Dolphin Rescue

Glazed and unfocused eyes followed the seasonal falling of leaves, watching but unobserving in nature.

She felt stuck, stuck in a time foreign to her heart and mind.

"..gome.."

A sigh escaped, shoulders deflating in defeat.

It's been so long.

"Ka...me..."

Long lashes fluttered as a gentle breeze chilled the air.

Could she ever move on?

"Kagome...Kagome."

Did she even want to?

A firm hand fell onto a slumped shoulder, squeezing the slightest.

Slowly the shroud covering her eyes cleared and Kagome was able to see the blurred form of Haru beside her.

"Haru-kun?" She questioned faintly before blinking rapidly, a wavering smile emerging, "Good morning..."

Haruka Nanase looked down at the teenage girl with his signature flat expression before pulling away, straightening up as he leaned away.

Her lips trembled the slightest.

His own thinned in response.

"You have that weird look on your face again."

"Eh," Kagome blanched, "That's just my face, Haru-kun."

"...Hm."

"Just because you haven't seen it in a while, doesn't make it weird," She teased, standing up to joint him, nearly groaning as her bones creaked. How long had she been sitting there?

"At least it's a pretty face, right?"

"..."

Kagome sputtered as the silent boy turned and walked back into his house.

"What! Haru-kun!"

She sprinted after the tall boy, jumping onto his unassuming back with renewed vigor.

"Haru-kun! Answer me right now!" She demanded playfully.

"No, now get off," Haru stumbled, struggling to regain balance, "You're heavy."

A loud but lighter laughter filled the quiet Nanase residence.
