Luther doesn't belong to me.

Choosing Her

Luther looked at Tom Marwood in dismay. He couldn't believe this was happening. Not only had Marwood killed Justin in cold-blood, now he wanted to shoot Alice... and Mary.

The worst of it though was that Marwood wanted him to choose. Mary or Alice. Luther couldn't remember a worse moment in his life - this was worse than when Zoe had left him, than when Justin had been killed, really it was even becoming worse than when Zoe had been killed.

He couldn't choose.

He couldn't choose because he knew exactly what that meant. Choosing one of them meant losing the other, it probably meant losing both of them.

So he couldn't choose.

Unless you make the right choice, an unbidden voice told him, then you won't lose anyone. Luther shook his head as if to clear it. Come on John, the voice said, you can do this. You can make the right choice.

"Alice," he heard himself say.

"What did you say?" Marwood asked.

"Shoot Alice," Luther replied. "Alice."

"That was clever, the choice you made," Alice said to him, smiling.

Luther could only shake his had in silence. He had chosen Alice over Mary. He had no idea what he was getting into or what they where to do or even where they were going but he knew for sure that he wouldn't bored even for a moment and he was even surer then he'd been in a long time that he was exactly where he wanted to be.
