Izaya was dreaming. How he knew it was a dream he couldn't tell himself.

His ghost was chained, her wrists and ankled chained to something, but as to where exactly he wasn't exactly sure. The metal chains seemed to go on forever.

The clanking metal resonated through his ears as he watched her struggle to get to her feet. Her dress was torn and bloodied, her skin brandished with violet bruises, and red scars, her hair mussed and filthy.

Even though she was broken and barely breathing the smile on the tip of her lips never left her face almost as if she knew they couldn't keep her chained like this.

In that state she looked so pitiful and yet beautiful in this form, it was almost breathtaking. She was the very definition of human, struggling to live, struggling to get back on her own two feet without help, always trudging forward...

It was a shame really.

If only she were still alive, he would've had the enjoyment of killing her with his own hands.

For reasons unknown he could hear voices around him, but mainly a female's voice.

"Well I know you're lonely, but I didn't expect you to swing that way." She murmured with a teasing smirk at the position he was in. In response he groggily opened his eyes to find , once again she floated above his sleeping form glancing at the other party with mischief.

"What are you talking about?" He muttered running a hand through his bed hair. The glare of the sun bothered him as he tried to reach for his cellphone. His hand slid over smooth skin... that wasn't his own.

Jolting back he realized this wasn't his bed. Nor was this his apartment. The place was way too plain and small to be his.

There was a low familiar groan from the person sleeping next to him. He could feel the cold air on his skin giving him goosebumps. He paused attempting to analyze the situation he was in. He did not like what he was seeing.

Here he was sleeping with only boxers on next to that monstrous atrocity of a human being. Of all monsters she just had to choose Shizu-chan.

Jumping out of the bed he searched Shizu-chan's apartment for his clothes.

"This is your surprise of all things?" He whispered exasperated. To think she would possess him while he was asleep was uncalled for. Then again, he did play that underhanded stunt the previous time.

She tilted her head feigning innocence. "What are you talking? You walked into his apartment of your own free will." Even he could detect the sarcastic tone of her message. She'd done this before the first time they met a couple days back. There was humour in her eyes as she answered. "I even took black mail photos."

"Am I supposed to be convinced?"

"Your body no longer belongs to you alone. You agreed to play this game. Just as you have your game pieces, I also have some of my own. You just happen to be one of them." She explained with a nonchalant shrug. "It's nothing you should be shocked about. It's bound to happen one way or another."

This human possession trick of hers was going to be a handful in the near future.

Shizuo on the other hand was still sound asleep not even noticing that Izaya had been sleeping next to him. Izaya managed to tame his bed head and find his clothes on a chair. In his haste he didn't notice that she had taken his knives into her hands watching him get dressed with mild amusement.

She had an amused smile on her lips as she mouthed Tick Tock, Tick Tock, Tick Tock. She pointed towards Shizuo's sleeping form.

Izaya really didn't want to have this kind of confrontation with Shizu-chan at the moment.

However, she was shaking in silent laughter at his horrified expression at the situation. "Don't worry, you're still a virgin if that's what you're worried about. This was just an experiment of mine."

"This is your surprise?" He inquired incredulous.

"Nope. This is my amusement." She retorted glancing around the apartment, "like I said, this was just an experiment."

"What did you wish to confirm?" He asked

She blinked once before cheerfully answering "Your sexuality."

"Is there someone you love more than yourself? Is there anyone you would openly be honest with? To be honest," She paused before chuckling. "I don't consider you a man. It was difficult imagining you with a woman so I thought what if it was a man?"

"And how do I look in your eyes?"

Her eyes seemed to become sharper as she smiled. Switching focuses from Shizuo and Izaya she grinned neutrally before shrugging.

"You look like the type to be held by a man." She emphasized.

That was the last straw. "In what way do I seem like I swing that way?"

"Do you really want me to list all the reasons?" She asked with a shrug. She tilted her head in a way that was meant to be maternal, but it was more demeaning than anything.

"To decipher the human mind is impossible. All I can really do is observe and control." She made her way to Shizuo's bed brushing Shizuo's cheek with a soft gentle touch. "To be honest, there's only one reason why I like interfering."

"Your love for humanity disgusts me." She revealed tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "It's irritating to see you disillusioned by your so called 'love' for them."

At least she was being truthful, Izaya inwardly noted. He had a feeling there was something brewing beneath that cheerful facade of hers.

"It's fun interfering with your plans." She shrugged nonchalantly with a shadow of a smile on her lips. She always seemed to be amused by something, he noticed, no matter how strict the subject. As if she lacked certain emotions.

"My thoughts exactly." He retorted

"That will backfire one day you know." She warned with a hint of worry. "Your observations of them will change as they move on with their lives. You don't seem to change and that confuses me."

"That I don't change or how it will backfire on me?"

She walked up to him, lightly caressing the side of his head with cold, pale fingers. It was strange how her touch could feel so real and yet so inhuman at the same time. He couldn't tell if it was from anticipation or disgusts. "Both. Always both"

"It's obvious that you yourself don't plan to change, but your views on humans will change daily. You're disillusioned by your own perceptions." She revealed indicating to his eyes. "We are all biased, humans can't escape it. No matter how much parents try to teach kids to be open minded they will come up with their own conclusions. We choose who we hate and we choose who we love, to be something, to believe in a religion. They are merely choices we make every day."

