Forever's Not Enough

A/N: When was the last time I updated? Ugh it's so hard for me to update nowadays, and I'm so sorry for that. I've been noticing that these few chapters aren't roooomantic so here's an EXTRA romantic chapter for you. Nah, this won't be on hiatus unlike Bitten. Bitten is actually a complicated story (I admit) and it's hard for me to continue the plot.

Whatever. Here goes!

Chapter Fourteen - Midnight Kiss

Sting's POV

We slept at the Fairy Tail's guest rooms to reserve our energy for one hour. It was midnight and I was bored as hell. I turned to look at the next bed, which was Lucy's. She was sleeping so peacefully that I just had to stare at her features. Soft blonde hair, amazing chocolate brown eyes, rosy-pinkish skin and kissable lips. Everything about her is perfect. And I wonder if my feelings for her were as perfect, too.

That made me wonder. Who is Lucy Heartfilia to the great and mighty, Sting Eucliffe?

I didn't know.

I glanced at her again but this time she was smiling. She's probably having a good dream. I admired her smile. Her smile was a mystery I'd spend my whole life solving. Her heart was a puzzle I'd spend the whole day putting the pieces back together. Lucy Heartfilia was a book I'm trying to understand. She was a missing piece. A missing piece of me.

"If you're gonna stare at her, make sure to do it right" I heard a voice grumble.

It was Laxus Dreyar, Fairy Tail's master's grandson. He doesn't look pleased nor annoyed, but rather neutral. "I think I'm doing it right" I said nonchalantly.

"Are you just going to lie down there and stare?" he asked. "When are you going to fess up, boy?"

He left the room with me wondering. Am I too easy to read nowadays?

I sighed and stood up. He's right. Lying down here won't get me anywhere close to achieving my dreams. And my dreams?

Lucy Heartfilia.

I shook her lightly to wake her up. "Hey wake up... Lucy wake up..." I whispered.

"Mmm... Sting go away..." she mumbled and gripped her pillow.

"Luuuuucy~ If you don't wake up I'll carry you out of bed~" I sang softly in her ears. Her eyes immediately opened and glared at me.

"What do you want?" she asked, annoyed.

I didn't answer. Instead, I pulled her up and dragged her to the window, grabbing her keys along the way. "I'm bored and you're coming with me" I said with a smirk. "Hold on and don't let go, alright?"

"What?" she asked in disbelief.

"Climb on my back and hold on, blondie" I ordered sternly.

She hesitated at first, but then she did as told anyway. She slowly climbed on my back and held on to my shoulders. I held her legs and she blushed a bit, making me snicker a little. "Don't let go... And don't scream if you don't want to wake 'em up" I warned her.

Then I did the most unexpected thing (for her, at least). I jumped off from the window which was a few stories high from the ground.

"STIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING!"

I laughed as we were falling down, the wind blowing through our faces. I landed gracefully on the ground and I glanced at her. She was shocked and her eyes were closed, probably still thinking that it wasn't over yet. "Hey scaredy cat open your eyes, we're still alive" I teased.

Slowly, she opened her eyes and gave me a punch on the face. It didn't hurt though but I still felt it. "You idiot! What're you doing?!"

"I already said it. I'm bored! And hungry, too. Now come on! We have only have an hour till those people wake up"

I ran through the silent streets of Magnolia, with me carrying Lucy on a piggy back ride and didn't give a damn about anything at all. I could see her smiling from the corner of my eyes, but she kept silent. I took her to the small lake near the forest and told her that she could get off. Once off, I told her to look around.

There she was, gasping in awe. "Sting this is beautiful!" she said happily, obviously amazed.

I rolled my eyes. Nothin' like a Sting Eucliffe can't do. This wasn't just any lake. It was a lake surrounded by a lot of crystal flowers*, and they give off a shine like diamonds as they reflected the moonlight. The lake's water was crystal clear, just like the flowers and gave off a wonderful reflection of the heavens. The sky was blending in well, too. Stars filled the dark purple sky and they shimmered freely.

"I didn't know there was a place as beautiful as this!"

"It's still not as beautiful as you..." I murmured.

"Um did you say something?"

"No"

She laughed. "So... This is what you do when you get bored? Stare at pretty flowers and stargaze?"

"Not exactly..." I hummed and smirked at her. She gulped. I stepped closer to her then picked her up. "This is what I do when I get bored!"

I scooped her up from her feet. "Waah! Sting let go of me!" she screamed frantically and squirmed in my arms.

"Sorry nope!" I said and threw her in the water.

"KYAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!" she shrieked and fell.

Her head soon popped out of the water. "Sting you idiot! You'll pay for this!" Lucy pointed an accusing finger at me and I just laughed.

She's just so cute. And before I knew it, she already grabbed my foot from the water and pulled me in, thus making me fall into the cold, lake. I could hear Lucy laughing and she was splashing the water. I rose up and glared at her. "Tch, blondie!" I tackled her and we both sank into the water. I laughed and rose out of the water.

"Sting!" she yelled angrily.

"Come and catch me if you can!" I teased and ran around the lake.

She chased willingly with gritted teeth but she looked so happy. I slowed down a bit for her to catch up but she already tackled me down the water. We were both laughing and I unintentionally hugged her but to my surprise, she didn't push me away. "Sting you're an idiot you know that?" she said between her laughs as we're both still in the water.

"Ah yeah but I'm your idiot, right?" I joked.

"Of course you are..." she said and giggled.

That sent me blushing harder than I thought. Ugh. The things this blondie can do to me. I swear that she'll be the cause of my death someday. Then all my thoughts about her back in the guild came creeping into my head. I remembered what Laxus told me.

"When are you going to fess up, boy?"

"When are you going to fess up, boy?"

"When are you going to fess up, boy?"

"When are you going to fess up, boy?"

His voice echoed in my head and I shuddered.

I'm going to fess up right now.

I held Lucy's shoulders with both of my hands and asked her to look at me. "Lucy, I have something to tell you" I said slowly.

"S-Sting?"

I smiled at her. "I-I... I love you" I sincerely confessed. Then her happy expression faded. Oh no.

Silence.

Shit. Is this rejection?

"Sting... I..."

"No it's okay if you don't return my fee—"

But before I could finish, I felt soft lips crash into mine. My eyes widened.

No way. Lucy Heartfilia... Lucy Heartfilia's kissing me.

Though what can a man do when she's being kissed by the girl she loves? I started kissing her back. Her hands cupped my face and I slid an arm around her waist. My other hand was still on her shoulders as we deepened the kiss. It felt so good. And this is just how I imagined it would be. Unfortunately, not all things last forever, so we had to stop for air.

We parted, looked away then laughed. Blushing was an understatement for the both of us.

"Sting..."

"Yeah?"

"I love you too, my idiot"

I had to end it there. I wasn't too inspired, so it isn't as romantic as it sounded. Sorry but yeah, happy holidays and a happy new year! Sorry for the short chapter too. I couldn't write a lot these days.
