Friday night came much faster than you would expect. With all of Alice's catching up I had often been over at her house, spending my afternoon's lounging on one of the swinging chairs in her studio, watching her work or typing up stores on my laptop, chatting happily about random things.

Tonight, however, I was not at the Cullen household. I was sitting crossed legged over my sink in my bathroom mirror, plucking my eye brows. I rarely messed with them, but being as how one of the hottest guys in school was taking a liking to me, I might as well take some pride in my appearance.

After I was done tormenting myself, I went into my room and grabbed cgi/set?id=103129221 and changed before I carefully put on my make-up and fishbone braided my hair. It was 5:47 by the time I was done getting ready, Jasper was to be here at 6:00, we were going to go see Catching Fire at the local theater, and then I was going to show Jasper my favorite café in town. I sprayed some Pink Ice perfume before grabbing some money and my phone and shoving them into my pockets.

I trotted down the stairs as the doorbell rang, my step-mother answered it, I heard her kind voice answer, "Oh hello Dear! You must be jasper, my name is Veronica. I'm Haven's step mother."

"It's nice to meet you," I heard Jasper reply. I jumped at the last step and landed on the floor, my heels clicking, causing V and Jasper to look my way. I beamed and waved at the blond in my doorway.

"Hello," I greeted.

"Hello, Haven. You look nice," he smirked as he read my shirt and I chuckled.

"Have a good time, Haven," V said as she kissed my cheek, I smiled and thanked her, then linked arms with Jasper as we exited the house.

"She is very kind," Jasper commented.

"Yes, she is." I smiled, no wicked step-mother there, well, except if you count the whole blood drinking thing, but we kind of all did that in my family. We walked to Jasper's car and he opened the door for me, letting me sit down before he gently shut it and walked over to the driver side. I giggled as he got in and smiled playfully at me.

"To the movies?" he asked.

"Yup!" I exclaimed and bounced in my seat, "I can show you our local haunted house, it's on the way there, it has the most interesting story…"

The sun had sent by the time Jena Carvings was relieved of her babysitting duties. As she stepped out of the Welsh household, she sighed in relief, the two children of the Welsh family were terrible, they screamed and ran amuck about the house, causing Jena to have to chase them about and clean up their never ending messes. Jena slung her Jansport backpack over her shoulder and smoothed out her blue skirt and blazer. Wrapping her wild, wavy hair into a bun, the private school girl stepped of the Welsh family doorstep and began her two block journey down the street.

The street lights were flickering as Jena walked down the street, something she thought to be quite curious and worrisome, since it highly improbable that they would all flicker at the exact same time.

Jena put some pep in her step as she clutched her Biology book to her chest and tucked a strand of curly hair behind her ear. When the girl looked up, she saw a sight that made her brain stop functioning, for it could not comprehend the images her eyes were seeing. A long, billowing string of black smoke was barreling towards her. Jena let out a shriek as she dropped her book and took off running in the opposite direction, back to the Welsh household. The smoke behind her, however, was not allowing that to happen.

The smoke plowed into Jena, clouding her vision, causing her to stumble and let out another cry. This time, when she cried out the smoke forced its way down the young girl's throat, and soon disappeared. Jena sat up in an eerie way, then a smirk found its way to her face as her green eyes flicked black.

"And this is the best café in town," I said as I put my hand in the air, showing off the shop I so adored. It was quite small, the ever clean glass windows had painted black vines running across the tops spelling out, Heaven's Café.

I grabbed Jasper's hand and watched as he smiled at the ground out of the corner of my eyes, and pulled him into the shop. Warm air greeted me as the bell chimed, the smell of hot cocoa and coffee entered my nose and I grinned.

The café was mostly empty at this time of night, save for a few people who worked the night shift ordering coffee and something sweet to keep them up through the night. "They have the best dessert ever," I mumbled as I pulled Jasper over to the short line of people at the front counter.

"So, what do want?" I asked as I peered up at him. Jasper looked startled at the question, but composed himself soon after. What's up with that, I thought.

"I'm not that hungry," he replied.

I cocked my head to the side, "Still? You didn't eat any popcorn at the movies either. Are you feeling alright?" I tried to notice if he looked sickly, but he was so damn pale it was hard to tell.

"Yes," he smiled. "I am fine, I'm just not a big eater." He elaborated.

