A Warriors Fanfic

A/N: I want it noted that I have never read past Omen of the Stars' 'The Fourth Apprentice'. However, I looked it up on the Warrior's Wikipedia, and read that Firestar dies at the end of The Last Hope, so I'm going to pace myself so I don't have to read about that beautiful cat's death. He will always be my favorite. Anyway, what I wanted to say was that it bothers me that Brackenfur doesn't give much notice outside of when he just became a warrior that it was Fireheart who truly mentored him, not Graystripe. And, there were no Firestar & Brackenfur fics, which I had to remedy. Thus, you get this blurb, which literally took me twenty minutes to write. Not my best fic, but it'll do for now. First Warriors fic, some more on the way!
There aren't enough Warriors angst fics on this site. I'm going to fix that, I swear it by StarClan.

Summary: Graystripe may have officially been Brackenfur's mentor, but it was Firestar who had trained him to be a warrior, in the end, and Brackenfur would never forget that.

Disclaimer: I don't own Warriors, even though I'm working my tail off to get all of the books!

I know that I, and most everyone else, granted my training to Graystripe, because Graystripe was my mentor according to Bluestar, back in the forest.

But it was you who taught me to be the strong warrior that I am today, really. It was you, and not Graystripe, who took on the burden of training my sister Cinderpelt and I, even though I was not your apprentice. And now I know that this was not your only burden. Your were also keeping Graystripe's secret, keeping an eye on Tigerstar, and doing what you could for your Clan. I look up to you like I do no other, Firestar, more than because you are my leader. No, you were my friend, my mentor, and my comforter when Cinderpelt was hit by that monster, ensuring that she would never be a warrior with me.

More than the stinging realization that I may never have seen Graystripe again when the Twolegs took him, this hurts. Bending over your broken body, with the battle finally over, knowing that I will never see you again, not until I join StarClan, it all hurts. Not even Sorreltail can say anything to fix this. Nothing that anyone says will help.

I never really got the chance to say thank you, Firestar, so I pledge my thanks to you now, more than to any cat in StarClan. Thank you for raising me to be the cat that I am. Thank you for being my mentor, my deputy, my leader. Thank you for being there, when not even Graystripe was.

Thank you.

"ThunderClan will never forget you, Firestar. You truly were the best leader that ThunderClan ever had."
