Boy has it been a while since I've thrown down a snippet here in this box. Like over a year. And after the premier of Supergirl, this one was only inevitable.

Companion:
Harry Potter sunk down to his knees after a long and exhausting day of chores. He had been worked hard by his guardians, the Dursleys. They were his family, at least so Harry had been told. The lack of resemblance to them made Harry wonder. They legally were his guardians at any rate.

He wondered if they would actually let him in to have lunch. Might have been dinner at this rate, but Harry didn't really know.

A loud whooshing sound caused Harry's head to whip back in confusion. Something flew through the sky, and crashed through Mr. Number Six's fence and crashed to the ground right at Harry's feet. It started to smoke.

'Great, bloody wonderful.'

Harry hoped to any higher power who would listen the Dursleys didn't hear something flying through the air and crashing through the fence. The grass had been completely burned up when the device hit the ground.

The device resembled a black box of some type. Harry walked forward to tap his finger onto the box. Despite it scorching the grass, it felt rather cool to the touch.

Harry scooped up the box in his hand. Curiosity had gotten the better of him. He waited for the other shoe to drop, and the Dursleys to run out.

The other shoe didn't drop. Could Harry be lucky enough to escape blame? Likely merely delay it, but Harry wasn't about ready to look a gift horse in the mouth.

Harry pressed his hand on the box one more time, it started to react to his touch. It blinked.

"Hello?" Harry asked.

"Greetings," the box said in a soft, feminine voice. "Who is this speaking?"

"My name is Harry," Harry said, a bit uncertain if he should be talking to a mysterious black box which crashed into the middle of his garden.

"Hello, Harry, my designation is the BrainInteractive Construct Eight Point Zero," she said.

Harry took this all in about as well as one could escape.

"That's a lot to say," Harry said.

"It can be a bit of a mouthful as organics say," she said.

"Where did you come from?" Harry asked.

"I've come from the Kryptonian city known as Kandor," she said.

Harry blinked, he didn't know what she was talking about. This was all like an entirely foreign language to him.

"My sensors indicated I have crashed from the third planet from the sun in the third quadrant of Sector 2814," Indigo continued. "Or Earth, as it has been designated."

"Um, you're on Earth," Harry said. "But, I don't know….."

"My creator has said humans are primitive, but full of promise," Indigo said. "They are also at a crossroads where the next century could lead them to a promising new age, or their extinction."

Harry allowed all of the information to get in.

"Your processors haven't been fine-tuned, have they?" Indigo asked. "You have not been educated on matters regarding the wider universe."

"No….well I know the solar system, are you saying there's more planets out there than just the nine in this galaxy?" Harry asked.

"Yes, Harry, countless more," Indigo said, sounding about as amused as a computerized voice would be.

"BOY!"

Harry tensed up for a second. He knew the good times wouldn't last to be honest. His uncle thundered towards his hiding spot, doing a pretty good impression.

"My uncle's going to kill me for the fence being broken and the lawn being burned," Harry said.

"If you're in danger of an assassination, then perhaps it would be prudent for you to depart the premises immediately," Indigo said.

"Can you do that?" Harry asked.

"I'm fully equipped with teleportation capabilities," Indigo said. "Where do you wish to go?"

Harry had been thrown off by anyone offering to help him, at all. He didn't know how to react because it never happened before.

"A safe place…anywhere but here, I don't care, I don't want to be here," Harry said.

"So, this isn't your home?" Indigo inquired.

Vernon was almost there, and when he did, Harry would be in so much trouble for the property damage.

"No, this isn't my home!"

Harry would have liked to live to see his eleventh birthday if at all possible. An energy bubble surrounded him from the black box.

An energy deep within Harry started to build as well. The moment Harry denounced Number Four Privet Drive as his home, a rush of energy caused Harry to feel lighter than air.

Vernon almost caught up to Harry, but the moment he tried to grab him something deep inside the boy sensed Vernon as a threat. An energy pulse caused him to fly up into the air. Vernon lit up like a Christmas tree and destroyed more of the fence Indigo's pod destroyed. His body laid a broken and battered mess, his leg twitching.

"VERNON!"

Albus Dumbledore prepared for another year at Hogwarts. He thought about retirement, because he wasn't getting any younger. He decided to stick at least the next seven years through, to see Harry's development through.

Dumbledore turned his eyes to one of the devices which monitored the magic at Number Four Drive. The protections Lily caused created a shield which protected all of the inhabitants of the household. Dumbledore only had a general understanding of the magic, and without knowing exactly what Lily did, he could only guess.

Given his guesses often tended to be spot on, with over a hundred years of magical knowledge at his disposal, Dumbledore pushed forward with using the protection charms to fuel protection fields around Number Four Privet Drive.

