There was a challenge set a while ago by Arty Diane, and the challenge was:

Inspired by a scene in SiP, where John is fretting about texting a murderer. Write a story where a murderer or a former suspect calls John back. (Maybe to get a date with him? ;) )Humour is a plus!

That same challenger has a birthday today, so in honour of your birthday Arty Di, please accept this 221B birthday gift that (I hope) meets your challenge

"Sorry, what are we doing? Did I just text a murderer?" John stared, horrified at the mobile sitting on the arm of his chair.

Sherlock grinned.

"Indeed you did, John." there was something positively wicked about the glint in the young detectives silver grey eyes.

"But what if he rings me back?"

"Oh, I'm hoping he will." The grin grew wider. "And if he does, I want you to ask him out for a date."

"A what? Sherlock, this man has murdered four people, and you want me to ask him for a…" he was interrupted by his mobile. The caller's number was withheld.

Sherlock handed him a piece of paper.

"Tell him this is your name." he whispered, urging John to answer the call.

"Hello?" John spoke tentatively.

"You sent me a text" said the voice on the phone.

"Uh, yeah, I, er, I'm impressed with what you've achieved and I'd like to invite you to dinner."

"A date? Why?"

"Well," John tried to sound convincing "I'm a great fan of yours."

"And who are you?"

John said the name Sherlock had written down, and after a few more questions they agreed to meet at seven.

Sherlock picked up his phone and sent a text.

'Meet me, 22 Northumberland Street – SH'

John frowned

"Who is Mycroft?"

"Oh, he's my brother!"
