A/N: Written for the Something other than freeverse, yes? Challenge on the HPFC. This week's stipulation was: "You may not use the letter 'E' in your poem at any time!" Which knocked out even things like "the". :) Also written for the 100_poems challenge on livejournal - to write 100 poems in 100 days, as poem 3/100 and day 2 (so I'm making good time).
A Quick-Jig on a Ballroom Floor
Doing a quick-jig upon a ballroom floor –
You happy? Is that it? Skidding with click-clacking
boots on boot-polish wood
with a girl in arm, smiling and laughing
and looking as happy as you.
You grin.
Girl grins back.
You happy with that?
Don't you want to talk?
Talk around your click-clacking boots
and booming music background
and your colouring laughs –
Or happy to go away
with a quick-jig
and part from this fork-path to courtship
on this ballroom floor?