The trinket started to spray spoke around him. Dumbledore didn't expect it to do this. The trinket was white when Harry was healthy. Red when he was in danger. If the trinket turned black, then Dumbledore would have a horrific burden to carry for the rest of his days.

"I've never seen….it must be some kind of fluctuation of magical energy," Dumbledore said, stroking his beard thoughtfully.

He tried to think of any strange magical phenomenon's which would happen today, but none came to mind. The trinket continued to spoke until it stopped and turned green.

"Green, the enchantments must be faulty," Dumbledore said, tapping his wand on the trinket. "Curious."

Dumbledore verified three times the enchantments were in place. He tried resetting the trinket. After the five minute wait period, it started to smoke again and turn green.

The Hogwarts Headmaster figured a visit of Number Four Privet Drive was in order. He reached over to pick up his traveling cloak.

Dumbledore stopped, a warm and cheerful feeling spread over him. He wondered why he even thought of going out for a walk.

He decided to fix himself a cup of tea, oblivious to Lily Potter's charm finally activating to its full potential. Dumbledore hummed a jaunty tune, unaware of what occurred.

Harry sensed some differences in himself the moment he left the Dursleys. The young man took off his glasses, and smiled, his vision returned to almost picture perfect clarity. He shot up a few inches in height.

"I've never encountered any of the strange energies you're emitting," Indigo said. "But, I have detected a most concerning quality of the scar on your forehead."

"What?" Harry asked.

"You are possessed by a weakened wraith, a shade, who has been stripped of his body," Indigo said. "It's a common procedure to strip war criminals of their bodies on other planets and send their spirits to the Phantom Zone where they will linger for all eternity."

"Phantom Zone?" Harry asked.

"The Phantom Zone is the largest prison in the universe, a home to exiled war criminals in twenty eight galaxies," Indigo explained. "It was re-discovered during Krypton's last age by a scientist named Jor-El."

Harry's skin crawled at the thought of a dangerous prisoner taking up residence in his scar. And to think, he thought this scar was a good thing. If Indigo was right, it couldn't be further from the truth.

"So, are one of these Phantom Zone wraiths possessing me?" Harry asked.

"It's not anything from the Phantom Zone," Indigo said. "Without sufficient data, I cannot even begin to determine the nature of your problem or how to correct it."

Harry figured it would not be as easy as a cut and dry answer.

"I will assist you in finding the answers, and allowing you to unlock your full potential," Indigo said.

So there was something different about him. It explained a lot about some of the extraordinary things which happened around him. The most recent event having been Harry talking to a Brazilian Boa Constrictor and accidentally on purpose sending it at his cousin for pushing him to the ground.

"Where are we?" Harry asked.

"You inquired about me sending you to a safe place," Indigo said. "I hope it's to your liking."

Harry looked around and found he was in a backyard. Someone else's backyard, Indigo transported him into the backyard of a complete stranger, and Harry didn't know where he was.

'Reckon I should be grateful for being anywhere but at the Dursleys.'

Harry tensed up for a moment and saw a pair of blue eyes staring at him from the other side of the bushes.

"Indigo, where did you send me?" Harry asked.

"I calculated an algorithm to send you to the safest place on Earth," Indigo said.

So many questions entered Harry's mind. Why some random backyard?

"Hey, are you lost?"

Harry looked forward, and saw a blue-eyed, blonde girl step from the bushes. She looked to be close to Harry's age.

"Did you hear me?" she asked.

Harry tried to figure out a way to explain this without making himself sound like a complete and utter mental case.

"Yes….I mean….I didn't mean…to go in your backyard…this is your backyard, isn't it?" Harry asked.

"I guess….well I live here now….I was came from….Kan…Kansas, I came from Kansas," she said, almost tripping over her words. "But….I live here now….with my adoptive parents."

Harry couldn't say anything.

"How, did you get here?" she asked.

"It was an accident," Harry said.

"You accidentally walked into my backyard?" she asked.

"I didn't walk….it's….never mind."

"What?" she asked.

"It's stupid," Harry said. "I wanted….I wanted to get away from my Uncle Vernon….he gets really mad at me for everything…its worse when he drinks…and he puts me in a cupboard underneath the stairs."

The girl frowned. She didn't want to judge, but something about living in a cupboard seems wrong. The fury in this boy's voice when he talked about his uncle, she didn't need any super powered senses to pick up on the fact they didn't get along.

Such crimes on her world would be punishable by the law.

"Where do you live?" she asked.

"I don't….I don't really live anywhere now," Harry said.

"Oh," she said, of course he didn't. He ran away from home. Her expression brightened up when she had a brilliant idea hit her. "Well….maybe you can…stay here for a while?"

"Why…won't they….won't your parents ask questions?" Harry asked.