"My choice was to push you towards Shizuo Heiwajima, but I guess you're straight from your lack of reaction down there." She indicated to his pants.

He would've killed her if she were still alive.

Shizuo stirred groaning lightly restless making Izaya itch to kill the man right then and there.

She pointed to the door. "You should probably get going before he wakes up to find you in his apartment."

He didn't have to be told twice. The smell of tobacco was revolting enough without her saying so. He was about to go when all of a sudden his ghost yelped loudly.

"Just why the hell are you in my apartment?" Shizuo growled, but it wasn't intended for Izaya. It startled Izaya to no end when he was realized Shizuo wasn't intending his words for him.

Shizuo was speaking to her. Her violet eyes widened astonished that he could even see her let alone grab her hand with so much force. IT made the wheels of her mind go into motion as she thought about the most logical reason why the fake blond could interact with her. From what she knew about her own circumstances...

There were conditions that had to be met to be able to see her.

If even Shizuo Heiwajima met those conditions...

Her grin widened at the new discovery. Things were getting more and more interesting. "So you can see me too~ How interesting. It'll be a shame if I killed you too early in the game."

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?" He yelled, but then stopped as his own eyes widened at her appearance. Izaya wasn't sure what Shizuo saw, but he could definitely conduct that the way he saw her and the way Shizuo saw her were distinctively from his reaction. "What happened to you? You look like you came back from hell."

"Haha" She smiled "It's not everyday someone tells me that." She tapped her chin in thought. "It seems like you can see through the illusion; how interesting... You know what, I have a different job for you."

She raised a hand covering the man's eyes before murmuring in a quiet soft tone into the shell of his ear. Izaya had been too far away to hear what she had said to him, but it seemed to surprise Shizuo before the blond passed out again face planting his pillow.

"Whoops, I guess he'll be out for another two hours." She sheepishly muttered tucking the larger man back into his original position before backing away jogging towards Izaya. "Let's go before someone else joins the party."

Following her lead they got out of Shizuo's apartment before anyone could see them. He had the urge to throw another knife at her, but she had already confiscated his blades from his person.

"Looking for these?" She inquired holding his blades in her hands. "You'll have to go without them for now."

"You truly relish that control of yours." Izaya mocked.

"No, it's just fun to mess with you. Besides I never said I was a good person. I do what I want." She stuck out her tongue in defiance.

However, Izaya was more interested as to how Shizuo could see her.

"He could see you. Care to explain?" He inquired raising an eyebrow.

She hummed as she thought about her answer. This Eskimo really liked to ask questions. Even if he was a douche bag, he still had the curiosity of a high schooler, asking all the wrong questions.

The fur trim coat he always wore irritated to no ends, it reminded her of unpleasant feelings she had discarded back then.

"You never noticed me until now." She began as she jumped on top of the empty bench. Her hands were used to balance herself as she walked along the edge of the bench. "Am I right?"

"Right" He responded awaiting her explanation.

"Well if you think about it, you've seen enough movies to know why a spirit can suddenly be seen. Why don't you list them?"

He thought about it and he was reminded of the grim reaper. The only reason why they could be seen...

was because the heroine was about to die.

The most common reason for the sudden ability to see a spirit was because the person was on the edge of death.

She watched his expression change into realization before she smirked in victory. His reddish brown eyes narrowed at her over confident stance. Her neon poncho seemed to have more significance than he had originally thought. It was a way to attract others into noticing her presence, she was just a succubus in the making.

She stood on higher ground making her look more bigger than him; it didn't bother him which was strange. Tucking a strand of hair behind her ear she whistled a sad melody before she angled her head downwards to meet his reddish brown irises.

"I died on the twenty fourth. Did you know? The reason why the Chinese don't like the usage of this number?" She question in a silky persuasive tone.

In that velvet tone, he knew she was up to no good

"It seems that the pronunciation of this number in Cantonese sounds similar to "easy to die""

"You know. When people are able to see me it means they'll die on the exact day, the exact time, as I did at that time. No matter if they begin seeing me three days or six hours prior to the twenty-fourth. It all ends up the same." She raised a hand reaching to touch his cheek.

He could see the silver band on her index finger shining in the sunlight, but he remembered that only certain people could see him conversing with her.

Her smile grew wider in wickedness. "Time is ticking Izaya-kun. Today is the third and you met me six days ago."

She lifted her other hand moving them to each side of his head raking her fingers into his raven black hair. He had a feeling she was contemplating squeezing his brain out of his skull, but she held back on her urge to kill this man. It was tempting to kill him right here and now, but she killed him earlier than his expected due date, she would have certain godly forces on her tail attempting to drag her to Heaven or Hell. She had to be careful of how she conducted her game.

It wouldn't be amusing if the game stopped midway.

She kept her eyes at equal level with his own brain was whirling through the meaning of her words. He already knew he had a time limit to find her body, but if he won she would help him cheat death. But the chances of him winning was below one percent.

Izaya's blood ran cold at her next coming words. Her smile seemed crueler than intended as she stood on top of the empty bench above him. Even with the reveal of when she died, he felt that she was intentionally telling this to him now to shake his resolve to win. In the light it almost seemed like she had black wings adorned on her back in reminder that she was no angel. If only those who were about to die on the twenty fourth were capable of seeing her, if what she said was true then...

"You only have twenty one days to find me."

Thanks for reading, and things are going to pick up the pace with this little time limit of his.
