Short Story - Passing the Time

I did not understand this at all.

"You just... I don't know, do it. I don't know how else to explain."

I examine the contraption. It seems simple, but I absolutely cannot figure it out.

"First, put the string on your middle finger, dummy."

He starts fumbling with my hand and my face is getting hot.

"There, like that. And then, make sure the string is wrapped all the way up. Then let the yo-yo go."

I let the yo-yo go. It sits there, suspended.

"Agh, once the strings almost up you have to flick it back up. Like this."

He takes the yo-yo from me and immediately starts playing with it.

"And then, once you get really good, you can do tricks and stuff."

He demonstrates that. I give him an annoyed look.

I try it again for the next few hours, until we are both extremely tired.

"I don't know Shizuka, I think you just naturally suck."

I punch his arm.

"That didn't hurt. Let me show you again."

He reaches to take the yo-yo, and his face gets

extremely

close

to my face.

There is eye contact. He quickly jumps back.

"Your ears are pink," I quietly say, removing the string from my finger and winding it back up.

"Sh-Shut up..." he mumbles.

"Killua! Shizuka!"

We look up, and see Gon waving. We look at each other, and he smiles.

"Let's go."

Aghhhhhhh! I sincerely apologize for no updates since September (seriously, Kotori!?). We can just say my life has gotten pretty difficult in the last few months.

Happy 2014! I'm a little late (yeah, five months late!)!

I'm planning to update W&W soon (I'm going to have to rewatch a few episodes to remember what happens, heheheh), and Ounce of Mercy as well.

I reread some reviews and remembered how insanely happy they made me. I almost cried, haha. I miss you guys. I'll try to update!

As always, thank you so much for reading, reviewing, favoriting and following! It moves me to tears!
