It Started With That Girl

Hello everyone! :D I hope you'll be enjoying my latest bout of insane pairing-ness!

Before anyone can ask (because I feel like someone will be asking) Layla is not Tom and Jerry's kid from the future. Her DAD is a mouse. And her MOM is a cat. With Tom and Jerry... Well, Jerry's female in this fic, but she's a mouse.

And before anyone can FLAME, there have been numerous pairing pics of these two with Jerry as a girl. And yes, Jerry IS name for both genders.

Also, everyone in this fic is basically a humanoid-animal type thing.

Anyways, I do not own Tom and Jerry. (If I did, then Layla would be an actual character! :D)

"Everyone, listen up! We have a new student" the teacher, Mrs. Samson called out. The hamster woman glanced at her clipboard, where she had presumably written the new kid's name.

"Please welcome, Layla Katherine Munson" she said, glancing back up. Just then, a sixteen year old girl walked through the door.

The girl had messy brown hair, but black mouse ears on her head. Her hair covered her right eye, but the one that showed was a chocolate brown. She had a small nose with three whiskers on both sides. Her cat-like tail, which was covered in brown hair, poked out of her denim skirt. She wore a pink sweater, black boots that went to her ankle, and a black choker around her neck. She had cat-like claws that were painted pink instead of regular fingernails.

"Miss Layla, you may sit between Tom and Jerry" Mrs. Samson stated. Layla glanced to the class, unsure of who was who.

"I'm Jerry!" a brown-haired girl called out, her brown mouse ears flopping around as she waved her hand in the air.

"Tom" said a gray-haired boy with black cat ears, as he lifted his hand up. Layla blinked as she looked between the two.

Great, just great. I'm stuck between a cat and a mouse...

Regardless, she decided not to tell the teacher about her predicament and walked to sit in the empty chair between the hyper-active mouse girl and the gruff, silent cat boy.

...

The bell rang, signaling lunchtime. Everyone sighed with relief as Mrs. Samson frowned and put away the test papers.

"Okay, I suppose we'll take the test tomorrow..." she said, but hardly anybody heard. The class began to file out the door, eager to get to lunch.

Layla sighed as she reached the cafeteria, and promptly had her arm being yanked by Jerry.

"You can eat with me and Nibbles!" she told her happily, giving Layla no oppurtunity to give her opinion. When they reached the line, Tom promptly shoved past to get ahead.

"Hey!" Jerry cried. Tom looked at her, uncaring.

"Whadda you want?"

"You can't just-"

"I think I can do whatever I want. I'm the predator, am I not?" Tom interrupted. Jerry froze in fear, and Layla frowned.

"Well... Why does it really have to be that way?" she asked. Tom and Jerry stared at her, as well as any other students nearby.

"What?" Tom asked with a laugh. Layla took a deep breath.

"Why do cats and mice always have to fight? C-can't they be f-friends? Or... Lovers?"

Everyone burst into laughter at that. Even the lunchladies, and the teachers. Layla's lower lip quivered.

"I'm serious! Why can't a cat and a mouse have a child?"

"Because it's against nature" Tom told her, and everyone voiced their agreement. Layla frowned sadly, and walked away.

"I'm not hungry... I'm going to go to the library..." she whispered, head down. She walked out the doors and towards the school library.

Hey! So, if anyone out there has a deviantART account and wants to draw out this story in a comic form, could you please let me know? I'm not a great drawer, so I don't think I should do it.
