A/N: I have always enjoyed the idea of this being the way Inigo's love for dancing ultimately begins, so I hope all of you enjoy reading it as much I enjoyed writing it. Anyways, let me know what you think. :)

Fire Emblem (c) Intelligent Systems

Anamnesis

It had been a humid, summer night lit by the smiling crescent moon and the dancing arrangement of lightning bugs at the time Inigo first danced with his mother, Olivia.

Inigo's thoughts were drifting elsewhere to the ideas of counting sheep and lying on a fluffy cloud, all the while, his father has disappeared and his mother is still faithfully seated by his side enjoying the night. He almost gives into his wishful thinking when he hears a soft humming come from right beside him – it is similar tone as Olivia has hummed it once before while dancing for Inigo and his father.

At the loss of warmth at Inigo's side, he opens his eyes and looks at the sight of his mother dancing in slow motion under the cool kiss of the moonlight on her pale skin. It is an entrancing sight, Inigo thinks as his mouth goes slightly ajar and his hazy eyes begin to sparkle in admiration.

"Mama…?" Inigo whispers with no intention of said person hearing.

"Hmm?" Olivia pauses and looks over at her son and smiles. "What is it, Inigo?"

"You're great…" He mumbles and looks away bashfully.

A small laugh emits from Olivia then and she watches her son in amusement as she remembers her own similar bashfulness in her youth before she insists, "Come here."

Looking at his mother with a glimmer of hope, he jumps to his feet and races over to his mother in anticipation. Once there, Inigo smiled shyly up at his mother as she lifted him up slightly so he is situated on her feet. He looks down at their feet then and feels his face heat up in embarrassment.

"Do you know the tune I was humming?" Olivia asks in a low tone so as not to disturb the louder, more harmonious song of the crickets and frogs. Once Inigo nods once swiftly, Olivia smiles and begins moving her feet and holding her son's hands in the slow turning of the dance. Taking it as his cue, Inigo clears his throat and takes a long, drawn out breath before humming the tune Olivia previously was.

This intimacy continues for what seems to be hours to Inigo until his youth finally gives in and he finds himself asleep in his mother's arm. It is only later, when he wakes up in his own bed, that Inigo stares at his ceiling and finally realizes something: he not only loves when his mother dances, but he also finds himself wanting to become a dancer too. With a faint blush, Inigo covers his face with his hands and feels a small smile spread on his lips at the realization.
