Inuyasha held the tiny bundle in his arms. The half demon was surprised that he was holding his son.
Kagome and Inuyasha were stumped on finding the name for their unnamed son. "Kagome and the baby are resting well." Inuyasha heard Kaede say to the others that were outside waiting on how the mother and child were doing.
"He's so tiny." Inuyasha's ears twitched to hear Kagome's words as she smiled brilliantly at him. Her oceanic eyes shone the happiness that glowed off her. Currently, he was sitting next to her, his back against the wall as she was lying down on the futon.
"He is," Inuyasha said, staring down at his son. The newborn's nose started to twitch and his small arms started to reach upwards.
Kagome smiled watching at her two boys,"He's hearing your voice." Then she let out a small laugh as she watched in awe at their son who's eyelids were closed but let out a small grunt. The older miko glanced lovingly at the new family and was happy that they didn't have anything to trouble them in their lives. After informing their friends over the newest addition, she entered the hut only for a moments time.
"Your child is healthy Inuyasha. Within a months time his claws and fangs will grow. He might as well learn how to crawl. I'll go get some water, come along Rin," Kaede said with a small smile and she walked away from the new parents. Rin cheerfully waved to them before turning to walk off with the older miko.
"Are you just going to make us wait out here or are we going to be introduced by the next person who will be wielding tetsusaiga like a mad man?" Kagome and Inuyasha heard Miroku say from outside. Kagome noticed Inuyasha growl and she laughed,"It's all right. You guys can come in."
"Kagome-chan, he is so adorable," Sango said for the fiftieth time as she held her own son, Tadashi.
Inuyasha passed his son to his wife who was sitting up to retrieve him from his arms. She grinned as her son turned his head, already recognizing her scent.
Haruka and Sakura peered behind their father and smiled at the newborn with wide eyes. They giggled and exchanged similar looks that made Inuyasha feel rather uncomfortable. "Baby has Inu-oji-san's ears." He knew that the girls would soon would want to rub his ears from that point on.
Kagome laughed and held her son close to her, his small hands wandered over to her face and he let out a small grunt, making everyone in the hut laugh in joy. It was one of those times that they would cherish.
"Girls, now you must know that you can't pull on his ears like you do to your Uncle Inuyasha. His are too delicate for one to touch," Miroku said to his twin daughters, giving them a warning with his facial expression. The girls, upon noticing their father's seriousness, slumped down in sadness.
"Your father is right, you might hurt him, and you don't want that do you?" Sango questioned them. Haruka and Sakura gasped and covered their mouths in sheer horror.
"We don't want to hurt him," they mumbled with shocked eyes.
"Maybe one day you will get to hold him," Kagome said to the girls who were now high spirited. They squealed softly to each other and let bouts of laughter. Kagome noticed Inuyasha look at her with a 'you are trying to kill me' look. She apologetically grinned in return. Although when he was about to open his mouth to speak, there was a cry in the village.
One that disrupted the family moment and would likely cause more trouble if not dealt with soon.
"Demon!" Inuyasha heard a village man bellow.
Cursing mentally, Inuyasha got up from the wooden floor. His golden orbs glanced at the monk who gave him a short nod. "It ain't getting anywhere near this part of the village," Inuyasha informed, walking to the door then looked over his shoulder at his wife and newborn child.
"I'll be right back, just don't go anywhere," Inuyasha ran out. He smirked when he heard Kagome say,"Sure. Where else would I go." Inuyasha walked out of the hut, Miroku not too far behind as he spoke to his wife.
"Kagome-sama, I'll go help him out. Sango, stay here with the girls and Tadashi. We won't be long," Miroku said, following suit.
Noticing her father leaving in a hurry, the twins looked at their mother. "Is daddy going to fight the demon?" Sakura was the one to ask, staring at her mother. Sango nodded and the twins gasped.
"Daddy isn't going to get hurt is he?" the twins asked in unison, obviously worried for their father. Kagome smiled at the girls love and care for their father and looked at the her son.
His ears started to twitch and his eyes gazed at hers, his lips began to tremble and his eyes watered. Kagome started to soothe him,"Shh, baby mama is here. Don't worry, your father will be here soon."
The shouts of the village men and roars of the demon soon subsided, and it didn't take more than ten minutes before both, Miroku and Inuyasha returned to the hut.
"Is everything okay in here?" Inuyasha asked, holding Tetsusaiga's hilt and went over to his family. "Yup, but someone missed you, even if you weren't gone long," Kagome said, gazing at her husband as he sat cross legged behind them once more.
His golden orbs widened only a fraction."He missed me?"Inuyasha asked and was answered by his wife's lively gesture with her head. "Keh! Our pup should know that I won't let anything happen to him and you," Inuyasha said.
Miroku and Sango smiled at each other and silently left the hut with their children to overly excited Shippo who was sitting outside talking to Rin and Kaede.
"And what you say is true," Kagome whispered as Inuyasha settled down next to her and she placed her head on his shoulder.
"True," she whispered and smiled. "I think I found a name for our son," she said. "That is if you like it," Kagome added. Inuyasha looked at her and waited.
"Makoto. For true."
Inuyasha grinned and the two parents stared at their son. "How about that pup, do you like that, Makoto?" In response, the newborn grunted as he did earlier and they both smiled.
I can't believe that I have a son, but seeing all of this, is something I never expected. To have a home. Inuyasha thought, he looked at Kagome who was saying things in a baby voice, A wife that came from the future. Then lastly at the newborn, And a pup. A family. My family, all of this, is true.
