Epilogue

Super Eight's Motel
Town, Colorado
October 8th, 2008

Elaina found herself curled up in a ball in the small hospital room. Her eyes were trained on the door to the room that was closed now, but from what she had seen so far of this thing, that flimsy door would not keep it out if it knew they were there. The fact that it hadn't found them yet was a miracle all in itself.

Across the room, Ci'tde stood ready in case that thing found them. Time seemed to stand still as they waited silently, holding their breaths. It was so quiet outside the room, unlike the sound of her heavy breathing. They were absolutely defenseless, having lost their weapons during a fight earlier. Being unarmed they had been forced to retreat and find a place to hide as the sounds of the aliens drew near. There were so damn many of them that it floored Elaina. How quickly they had procreated without a Queen, it scared the hell out of her.

This new alien, the one with the face of a Yautja, that had been born from Skl're, seemed to be able to breed without a Queen. She had seen that pregnant woman all torn apart from the inside out. The horrors of the pyramid were nothing compared to what they were facing here in this town.

Lex was out there somewhere with Skl're and Warkha. She knew Lex wouldn't leave her behind, but she feared for the other woman's life with that thing out there hunting them. How could they defeat something like that? It was as big and strong as a Predator and silent and deadly as an alien.

Elaina was torn from her thoughts when a hand came down on her shoulder, nearly scaring her half to death. She looked up sharply, only to find Ci'tde standing there. He tilted his head at her, his silent question apparent even without words. She wished she had his strength. She wished she could feel as fearless as he did in the face of danger. It was like nothing fazed him.

Ci'tde crouched down in front of her, his mask as expressionless as always. She searched the surface of his mask, wanting desperately to know what he was thinking. If he thought, they would make it out alive or if he knew they were screwed. She couldn't see anything of his face that was hidden beneath the mask and was unable to read his expression. Was he angry with her, worried about her? Was he annoyed? Like in the pyramid, she was only slowing him down and yet he still refused to leave her behind. Did his kind have a 'no man left behind' kind of mindset like the Marines did?

The hand on her shoulder shifted and she felt his talons graze the skin beneath the strap of the tank top she wore. The touch drew a flush to her cheeks as she stared at him. Her mouth had gone dry and she found herself unable to speak. To her surprise, Ci'tde raised his other hand to pull at the tubes from his mask and the hiss of the air released was loud to her ears.

"What are you doing," she whispered fiercely, her eyes darting to the door.

It hadn't been that long ago when the creature had passed by their door having lost sight of them. She was grateful it didn't have any eyes and could only sense them by movement and noise. Ci'tde was making so much noise now though, as he removed his mask and set it aside.

Is he insane?

She stared wide eyed at his face. The strangeness of it no longer bothered her now. When she was younger, the fierceness of his expressions and the size of his teeth had truly frightened her. He was hideous and even now her stomach turned as she stared at those mandibles as they flexed around his mouth. She had seen them tear into a candy bar not that long ago and it had not been an amusing sight. She could just imagine what that mouth could do to her if given the chance. Elaina swallowed thickly as her cheeks burned even more with the turn of her thoughts.

Suddenly a purr started from deep within his chest and Elaina balked at the noise. What is he doing?

"Celtic," she whispered, afraid he might draw the creature's attention back to them. Even if it was possible it had left the area, there were still other aliens out there looking for an easy meal ticket.

Instead of listening to her pleas for him to be quiet, his purr seemed to only intensify in volume and in vibration. He reached out with a hand and Elaina watched it wearily as it drew near her. She straightened her back up against the wall she had been leaning against, as one of his talons touched her cheek almost tenderly. She stared at his face, unsure what to think, as his eyes bore into hers as if to see how she would react to the touch.

Ci'tde had touched her many times before this, back in the pyramid and since they first met up here in Gunnison. They usually consisted of comfort if she was worried or warning her if she did something foolish. This time it seemed different and she couldn't bring herself to see what the touch meant as his eyes lowered to look down at her. His hand trailed a path from her cheek to her neck. The tear in her shirt from an earlier scuffle showed the necklace he had given her. Nestled between her breasts and hanging from the hand-crafted chain was the tip of talon from the alien she had killed in the pyramid. Ci'tde had given her the necklace last night, before everything had gone to hell.

He took the necklace in his hand and fingered the talon there as he tilted his head thoughtfully.

"Ci'tde," she whispered his name.

It was the first time she tried to say his real name and it drew his attention to her face. The look in his eyes frightened her as the heated stare scorched her right down to her core.

She drew in a startled breath, but it came out as a gasp as his hand released the necklace only to cup her right breast without any warning. Her eyes widened and her mouth fell open in shock. Before she could voice her distress, Ci'tde's talon scraped against her sensitive nipple and the sensation sent shivers racing across her exposed skin. Elaina threw her head back against the wall none too gentle and bit back a moan. Oh god what is he doing?

