Epilogue
Quinn's POV
I stood in my room packing my bag to go to Connecticut. The summer went by way faster than I would have liked and it all just seemed like a dream now. I couldn't believe I wasted my entire summer trying to fix things with Puck only to have it all come crashing down that one weekend at the pool. I caught him making out with a lifeguard in the pool house. Sure the girl was probably just a future hook up that meant nothing to him but to me it was more than that. In my head she did mean something even if it wasn't to him. That stupid life guard ruined any chance Puck and I had of making it this year. Plus she was gorgeous and thin with big blue eyes and long brunette hair. I wasn't expecting him to move on so quickly. I guess he really was always full of surprises.
I broke up with him later that same day. He had it coming. But there was something strange about our relationship that always threw us back together one way or another. Even if I was dating another guy and he was with another girl, somehow we always ended up in bed together. I didn't even feel bad that after he started dating that evil bitch he made out with at the pool I still managed to seduce him and he still managed to force his way back into my heart. Plus she was a junior and she still had her entire senior year before graduation which meant he had to wait for her. He told me he cared about her, Maya, I think her name was. Then the day after he told Maya he loved her, August 17th, he was at my house and in my bed. In a way I felt bad for her for falling for a Puckerman. Then I erased that thought and realized she probably thought that same thing when I saw her kissing him.
Every day I ran passed the neighborhood park while on my morning exercise and I saw Finn and Rachel playing with their baby girl on the swings and the slides. Sophia always seemed to wave and Rachel nodded but when Finn started to walk over and talk to me, there was always Sophia or Rachel distracting him and pulling his attention back to them. I guess it made sense. Rachel just wanted to keep him as long as she could have him.
I was almost done packing when Puck knocked on my bedroom door. "Hey," he smiled slightly and walked in. "I have to meet Maya in an hour at the mall but I have until then if you want to do something?"
"I'm busy right now," I shrugged. "I'm packing. I have to be at the airport in two hours and I still haven't finished packing. Plus I'm flying with Finn, Kurt, Mike, Santana, and Rachel so we were gonna meet up for lunch in a half hour so. But I'll see you for Thanksgiving if you want to do something then."
"So that's it?" He frowned. "You're just gonna leave?"
"I was always just gonna leave, Puckerman."
"When are you gonna accept the fact that you love me and I love you and we should just be together?" He sighed.
"Never because that's not true," I shook my head. "You should have thought about that before you hooked up with a slutty high school girl in a country club pool house." I looked down and zipped my suitcase shut. "There's no happy ending for us, Puck. We're never going to be happy together so we might as well just give up now before it's too late. I'm not gonna be your mistress or whatever. I just want to go to college and be single for a while."
He stayed silent for a few moments before nodding and turning around. "If you need someone to talk to, just remember to call me." And he walked down the stairs and outside.
Rachel's POV
We laid on the couch, his arms wrapped around me as we watched Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory on ABC Family, not really paying attention to the movie. My eyes were closed and I could tell he was getting tired, too. Every time I moved he would adjust himself so he was still holding me. The movie continued and I yawned a few times while we just lied there silently. Finally, I opened my eyes and looked up at him. "I wish it could stay like this forever," I sighed, glancing at my pink suitcase that sat in the doorway and his big blue one next to it.
"It will," he assured me, his voice soft. "Let's not talk about it again. We have today still."
"Yeah I know," I nodded. "I just want it to work out, you know? We've been together every day this summer and I don't want it to end."
"It won't, Rach. We're gonna be fine," he whispered, kissing my cheek. "I'll see you all the time on the weekends and you can come to my games and I'll come to your shows. I'll even come to New York just to hang out sometimes."
"What if…"
"Don't ask the 'what if' questions. You don't know what's gonna happen," he shrugged. "We'll just have to wait and see."
"Yeah I guess," I sighed and snuggled up closer to him. "I'm just scared."
"We're gonna be fine, Rach. I'm almost positive," he kissed my cheek and then laid his head back.
"Finn…" I started but couldn't find the right words. "Okay."
"I love you," he mumbled, smiling.
I grinned back weakly and nodded. "I love you, too, Finn."
Santana's POV
I waited outside of Quinn's house to pick her up for lunch. We had been getting along really well recently and I could tell she was getting a lot more optimistic and excited about college even though she was still upset from her breakup with Puck. We had been avoiding talking about that brief drinking problem she had the week of graduation because I was scared she might remember what happened on prom night after we got back to my house.
Quinn was still crying by the time we got back to my place. I took her inside and gave her a glass of water. "I don't want water, Santana. I just want to forget this whole night ever happened." Quinn insisted, setting the water back down. I gave her a small glass of vodka and told her not to drink too much. "Wanna play a game, Tana?" At this point we had almost drunk an entire bottle.
"What game?" I asked. "There are only two of us."
"How about…" she paused to think about it. "Body shots!"
"Are you sure?" I chuckled, thinking about doing body shots with her.
