A/N: Yes I know it has been months since I last updated but life has a way of being really busy. I am now in my senior year of high school so I have a lot of work, grad stuff to take care of, and I'm in the school musical. I'm also working on some original stuff and I'm even submitting some writing for our school's literary magazine which is a published book of student writing. I promise to try and update when I can but I'm sorry if it isn't that often. For now though enjoy chapter 14!
Chapter 14
Austin's POV
As I walked along the deck this afternoon with Dez and Ally I could see some chunks of ice in the water. It had been a few days and we were starting to get closer to Alaska now. You could feel it in the weather too. Just a few day ago we were soaking up the sun by the pool which is now deserted. Bathing suits have been traded in for jackets and long pants. As we walked I noticed Ally shiver and threw my arm over her shoulders. She leaned closer to me for warmth.
"So, what should we do tonight?" Dez asked as we walked.
"Well we still haven't checked out that teen club," I suggested.
"It's inside out of this cold, so I'm okay with it," Ally agreed.
"Do you guys want to go check it out right now?" I suggested. I could tell we were all getting cold and a bit bored.
"Sure," they both agreed.
We headed in to the elevators and pressed the button for deck 5 where the club is. When we got there we walked through the crowded deck to the teen club.
"So I guess this is where everyone comes when it's not nice out," Ally said as we weaves around another large group.
When we got to the teen club we saw the schedule of themes for each night. Tonight was karaoke and open mic. Next to it was a sign up sheet.
"Hey Austin, you should sign up, you said that you love performing," Ally suggested.
"What would I sing?" I asked.
"You could sing one of the songs I wrote," Ally suggested.
"And I could record your performance and make a video to put online," Dez added.
"This could be the start to your career," Ally added excitedly.
"Well I think we need to get to work," I said as I filled in the sheet. I chose one of the later performances and marked that I'd be doing an original song.
After that we all headed back up to Ally's room.
"Wow, you're room is huge!" Dez yelled as he ran around the room. Ally tilted her head to the side and gave him that strange look. Despite spending so much time with him I could see that Ally still wasn't used to his weird behaviour. I just shook my head at him.
"So anyways," Ally said walking over to grab a brown leather book from next to her bed. She gestured for me to come sit down next to her. I did as she flipped the book open to a page.
"Here," she said showing me the page. "What do you think of this one?" I reached over to take the book from her but she quickly held it out of my reach.
"DON'T TOUCH MY BOOK!" she shouted at me.
"I'm sorry, I was just going to look at the song like you told me too!" I said throwing my hands up in front of me in surrender.
"Sorry, I just don't like it when people touch my book," she said. "It's kind of my private journal as well as my song book."
"I promise I will just look at the song, and you'll be watching me the entire time," I said reaching my hand out to her.
"Okay," she said tentatively handing me the book. "You're lucky I trust you." I smiled as I took the book from her and read over the song.
"Wow Ally! This is awesome! How does it go?"
"Austin you know I have stage fright," Ally started to protest.
"Well I don't see a stage, plus it's just me and Dez, who isn't even paying attention," I said looking over to where Dez was staring out through the balcony doors.
"Okay fine, but you better not laugh."
"What happened to trusting me?" I asked. She just laughed and quietly sang me the song.
"Let's speed it up a bit," I said and so we got to work.
After I rehearsed the song a few times we headed off to see if we could find some instruments to record a backing track for me to sing to. We ended up going to the piano bar which was empty until tonight and using the piano in there.
Ally and I worked out the melody and then Dez recorded it on his laptop. Next we went in search of a guitar. We ended up coming across a man playing one in a hallway on our deck. He gladly let us use his guitar. He came with us back to our room where I messed around with the tune. Once we were satisfied with how it sounded Dez recorded me playing it on his laptop. He overlapped it with the piano track that Ally and I had already recorded. It was coming along perfectly.
"Could I hear the song?" asked the man who's guitar we were borrowing.
"Sure," I agreed. I thought we might as well try it out with our backing track. "Hit it Dez," I said. He pressed play. I kicked off my shoes and jumped up on the bed as I performed.
I full out rehearsed the song like I planned on doing it tonight. Right as I was finishing I heard the door open.
"Austin, what did I tell you about standing on our bed! And what are you doing? Who is this?" asked my mom pointing at the man who's guitar we were borrowing.
"I'm Clyde," replied the man.
"We were just borrowing his guitar to record the backtrack for our song," I explained.
"Your song?" asked my dad with a confused expression on his face.
"Yes, we've been working on it all day. I'm going to perform it at the teen club for their open mic night tonight!" I said excitedly.
"Okay, but could you not rehearse on our bed in the future?" my mom asked while putting her bag down on the counter.
"Yes, sorry mom," I replied.
"Well you better all get ready to dinner if you don't want to be late," she replied.
"Well I'd better get going," Clyde said picking up his guitar. "Great performance, I'm sure you're going to be great tonight. I'll make sure to look you up sometime."
We all thanked him. "I'd better go too," Ally added, "I'll walk you out," she said and they waved and left.
"Tonight is going to be great!" I said after the door closed before I went to get changed for dinner.
Ally's POV
I closed the door to Austin's cabin behind Clyde and I.
"Thank you so much again for letting us use your guitar," I said to Clyde as we walked down the hall towards his cabin.
"It was really no problem, it was a lot of fun, you guys are all so talented," he replied.
"Thanks, you should look up the video when we get back, Dez is going to post it online. I'm going to tell him to thank you in the credits."
"I definitely will, just remember me when you're all famous," he said as we got to his cabin.
"Will do," I said. We waved goodbye and I headed to the elevator. I think we just got our first fan.
A/N: Until next time! Hopefully I won't take as long this time! -Romeo
P.s. Romeo is my nickname so I'm also going to make it my signature name from now on if you are wondering.
