[A/N: After having run into a massive writer's block I brought the final chapter of the story. This was supposed to two chapters long, but after a while I decided this worked best. All in all is everything I hoped for the story, and I hope you had enjoy it too.]

Marceline was in the kitchen of the Candy Castle, setting up a pair of coffee cups. The teapot whistled in the background alerting her water was boiling, she took a pair of teabags and put them in the cups and slowly poured the hot liquid. "Hope you like hibiscus tea. It's the dickens to find, but I felt like sharing. " Marceline handed the second cup and then took the seat opposite from it.

She calmly floated about before sitting; she sees the cup uneasy before taking a sip. After a small time of awkward silence Marceline finally spoke. "You know, I'm glad you are here. I'm sure he would be glad to if he truly understood what you are going to do to help him. I mean I don't see how this whole plan would work without you." she paused for a moment took another sip and looked straight, various clips of the Ice King kidnapping princesses and causing assorted mayhem had been playing on a holographic screen on the table, she took yet another sip and in the same comfortable tone of voice she spoke again. "I know he has done some stuff in the past that's been pretty whack and so uncool I admit it. All those times that he has been trying to steal you away… but you know he hasn't always been that way. Will you he-"

Suddenly Princess Bubblegum barge into the kitchen bearing cookies. "So how's our little kidnapee? Still all calm and soothe… erh... excuse I didn't catch your name."

"Betty, and I'm still perfectly terrified, thanks for asking." responded in an almost monotone voice the redheaded human woman with spectacles, and then she took a sip of tea. "Are those chocolate?"

"Hmm… Quite curious." said PB holding a blue gun with a marshmallow on the tip, while the redhead took a cookie. "A shame Finn hasn't been around to test my Mellow-Gun."

"Oh dear, I'm a guinea pig, charming." said Betty without any inflection before taking a bite from the cookie.

"Bonnie..." said Marceline making a gesture to talk in private with the princess. "How am I supposed to convince her if you keep treating her like a lab experiment?"

"Hey! You were the one that barged into my lab after you dragged her crying and yelling from that time portal, which by the way you haven't told me yet where did you get, and asked for my help."

"You didn't need to zap her with that!" she paused and looked back to Betty still eating a cookie. "She is giving me the creeps, and I'm a vampire."

"Oh, grow up. She is fine. I just blocked all the emotional responses from her brain so her purely analytical part has completely control."

"Hello, could we carry on with the complete set of events that brought mostly pedestrian life into the train wreck of confusion, misery and despair that had plague my soul for the last… five hours? Is it noon here too?" said again Betty in a complete calm tone.

Marceline looked at Bonnie. "I said I'll calm her down, not that she would FEEL calm." replied Bonnibel. "Let me handle it."

"Greetings, I'm Princess Bubblegum of the Candy Kingdom." said PB to Betty. "I'm sure you have a lot of questions…"

"Did you know that 'bubblegum' was a flavor chewy paste that people use to spit after it had gone dull?" asked Betty with a straight face.

Bubblegum was stunned by the question and Marceline simply couldn't contain the laughter. "Hahahahaha! You know hehe… I had been dying to say that for ages! Hahahe… I'm starting to like her."

"I didn't mean to be funny. I genuinely ponder if the taxonomical root of the word has been loss or changed over the years. Also I have to guess by seeing the upholstery that the Candy Kingdom is no moniker but a literal description of the architecture of, what I could appreciate in my very agitated travel here, quite a large urbanization and the actual structural integrity of it as a whole. Pastry not being the most structural sound of materials all things considered. Where do you even get the quantity of sugar for such a place? And really, you expect me to believe that this is the future but you all reverted to such an outdate form of government such as monarchy? And should I ask about the vampire and the time travel portal? More over cryogenesis and cryokinesis…" it was obvious that Betty could continue to rant for a while, Marceline had been giving her the 101 on Ooo for the last hour, but Bubblegum had all the criticism she could take for a day.

"Enough. First, Yes I did it was intentional. No, it hasn't been loss. Very stable if you know what you are doing and I am. The sap from the giant tree in the middle of the kingdom. Yes we do. And for everything else Magic is Real!" after she added almost whispering. "Well not exactly real is just the quantum manipulation of space and time and the different stages of vibrations… but that's beside the point right now." then she continued in her altered voice. "Look would you help with her plan or do we sent you back?"

"Bonnie!"

"Oh, that. I won't." said Betty hastily, without a second thought.

"WHAT?!" yelled Marceline turning monstrous "You realize why are we doing this? It's all for Simon don't you care for him?"

"I remember him yelling me to 'go away' and being called various awful names."