"Yeah, come on!" She grabbed my hand and pulled me into the kitchen where she laid on the counter and we did a few body shots. It was fun but she was so drunk that I had to be really cautious about making sure she didn't do something stupid. "You know…I've always wondered what it would be like to kiss a girl."
"Oh really?" I smirked because she was being really cute. I had never seen her so drunk before. "And why is that?"
"Because…" she started, smirking back at me. "My best friend is a lesbian and she's really hot so I always wanted to kiss her for the fun of it."
"So why didn't you ever kiss her?" I asked, suddenly thinking that exact same thing. If Quinn had always wondered that then how come she had never kissed me?
"Because I was scared of what she would think," she replied and then took another big sip out of the bottle. I knew she was drunk and not thinking straight but the truth always comes out when you're drunk, right? And I would never admit it to Quinn that I thought she was super hot too but right now was the perfect opportunity to just find out what it would be like to be with Quinn. I shrugged and decided to take my chance. She was sitting on the counter so I stepped closer to her and set my hand on her thigh, smiling.
"So what do you want to do then, Q?" I smirked. She shrugged and put her hand on my shoulder to balance herself. I didn't say anything before leaning in and kissing her. I was shocked at how sweet her lips felt against mine. She didn't even pull away and she actually kissed back, deepening it a little. I grinned and pulled her off of the counter. We both were grinning as we made our way to my bedroom and collapsed onto the bed.
It wasn't even like she knew what we were doing but it felt like she did and I loved every second of it. But the next morning she woke up and acted like the whole thing never happened.
"Hey Tana, sorry it took me so long," Quinn said as she finally ran out to the car and sat down in the passenger seat.
"No problem," I nodded. "Hey, do you remember what happened at my house after prom?"
She didn't reply at first, just sat there uncomfortably. After a minute or so she finally nodded. "Yeah I remember."
"Why didn't we ever talk about it the next day?" I asked.
"Because I was scared. I was in love with Puck but I thought I needed to break up with him so I just kind of panicked. I didn't want anyone else to know, either," she sighed. "I'm not like you. It was fun and I'm glad it happened but it's more of a one-time thing for me and I don't think I'll ever do it again."
"It's okay, Q. I'm not trying to talk you into anything you don't want. I know you were just trying to make up your mind about Puckerman," I nodded. "I'm just glad you're happy now."
"You know what? I really am," Quinn smiled. "I'm really excited about this year."
Finn's POV
Rachel and I were the first people to leave the sub shop where we ate lunch. Rachel, Kurt, and Santana didn't want to miss their flight so I drove Rachel to the airport an hour early. "So I guess this is goodbye," I sighed.
"Don't talk like that," Rachel frowned. "It's just goodbye for now. I'll see you in a few weeks."
"Yeah you're right," I nodded and hugged her tightly before kissing her lips passionately. "I love you, Rach." She wasn't bringing Sophia with her right away so we left her with Rachel's dads. We agreed that it would be a bad idea to take her on a plane ride so soon. Rachel was only staying in New York for three weeks before going back to Lima. Since she didn't get into NYADA, she wasn't planning on going to college until the next fall.
"I love you, too, Finn," she smiled and kissed me back before sighing slightly and walking towards where she was supposed to get on her plane.
"Hey Finn," Kurt grinned at me as he ran into the airport. "I gotta go but I'll text you when we land in New York."
"Sure, see you later," I nodded and hugged Kurt a little before he joined Rachel. Santana walked in a few minutes later and gave me a tight hug.
"If you repeat this I'll deny it but I'm really gonna miss you, Frankenteen," she smiled and walked over to Rachel and Kurt. They all boarded the plane together. I sat down in the waiting area to get on my plane to Connecticut and waited for Mike and Quinn.
"Hey, sorry it took us so long. The security people found my X-box and told me I couldn't bring it with so we got in a huge argument," Mike explained as he walked over to me with Quinn.
"Are you ready to go?" Quinn asked me.
I hesitated before nodding. "I think so."
"Hey, it's not like we're never coming back. We're gonna be here for Thanksgiving and Christmas and every other holiday after that," Quinn said in a reassuring voice. "You just need to look forward rather than at the past."
I nodded again and we all three made our way onto the plane, all of us sitting in one row. "This is gonna be a great year, guys," Mike grinned.
Me and Quinn looked at each other for a second and smiled. She leaned her head on my shoulder just as I got a text from Rachel.
I miss you already babe. I can't wait to see you again and finally start our future together :) Xoxo Rachel
I smiled at the text and looked over at Quinn who was already dozing off and Mike who was playing a game on his phone. It really was going to be a great year.
So that's the end of Sophia :) I just wanted to thank everyone who has read this story and reviewed. I loved writing it and I'm really excited to write the sequel. Stay tuned for the college story Dreaming With a Broken Heart. It will be mostly Fuinn/Samchel with some Finchel for the first chapter and throughout the story. If you read this story then I recommend reading that one but if you can't stand Finn and Quinn together than it's fine if you don't. Thanks again to all of my followers and everyone who has read this story :)
