January 8, 2015; eight months after Isabella's birth (and the end of "Our Summer")

(If you wanna have more feels, listen to "Over You" by Cassadee Pope or "Only Time" by Enya or something ;D)

"Ziva?" Tony asked as he walked into the kitchen that morning.

He was carrying Isabella who still looked rather sleepy and was for once not babbling non-stop. Ziva smiled brightly as she saw her husband and daughter walk in.

"Yes?" she questioned, placing two plates on the table.

She walked over to take Isabella from Tony and gently sat her down in her playpen. When she turned back around she was surprised by the serious look on Tony's face. She took a step closer to him and his arms immediately went around her waist.

"I'm sorry," he whispered.

She was confused for a second but then it dawned on her. To be honest, she had almost forgotten about what today was. She didn't like to think about it and it wasn't like she talked about it a lot. And maybe, she had just wanted to forget about it for a moment. She sighed.

"Tony..," she started but he wouldn't let her finish.

"We are going to the synagogue today whether you like it or not," he said firmly.

She nodded. There was no point in arguing with him. She had tried that last year, bringing up the argument that she was pregnant and couldn't go anywhere but he'd just chuckled and then told her that was even the more reason to go "talk" to her father.

"I want to take Isabella along," Ziva said eventually.

"Ziva, do you think that's..," he started but she cut him off.

"It is what, Tony? A bad idea?"

"That's not what I said."

"Well, it sure sounded like it. Are you saying Isabella should not know who her grandfather was?"

"Ziva.."

"No, Tony. I know you hated him but he was still my father! Isabella deserves to know about her grandfather."

"I didn't say she shouldn't know about Eli, Ziva. Of course I want her to know about her grandfather. And I would have loved for her to meet him as well."

"Then what is the problem?" Her voice was much softer now.

"I just thought that maybe, um..it might be too much for you."

She sighed and wrapped her arms around his neck, bringing him closer to her. She smiled at him softly.

"You do not need to worry about me. I will be fine if you are by my side," she told him quietly.

He smiled back at her. That damn smile that made her knees weak and her heart flutter. The smile that always, always ruined her.

"Okay," he whispered before capturing her lips in a soft kiss.

Ziva walked to the front row in the synagogue immediately. Tony had promised to take Isabella for a moment, so Ziva could speak her prayer. After that they would honor her father together. Tony had actually started to warm up to Jewish traditions. He had – after all – agreed to celebrate Hanukkah with them. And it made her love him even more.

Ziva knelt down and folded her hands. She could already feel the tears pooling in her eyes, only thinking about it. Two years ago today she had lost her father.

"Abba, I wish you could be here right now. To see Isabella, your beautiful granddaughter. And I wish you could see how happy Tony makes me. I know you did not like him at first but when you came here for the last time, you seemed to like him. You knew he made me happy even back then. I am sorry you missed our wedding, too. I wish you could have been there. Even though we had problems, I knew you loved me..your way. Rest in peace, Abba. And say Shalom to Tali and mom and even Ari," Ziva whispered.

Then she raised her head and looked straight ahead.

"You sent me my sign. I am very thankful to have found a family now. Tony was my sign. I knew that immediately. And Isabella made everything even better. I knew I could trust you. You took a lot from me but you also gave me something in return. I think I now understand. Take care of them," she whispered, tears now escaping her eyes.

She stood up with shaking legs and Tony immediately approached her. Isabella was resting on his hip peacefully, not making a sound. His free arm wrapped around Ziva's waist and he pulled her close to him. Wordlessly he kissed the top of her head and they just stood there for a while, both lost in their thoughts.

"Are you okay?" Tony asked after what felt like an eternity.

Ziva nodded and quickly wiped away her tears. No matter how young Isabella was, she didn't want her to see her cry. She didn't want her to think that something was wrong.

"As okay as I can be," she told him honestly.

He nodded but didn't say anything else. Maybe it was better that way.

Ziva leaned over and touched Isabella's cheek lovingly. The little girl smiled at her mother and Ziva couldn't help but smile back. Somehow, Isabella had the ability to make people smile even when they were completely down.

"Isabella, you will probably not understand this until you are a little older, but we are here today to honor your grandfather, my father. He died before you were born but I am sure he loves you very much. He is watching you from heaven," Ziva told Isabella softly.

Tony smiled at the interaction between Isabella and Ziva. Their daughter was looking at her with wide eyes and somehow she looked like she was absolutely understanding every word.

"Your grandfather was a good man, Isabella. He was from Israel, just like your mom. But he would have come here many times if he was still alive. Your mom is right, he loves you very much. I'm sure of it. And he is watching you, sweetie," Tony added.

He and Ziva exchanged a smile. Yeah, it had been a good idea to bring Isabella along today.

"You know what he would tell you, Isabella?" Tony asked the little girl.

Isabella stared at him with wide eyes and sucked on her pacifier faster than before.

"At lo levad," Tony whispered into Isabella's ear.

Ziva's breath caught in her throat upon hearing Tony say those words. The exact same words he had said to her two years ago. The words which had caused her to almost break apart that night at the airport. She suddenly hadn't been so sure about not taking Tony along to the funeral. She had felt as if her life depended on him, as if she was only safe when she was in his arms.

Without a second of hesitation, Ziva brought her lips to Tony's and kissed him almost desperately. He kissed back and she could literally feel all of his love poured into that one kiss. God, was she lucky to have him by her side today. And not just today. Always.

"You are not alone," Ziva translated for Isabella once Tony broke their kiss.

Tony kissed Ziva on the forehead. "You still aren't, you know. You'll never be."

And just like two years ago, she smiled at him with tears pooling in her eyes. "I know."
