A/N: For the Ravenous Romance Challenge, this is my Medium story where one of my characters had to be Padma Patil. It is short, but it is what came to mind. Enjoy.

Bright Burning Lights

It burnt against his skin with an intensity worse than the Crucuatis curse. Well that was what it felt like anyway, in reality the ring that sat in it's box in Seamus' pocket was inflicting no actual pain. But Seamus could not sit still and a slight brush of the ring against his leg made his body shake and sweat. He was nervous there was no doubt about that. Yet he was also excited. Yet also scared, there was a chance she could say no.

"Are you okay?" Padma asked. Seamus looked up at Padma and smiled awkwardly rubbing his seating hands against his thighs.

"Of course," he said picking up his glass of wine, taking a sip.

"You just seem kind of," Padma started choosing her words carefully. "Distant." Seamus let out a breath he hadn't realised he was holding and tried to laugh her observation off as all in her head. But his laugh got caught in his throat and he made an odd gargling noise. Padma looked at him with confusion and Seamus coughed taking another sip.

"I can't believe we have been together for three years," Seamus changed the subject and Padma stared at him still.

"Are you getting cold feet?" she asked.

"Of course not," Seamus sighed putting his hand in his pocket and gripping the box. "Quite the opposite actually." He stood up and kneeled down in front of Padma who was starring at him in complete shock.

"I love you Padma Patil, and I wish I had a long amazing speech planned to amaze you in every way, but all I can think to say is, Will you Marry me?" he stumbled over his words. Padma let a big and bright smile spread across her face. She nodded slowly words beseeching her and Seamus stood up placing the ring on her finger before kissing her hard.

It was a few minutes before either of them realised the whole restaurant was cheering for them.
