Gen X issues but I figured it wouldn't be fair if I only have Xander focus on Jubilee so I am having him make a quick detour back in LA to save her friends, though I will ignore the whole side venture of Emma, Sean, and Penance that is happening concurrently.

Also, to those who are familiar with the event, which given its age I don't think there are many, you'll notice that during the section pertaining to Spider-man I took out the part where Jonah is paid a visit by Bastion. Didn't feel right and I also felt like it was happening during two different time frames, Spidey by day and Jonah by night.

Also wanted to have him and Xander interact more as well as have Peter be more involved in the rescue of Cecilia due to him, at least to my understanding, being Iceman's friend, which I believe has been referenced that he and Angelica are his friends.

So hopefully you will like this chapter and if not, I tried and as always if you don't like my work you don't have to read it. And if you hate my work but still read beyond the first chapter then you are clearly looking for attention for reasons that only make sense to you and you alone…which means you have my pity, you sad miserable little person.

Finally I have written a new story featuring two of my favorite X-men which currently has 4 chapters done and is being given a couple of proof checks and have begun work on one of my Halo stories that so many are asking me to update, so as you can see I am keeping my promise to you that I was going to do so, just don't know when it will be ready.

PEACE OUT!
