~Dancing With The Devil~
Chapter Five and A Half: A Torn Father
Disclaimer: I do not own Soul Eater or any of it's characters.
Spirit POV
My heart was still beating quickly, my hands were shaking and my breath was short. I have never been so over come with emotion in my life; except maybe during Maka's birth. For the first time in almost ten years, Maka hugged me! She cried, and although her fear and distress broke my heart, she said she needed me! She begged me to stay! I could have danced when she asked me reside with her for the evening!
The angel was sleeping soundly in her bed, I made sure to secure the windows and check her room for any sign of monsters. It was a father's duty after all. Once I was positive that all was well, I made my way to her livingroom and prepared the couch for the night.
"Oh Maka, if you let me, I would stay by your side for the rest of my life!" I sighed deeply and drifted off into one of my vivid daydreams. I could see it now, Maka coming home with some groceries in her long, powder pink princess dress, happy to have her her father by her side. In this dream, she knew what I was, and accepted it proudly.
"Oh Papa! You must have had a hard day! I can't believe you are willing to risk your life every day just to assure my safety!" she would say in that sugary sweet voice of hers, walking elegantly into the kitchen of a large house we had recently moved into, "Why don't you let me make you something to eat? It's the least I can do for such a gallant warrior of the night!"
I am seated at our large kitchen table, reading the day's newspaper and smoking a fatherly pipe."Now, now my dear," I would coo back, beaming proudly at the wonderful young woman that my Maka had become, "You have been working just as hard! Straight 'A's in school is hardly a walk in the park! And fetching all those groceries by yourself! You must me postively exhausted. Why don't you rest that pretty little head of yours while I prepare our meal!" I would take the heavy bags from her arms and place them on the counter top. She would smile wide and bright, it was truely a smile made just for me. Her lovely green eyes met mine and I match her grin with one of my own before I turn and start unpacking the bags.
I would feel her tiny arms wrap around me from behind and I would gladly melt into her embrace, "How did I ever get so lucky to be fathered by a man so wonderful?" her sweet voice laced with tears of gratitude.
I turn to stare at the beautiful face of my favourite girl, "No, my perfect little princess! I am the lucky one! I have truly been blessed with an angel from heaven!" I bend down and scoop her fragile frame into my arms, placing all of my emotions and love for her into an intense hug.
"I love you, Papa!" she cried into my shoulder, "I don't need anyone else in my life, so long as I have you!"
Tears form in my eyes, but I stay strong. I must show my daughter that real men don't cry. "You will never need another person, so long as I am here with you, pumpkin!" I stand by my words. I will never let my little girl be touched by any other man. Just as I reach down to place a kiss upon my spawn's head, I am startled awake.
Slightly peeved from the interruption, I leer down at my cell phone and notice that I have received a text back from the reaper of the Northern continent. Finally. I have only been waiting hours for his response.
'I have a reaper willing to show you the city. He will be meeting you at your requested building by midnight.' Shit. I forgot that I had agreed to meet with his men tonight, I hadn't been expecting things to change so suddenly. My thoughts drift back to Maka. What would she think if she woke from her slumber and I wasn't here as I had promised?
I had given her some heavy sleeping pills, hoping that they would knock her into a dreamless hibernation. Her fear surely would have kept her awake all night, had I not drugged her. 'The pills would keep her out cold for the rest of the night,' I told myself calmly, glancing back towards her bedroom door. But what if someone came for her in the night? Would my seals last if someone stronger tried to break through them? Doubt fogged my mind and it was a while before I noticed another unopened message was blinking up at me.
'Your partner will be a young, white haired male with red eyes- code name: Soul Eater.'
Fuck. My desire to meet with this reaper now plummeted, I didn't work well with younger males. They were cocky, self rightous little pricks, and no matter how many times I tried to think differently, they always proved to be just as I thought they would be. However, the events of this afternoon made things far more dire than I had imagined, I needed help to catch and kill my targets before they succeeded in their plot. I rubbed my temples and placed my cell down.