"That wasn't him! That was-"

"The crown, I know. Perhaps I always suspected it, but you were kind enough to confirm it. Still I won't help."

"How can you say that?! Even after a thousand years he hasn't forgotten you, he still look for you… he's still hurt…"

"The portal." stated calmly Betty. "You said once it closes I would be back from whenever you took me."

"We could…" interjected Bubblegum.

"Try to keep it open or keep me from going away?" interrupted Betty. "To what point? If you succeed in both, Simon and I are trapped in a land that's simply to strange for us, at worst succumbing to it or at best being caged for our own protection. If you fail in any, either of us would remain here having forever lost the other, that's not life for Simon. Or worse of all, you will just open the wound on poor Simon, and making him suffer for nothing."

"But…"

"Is it Marceline right? Listen we lost each other long ago. And now is simply too late. It's best just to let go." said Betty finishing her cookie.

Marceline was about to reply when the holographic screen flashed red with the words: SIMULATION FINISHED.

"Well look at that." stated Bubblegum.

"Marceline what the hey!" shouted Finn in astonishment.

"Relax he is not dead." said Marceline as the three just stood there looking at the still immobile Ice King. "I think." They stood looking at the body for a long time it didn't move until finally… a twitch. "See, he is fine."

"If you wanted him out cold we would had let the princesses do it and saves the trouble." said Jake.

"You'll see." said Marceline.

Slowly the Ice King came to his senses, he groaned a bit and then he got up, still dizzy. But he looked different, his hair seemed shorter, his skin less blue, and the jewels on his crown lost their red glow.

"Aghh… did you see the truck that ran me over? Eh… Marcy..." said the Ice King slowly coming about. "Marceline is… is that you?"

"Hehe… you sock it pretty hard. What did you do?" asked Finn.

"Just a heated salt crystal, courtesy of the Fire King. That should thaw Simon for a while." replied Marceline.

"Thaw? Am I…" Simon stopped when he felt the crown on his head and rapidly swatted it away.

Observing from afar was a shadowy figure, it had been waiting for this moment, without hesitation it threw itself at the crown. "Wenk!"

"Marcy… I just…"

"Don't say anything Simon, I know. Beside I want you to see this."

She said tossing a holographic reproductor at Simon. In the background Gunther had put the crown and had begun to float.

The video began to play, the image of Betty appeared.

"Dear Simon,

I know we didn't part away like we should have. How long has it been since then for you? I never dreamt of being the cause of your pain. It was just a silly game…

'MARCELINE HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO KEEP THIS OPEN! I DON'T FEEL MY ARMS!'

'KEILA SHUT UP! THIS IS A TOUCHING MOMENT! Please go on… I'll edit later.'

tee-he. Yes dear, that's Marceline you don't imagine what she has done for us. And yes I was there not so long ago. But Simon, listen to me, I'm not staying. And not just because a certain vampire has tired.

'HEY!'

But because, it's time to let go of the past. Simon, this is my chance to say Farewells as I should had had I know… had I know… it doesn't matter. Truth be told you never lost me, you didn't need to look for me, you didn't need to wait for me. Because… you already had me long, we never got to it, but it was the intention alone. I was scared I never wanted to because you pain. So that's why, I'll return to before… all that happened happened and I'll never see you again. Because if I do, you'll want me to stay and I'll want it too and you don't deserve to see that, let this be our final farewell, and you Simon would stop looking for me, because you don't need to Simon I had always loved you and always will.

Forever yours,

Bethany Petrikov."

The movie ended there. The Ice King was silent. Gunther had been attacking Finn and Jake with ice tendrils the whole time, and had them already surrounded ready for the final blow when a blue hand took the crown away from the unsuspecting penguin.

"Wenk?" he flat faced on the snow.

"Simon?"

Simon was sobbing when he put the crown back on, his hair grew, and his skin grew blue once more. But his sobbing turn into laughter of joy. With tears on his eyes he shoots snow into the air yelling with all his voice. "I got a girlfriend! The Ice King has a girlfriend! Guys did you heard I have a girlfriend a real one, not one made of trash. And she is the most beautiful princess and…" she continued rambling to the still frozen Finn and Jake, as Marceline approached the laying penguin and lifted it with one hand.

"By the way Gunther, don't think I didn't catch on that Simon would die if the crown was completely severed away from him. I'll be watching you." told the Vampire Queen with a most serious tone.

Gunther only uttered a nervous "Wenk."

"Come on Gunther, it has been an exciting day, it's late and daddy wants a foot rubbing." said the Ice King grabbing Gunther and flying home with him.