"Wh-what are you doing," she barely managed to get the words out as he began to thumb her nipple until it formed into a hardened peak. A low moan escaped her parted lips, as her eyes fell close against the heat that formed between her legs. Oh god why is he doing this?

Didn't he understand the danger they were in? Didn't he understand how wrong this was? She was human and he wasn't.

Why?

His hand kneaded her breast and his hardened skin caused small electrical little thrills to course through her body with each scrape across her nipple. The whole time his eyes watched her face, studying the way she reacted to his touch. A new smell drew his attention down her body as he continued to tease her breast through the fabric of her tank top. He tilted his head as the intoxicating scent drew a much deeper purr from deep within his chest. His whole body shook from it and he suddenly grabbed her body and pulled her flush against him.

Elaina gasped, her eyes widening as her already sensitive breasts met his chest as he continued to purr.

"Oh god," she moaned, her teeth nearly biting through her bottom lip as liquid heat pooled deep within her belly.

Ci'tde reached down, spreading her legs and forcing them over his thick thighs so that her core was flush against his waist. Elaina couldn't muffle the cry that tore its way from her throat as the vibrations stimulated the small bud there even through the fabric of her shorts.

"Oh-" she cried as her hips ground against him of their own accord. Her body shook from the pleasure being forced upon her. She wound her arms around his neck pulling his body flush against her chest once more. She continued to grind against him, her fingers digging into the hide of his back as she clung to him desperately. "Oh- oh god."

A mixture of pain and pleasure began to build deep inside her. Like molten lava it scorched her from the inside out. Her skin became flush as sweat broke out across her forehead. Her ponytail clung to her skin and Ci'tde reach up to brush it from her neck, his talons moved to finger the ring that held her hair back, the one he had given her as a gift. His tongue slid out of his mouth to taste the salt of her sweat that collected at a sensitive spot there. Gasping, her head fell back exposing her neck to him fully. He took advantage of her vulnerably and licked the exposed throat, his mandibles scraping against her skin causing goose-bumps to break out across her flesh.

"Please," she begged, her hips thrusting harder and faster against him shamelessly.

She found herself reduced to this state as she helplessly begged for release. Her hand came up to his hair and her fingers wrapped around one of the tube-like appendages as her pleasure peaked painfully. Ci'tde roared and his mandibles spread wide as pleasure lanced through him from the hold she had on his sensitive dreads. His hips bucked violently up against hers and her climax tore itself through her body. She was left quivering and shuddering above him as her orgasm racked her body with spasms-

Elaina opened her eyes to stare up at the ceiling of her motel room. She frowned, her brows drawn together as she sat up to search the room for Ci'tde. It was then she remembered that Ci'tde was gone and she was in a seedy motel room, hiding from the military and the very company that her father had once owned. Tears collected in her eyes and she quickly rubbed them away. Crying never fixed anything.

Lying back down, she curled up on her side with her arms wrapping around one of her pillows, for comfort. Elaina stared at the white wall in front of her. Her body was still sensitive from the dream she just had, and it wasn't the knowledge of who had played an avid roll in her dream that bothered her, but the knowledge that it was too late to do anything about it.

Reaching up, Elaina fingered the necklace around her neck. She had to keep fighting, had to keep going. Because Celtic wouldn't have it any other way.

"Elaina," Lex spoke as she opened the bathroom door and stood in the doorway.

"Y-yes," Elaina responded softly, her voice trembling. She hoped the other woman hadn't heard her while she was in the bathroom, as it would be hard to explain this to her friend.

"The showers free."

"Okay," Elaina called and reluctantly sat up in her bed. She wasn't sure how long she had been asleep for but from the ache in her head and the way her eyes felt swollen, she didn't think it was long enough.

Elaina stood and her eyes dropped to her clothes that had seen better days. After what she had been through back in Gunnison, she was surprised she made it out alive. It had made the trip in the pyramids seem like a picnic as she recalled the battle on the roof of the hospital. There was no way any of them could have survived that blast.

Elaina swallowed the lump forming in her throat and instead of dwelling on the past she left the room to head for the shower. They wouldn't be able to stay long as they needed to stay ahead of the multibillion-dollar company her father once owned. She had something they wanted, and they were not about to let her get away with it. Not even her father's name could save her from these people.

"You okay Elli," Lex asked her, before Elaina could pass her and slip quietly into the bathroom.

Elaina didn't look at the other woman as she stood in the doorway. "Y-yea," she said and straightened her spine, hating that her voice trembled when she spoke. She slipped into the bathroom then and shut the door behind her. "I have to be." She leaned against the door and taking the item she wouldn't leave out of her sight, stared at the mask in her shaking hands.

Behind the expressionless mask, Elaina could imagine Ci'tde's face as he stared down at her. He had done everything he could to make sure she made it out alive. Too bad he hadn't done the same for himself. Now Ci'tde, Warkha and Skl're were dead. Elaina felt the familiar ache behind her eyes and the wave of emotions she felt inside, had her sliding down the length of the door. She curled up into a ball on the bathroom floor as her tears finally got the best of her.

The End…. For now...