"Oh," I frowned, "Well I am," I shrugged. "Are you sure you don't want anything to eat? Like a cookie? Hot cocoa? My treat." I smiled.

"No, but thank you Haven," he smiled at me, "Also, you are my date, I am paying."

"No, I got it," I protested.

Jasper quirked a brow at me and argued, "No, I got it. End of story." I squinted my eyes at him but sighed and groaned out, "Fine."

"Can I help you?" a boy's voice sounded from behind me.

"Oh, oops!" I laughed. "Sorry. I'll have a medium cup of hot chocolate with extra marshmallows and a slice of chocolate cheese cake."

The boy at the register nodded and proclaimed, "Alright, that'll be 9.76."

Jasper handed the guy a ten and told him to keep the change. The clerk, whose name badge read Jeremy, rang up the order and Jasper and I went to wait to get it. Soon we were sitting at one of the tables in the café, I was sipping my hot chocolate and slowly eating the cheese cake when Jasper asked, "Can you tell me about yourself?"

I swallowed the bit of cheese cake than hand been in my mouth and looked up thoughtfully, I tapped my index finger on the corner of my lip before I answered.

"Well," I began, "I'm originally from Lafayette, Louisiana. Dad and I moved here when my mother died when I was eight, this is where he met my step mother, Veronica. They got married when I was twelve, I was a bride's maid," I grinned fondly at the memory.

"Father," I bit my lip my brain going over the usual lie and wanted to tell him the truth, that father had been murdered, but I could not. Not without exposing us. "Well, he died in a car crash a year after the wedding. V adopted me and we moved into a different house, her, Mason and me.

Jasper nodded at me to go on, a sad smile on his lips as he looked at me. "I love books," I murmured as I took a bite of the cake, frowning at the fact that it was almost gone. "Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Vampire Academy and Nightshade are a few of my favorites.

"As you know, I love to draw and paint; I can't really do photography though. I play the piano; I have a big one in my room."

"Edward plays the piano," he mused.

"Really?" I asked excitedly. "I have yet to meet anyone who can play," I grinned.

Jasper laughed at my excitement, "Edward's ben at it for a while."

"I've played since I was nine." I informed. The bell chimed through the shop and I turned my head to see a girl strut in. She had bright green eyes and wild brown hair that billowed out all around her. She looked menacing as she strutted in with thigh high combat boots that buckled all the way up, black skinny jeans, and a black muscle shirt. She glanced over at me and smirked, almost as if she knew.

She grinned like a shark and walked over to the counter where she bent over and put her elbow on the counter, moving her back side left and right. She winked at the register guy, Jeremy, who blushed bright red as she bit her nail.

"Hey, darlin'," she greeted Jeremy. The poor boy stuttered out a hello and offered to take the girls order.

"Gimme a two double fudge cookies, a slice of strawberry cheese cake and large cup of hot chocolate, extra marshmallows." She said as she gazed at him hungrily. Jeremy, who was still red in the face, scurried off to the back to collect her order as she slapped at twenty onto the counter.

The guy came back and gave her things before clumsily giving her change, which she carelessly shoved in her pocket.

"Thanks, love." She winked and went to sit at a table in the back. She threw her booted feet atop one of the chairs and shoveled the cheese cake into her mouth as if she had not eaten in years. I looked at her suspiciously before turning back to Jasper, who was frowning, his eyes also on the girl.

"So," I cleared my throat, "What about you?"

Jasper turned away from the girl and gazed at me for a while before speaking, "I was adopted with my twin sister, Rosalie, at a young age. Our parent's died and Carlisle and Esme could not have kids, so they adopted and we got lucky. They move around a lot," he shrugged.

"Not a very exciting life," he grinned, but I could see there was no humor in his eyes, and it made me skeptical. I nodded, as if I hadn't noticed anything and my gaze turned to the girl as I felt eyes watching me.

Sure enough, the girl was staring right at me, a cruel smile played on her lips. Her plate was empty of everything she had ordered and her cup was empty as well, over turned from her slamming it down as she had chugged it. She smirked at me before she blinked and opened her eyes, revealing them to be completely black.

I had to hold in a gasp as she giggled to herself, causing Jasper to look over his shoulder at her suspiciously. The girl stood up abruptly and left her things on the table she was at as she swaggered over to the two of us. She grinned at me as she left the store and all I could do was stare after her with wide eyes.

Demon.
