Stefan's point of View:

It's Saturday and like every Saturday I go to a small coffee shop to work. I no longer go to school because I have already done it so many times before. What for? How often have I graduated? 30 or 40 times? It is not so important for me considering I am here for an eternity.

I work as a waiter. And it's not as bad as I thought, the money is just enough to make ends meet. The positive aspect of the job is the tip, which many of the customers give. Many girls who come here and drink a coffee, put their phone numbers on the saucer next to their cups, but I don't pay much attention to them and don't normally call them. I just give them a thank you and just tell them that I may call them, just to keep their hopes up.

At this moment I am currently in the kitchen of the café and preparing a cappuccino for a customer, when suddenly my boss storms in loudly. ''Stefan, you still have to place the order for Table 9.''

I nod and tell him, ''Yes, I'm on my way! ''

I give the cappuccino to one of my workers and go out the kitchen to assist table 9, on that table I see 3 girls talking. One is s a red-head, the other blond and the third one is brunette.

On the way to the table the redhead stares at me and smiles. Then she whispers something to her friends, who then also look at me and smile. When I am at her table, I smile the smile I do to all customers and say politely, ''Hello ladies, what would you like to order?''

The redhead smiles and responds quickly, ''For me a latte... and what would you like Amber and Sophie? ''

She points to the blond and brunette who one after another reply.

''I would like to have a cappuccino,'' the blond said.

''And a chai latte for me,'' the brown-haired girl responded.

I nod and say to them, ''Coming right up!''

After I receive my order from them, I go back into the kitchen and prepare their drinks. 10 minutes later, I come out with a tray with the drinks and go to her table again, and I give them their requested drinks and ask them, ''Here you go. Would you like anything else? ''

They thank me and the blond says to me then, "Yes, there would be something."

I raise an eyebrow and ask, "And what may that be?"

She grins at me. "How about giving me your phone number?"

The redhead looks at her angrily and says to me gently, "You don't have to give her your number, if you don't want to. But, you can have mine."

The blond and the brunette, stare at her in amazement, but say nothing. She pulls out a small piece of paper and writes her number with her name on it, and gives it to me. I look at the piece of paper she has given me and say to her, "Oh, thank you Lilly, but that won't be necessary."

She rolls her eyes and says sternly, "Of course it is! I want you to have it. So call me anytime."

The blond haired girl snorts and then the brunette giggles and says, "Don't be so rude, Amber."

She rolls her eyes contemptuously. Then the girl with fair hair turns to me, brings a note from her purse and hands it to me and declares, "If you have more desire to call me instead of Lilly, here my number. You can have fun with me, just for your information."

I laugh and say with a grin on my face, "Thank you, girls. I'll call you."

The brunette looks at me interested and says, "Maybe? Do you have a girlfriend or something?"

I stand there frozen and look to the side. Quickly, I return my gaze at them and answer with a sigh, "No... But I did."

She looks at me apologetically and says sorrowfully, "I'm sorry ... uh Stefan."

I look down at my name tag, smile and tell her, "Don't worry about it."

Just before I turn to go back, the redhead, I mean Lilly states, "If you want to talk to someone about it, I'm here to listen."

And then Amber says hastily, "Me too. I'm a great listener."

I smile a small smile and tell them, "Thank you."

They nod and I watch them leave and head back to the kitchen or should I say my second home.

I spend the whole day taking orders and serving food to the respective tables. It's 6 pm and it is closing time. I put my jacket on and say goodbye to my colleagues. Here work about five people and two of them are young women. "I'll see you all on Monday."

They nod and say to me, "Until Monday."

Just before I exit the cafe, my boss comes up to me and hands me an envelope.

"Here is your reward. Have fun with it," he says with a smile.

I nod and tell him weakly, "Thank you."

I walk back to my apartment since it is only a few blocks away. While I'm walking, I think of Caroline who called me back and told me about Elena, who says she misses me very much and also wants to know where I am currently living.

Elena. The name hurts my heart. Why must it torment me so much? Now she misses me. And I?

I miss her too... a lot, but I can't go back. My heart would not be able to cope. I finally have to let her go and start afresh, but I just can't. It seems impossible to get rid of her. I still have all our moments and memories in my head and they won't go.

Fifteen minutes later, I arrive back at my apartment and sit by my desk with my diary in front of me. I sigh and wonder if I still feel for her. Probably not, since she is with Damon now. The two of them are properly sitting together on the couch and watch a film, while I am alone in my room, thinking about the past and writing it in my diary. God, I'm pathetic. Maybe I should even call one of those girls.

The redhead; I liked her she wasn't as intrusive as the fair haired girl.

I shake my head and say to myself, "No, I can't, because then I will only see Elena right in front of me."

I go to my bed and lay down, trying to drift off, but I can't. All I can think about is Elena. I take my phone out of my pocket and I see that I have two missed calls from Caroline and one from 'Unknown.' Elena, again, I thought. Why is she doing this to me? Why does she keep finding ways to break my heart?

I sigh and write Caroline a short text message, "Hey Caroline! I'm fine. Well, it depends on how you define 'fine'. Today was a pretty much full day with working and guess who got 2 numbers from some pretty girls? Yeah, I did. But I don't think I will call them. Why should I? What is the sense of it? I don't know if I ever can get over her. Sorry, I missed your call, Care. I'll call you sometime later again. :) Until then, Stefan. "

I put my phone on the nightstand table, turn off the small lamp that is on the table and cuddle myself under the covers. I close my eyes and immediately see pictures of Elena and me.

I shake my head violently and repress these thoughts. After a while, it works and I sleep, even if it isn't the most peaceful sleep I have had. To encourage myself a bit, I tell myself during sleeping that tomorrow will be a different day, a better day.

PS: I hope you all had fun with this. I don't know when the next chapter will come but it will be Elena's POV. :) Till then and I wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year :D
