Carley looked out over the motor inn. Yeah, it wasn't that great, to be honest, it was run down and in need or dire repair. But it did the job. It kept the walkers out. As Carley stood on the balcony where that woman killed herself with the very gun tucked into her belt, she glanced at Lee. She was having those feelings again.
Sure, she was ruthless with the walkers and a dead-eye with a gun, but that's not to say she didn't like being saved by guys. First, there was Doug. He saved her from walkers after her bitch of a editor got eaten. But she was pretty sure that was the only reason she liked the guy.
Lee? Lee was different. Lee made a hard choice choosing her over Doug. He had said he was trying to save them both, he just chose her first. She guessed that Lee thought saving her and giving her bullets would save Doug too, but they were too late. If only Lee had been quicker.
But no, Lee had saved her and she was falling for the man. Not like a stupid damsel crush for her knight in shining armour, she had assured herself she wasn't like that. She really was falling for the guy. She could see him playing football with Clem, like a real father and daughter, like the way families should be.
Sure, she knew about Lee's past, murder, not technically single, liar, but those things didn't matter. In a group who aren't honest anyway, why should he be either? She knew she wasn't.
"Hey Carley." Carley jumped at the sound of Lee next to her, that crooked smile on his face.
"Hey Lee. Didn't expect you up here." Carley said, looking down to hid the embarrassment on her face.
"Well, Clem found some chalks and wanted to draw. And you looked lonely." Lee said, casting his gaze over the motor inn. From the chair on top of the RV, Lilly glared at them.
"I wasn't lonely." Carley said, looking back at the motor inn like Lee.
"Oh, well then, I'll go back down there." Lee said, turning round to leave.
"No, wait!" Carley said, stretching out her arm towards Lee. Lee smiled before turning back around, the smile gone.
"Yeah?" He asked, putting his hand under her chin and lifting her head up to look at him.
"I, uhh… you know what, nevermind." Carley said, backing out of his grasp.
"You sure?" Lee asked, dropping his hand back to his side. Carley looked down and muttered a few words of encouragement to herself. With a hesitant look, Carley looked up.
"I, I think you're a really great guy, Lee." Carley said, internally shooting herself in the face with her own gun for what she just said. That was no way to pick up guys, let alone guys.
"I think you're great too, Carley." Lee said, laughing slightly to himself, crossing his arms and shifting his weight to one foot.
"No, I mean… god, I mean…" Lee chuckled at Carley's tongue-tiedness. "To hell with this." Carley reached up to Lee's shoulders and pulled herself onto her toes and kissed him lightly on the lips. Once done, she steeped back, red flushing over her face.
"Oh, god, I'm sorry, that was out of line, I just-" Lee interrupted Carley by bending down slightly and kissing her back harder. After about a minute, Carley stepped backwards, grabbing hold of the railing.
"Lee!" A child's shout sounded from down in the car park area, and Lee looked over to se Clem beckoning him.
"I- er, gotta take this." Lee said, scratching the back of his head.
"No, go on… tall stuff." Carley said, lightly joking.
"I'll see ya round, short stuff." Lee touched her shoulder lightly and walked away, Carley watching him the whole time. Oh god, I hope Lilly didn't see…