Standing to my feet, I started striding through the apartment, casing a fevered glance towards my girl's room. Finally, my attention was grabbed by a small, black book that stood out from the rest on her large bookshelf. I reached out and removed the thin text from it's home, shooting yet another look towards her bedroom; this time to check if the coast was clear.
The book was bound in thin leather, gold lettering spelt out the title 'In Great Desparation' and the name of the author made my heart skip a beat; Maka Alburn. I quickly took a seat on the couch and opened the first page, my anticipation growing with every second. Certainly this book was exquisatly written, so why haven't I ever heard Maka talk about it? My excitement dampened a touch as I thought of a reason for her silence. Maybe it was about him, maybe she was revealing deep dark secrets about her life as a reaper's daughter...
"That can't be the reason! Maka would never blab my secrets so openly!" I cried in the heat of the moment, quickly slapped a hand to my lips. For the upteenth time that night, I looked behind the sofa, then back to the book in my free hand. I breathed deep for a moment and cleared my frazzled mind. 'Maka doesn't know anything,' I internally scolded, 'And even if I did tell her, I doubt she would believe me.' I flipped through the pages, yet another thought appeared in my mind, 'What if she doesn't think I would understand it? She is really advanced for her age...'
A smirk spread wide and I welcomed the new realization with open arms, that would definitely explain things! I flipped to a random page in the book and began to read, I was determined to understand at least some of the story, even if I had to look words up as I went along. I stopped on page 113, a word caught my eye and I was certain that I had misread it. However, upon further inspection, it was indeed the word that I had feared worst- Shaft. I started to read from the top of the page, my complexion getting paler as the story continued.
'...shining with a thin layer of sweat. She pressed her volumpuous breasts against his bare, chiselled back, hoping that her actions would re-enforce her earlier declarations. Her arms wrapped under his well toned shoulders and she crossed his chest.
"Please, Gray! Understand that I am not willing to give this to any other man!" Her voice was far weaker than she hoped, blaitenly showcasing her desparation, "Only you have held my heart! I never loved him! He had overpowered me, if you had not stopped him..." I shuddered just thinking about it. Never in my life did I ever want to relive that moment.
He must have felt her chills, for he had turned around and wrapped his arms around her. "I believe you, Lucy." Their eyes met for the first time in weeks, and all from that moment on, she knew that the issue was no more. Before she could say another word, his lips crashed down upon hers; she could taste the settle tang of oranges and something sweet. His tongue ran smoothly across her bottom lip, as if gently begging for entrance and she was more than willing to obligue his plea.
He dove deep into her mouth and moaned his pleasure as his hands explored her curves more thoroughly. Every touch set her body ablaze, although his hands were cold, she could feel her skin react as if he was nothing but the hottest fire. She wanted more, her body craved his and she needed to ensure that he was aware of her true desires.
Her left hand swept up his deliciously robust chest and grabbed a fist full of his thick, raven hair. She pulled his head closer, intensifying the already ravonous hunger they were feeling. Her other hand ventured down towards his rapidly growing shaft...'
I slammed the book closed and hurried to replace it back on the shelf. My head was spinning and swirling with thoughts of disbelief. My Maka- my little princess- had written an erotic fiction. Or was it a fiction? The detail written on those pages was too well done for it it just be her imagination...
I couldn't think about this anymore, I ran to the kitchen and thrust open the fridge, hoping to find beer or alcohol of any kind- but ofcourse, she was still underage. I grabbed my cell and checked the time. I decided then and there that I needed to take my thoughts off of what I just read, so I gathered my wallet and spare keys and rushed out the door.
For the first time in my life, I was glad to put a little distance between myself and Maka.
Hiya folks!
This really doesn't have anything to do with the story, I just thought it would be nice if I added a quick little funny chapter inbetween my updates! Hope this will keep you happy until the next time! I know this is really OOC, but I thought 'Meh, whatever!'
Let me know if you liked my little side story by leaving a comment, question or suggestion in the box below!
Ps- incase anyone was wondering, the couple in Maka's story was inspired by Lucy Heartfilia and Gray Fullbuster from 'Fairy Tail'. Just incase you wanted a visual of what they looked like!