"Not if I keep you up in my room, and make no one sees you," she said. "I'll put you…"

She almost said she would keep Harry hidden in her closet. She just barely caught herself before she said it and brought back bad memories.

"I don't want you to get into any trouble," Harry said.

"Well, you can't go back…just a couple of nights," she said.

"I don't know…"

"It won't be…."

"Why would you want to help some boy you barely even know?" Harry asked.

Harry sounded a bit shorter than he intended to be. She looked at him for a long time, fully expecting her to lash back at him.

"Sometimes it just feels right to help people," she said. "You've…no one has ever helped you before, have they?"

Harry frowned.

"Not often."

She grabbed his hand. Sparks flew between their fingers for a second, which caught her off guard.

"My name is Kara….Kara Danvers," she said.

"I'm Harry Potter," Harry said.

"Kara, what are you doing?"

Kara's face spread into the most obvious "oh crap" expression in the world. She pushed Harry behind a chair and out of sight. She stepped forward to further obscure Harry.

"Hey, Alex," Kara said.

Harry observed another girl, a couple of years old, with brunette hair. She looked at Kara for a few seconds.

"What are you up to?" Alex asked.

"I was just going for a walk," Kara said, shuffling her hands behind her.

"Kara, you really shouldn't use your powers," Alex said.

"I haven't been using my powers for anything…not after the last time," Kara said.

"Kara, listen, I know it's tough…but you know, Mom and Dad have your best intentions in mind, don't you?" Alex asked.

"Yeah," Kara said, not liking it at all.

Alex thought she heard something shift a tiny bit in the shadows. She made her way over to investigate.

"Kara, what's that?" Alex asked.

"What's what?" Kara asked.

Kara tried to block her adoptive sister from intervening, but she had been pushed out of the way.

"Kara, what did…"

Alexandra Danvers stopped speechless for about twelve seconds when she came face to face with a young boy. She looked from the boy to Kara in horror.

"His name is Harry, he ran away from home, to get away from his uncle, who….who locked him in a cupboard underneath the stairs," Kara said.

Alex took a long moment to process this information. Kara grew rather sour at her sister's expression.

"You think I'm lying to you, don't you?" Kara asked.

"I don't know…if he ran away…" Alex said. The teenage girl sank down on the chair and looked rather flustered by what she found out.

She couldn't even fathom a circumstance which would bring her from running away from home. She couldn't fathom a circumstance where any family member would have their own flesh and blood.

"Um, Alex, isn't it?"

She nodded in confirmation to him.

"It was an accident I was here…..I'm sorry….."

"She's telling the truth about you, isn't she?" Alex asked. Harry's reluctant nod caused her to deflate. "We need to talk to someone about this…."

"It won't do any good," Harry said.

"It has to do some good….someone can help you," Kara said.

"I've went to people before, they've done nothing," Harry said.

Harry contributed to a rather uncomfortable atmosphere, or so he thought so. Both of the Danvers sisters looked at him with the pitying expression he hated.

Alex walked over to him and much to his surprise, wrapped her arms around him with a hug. Harry flinched for a few seconds, but then relaxed. The same sparks which appeared between him and Kara manifested briefly between the two of them as well.

"Sorry, it looked like you needed one," Alex said, pulling away from Harry. "Mom will know what to do."

"Are you sure we should tell Eliza about this?" Kara asked.

"Were you thinking about keeping him hidden underneath your bed?" Alex asked.

"No, Alex, don't be silly," Kara said.

Harry finally sat down on one of the chairs next to Alex. He was fully resigned to the fact he would be back home sooner rather than later, and be in a worse position than ever before.

Kara's eyes fixated on the black box in Harry's hand. She didn't notice it until now having been preoccupied with Harry.

"Harry, where did you find this?" Kara asked, who voice rising in alarm.

"What is it?" Alex asked, curiosity getting the better of her.

"Oh, this is…this is what brought me here," Harry said. "I found it in my back garden."

"Oh, no, you didn't find it, it found you," Kara said, her tone rising even further. She took a moment to calm down "But why….."

"Do not be alarmed, Kara, I mean you no harm," Indigo said.

Alex's mouth hung open in surprise. She didn't know whether this was really cool or really unsettling this thing just talked.

"Perhaps if I take a form which will be more comfortable to you."

The box dissolved in Harry's hands and the nanobots reconstructed itself into a young girl with purple hair and strikingly violet eyes. She wore a black tank top and skirt which flowed down past her ankles. The most exotic part of her was the blue skin.

"The skin color is the most difficult part," she said, closing her eyes and shifting the skin to a skin tone which matched Kara.

In fact, Indigo looked like Kara's twin in facial structure, even though her hair and eye color was different.

"I believe I have some explaining to do."

The door opened up, and Kara and Alex sat on edge waiting to face the most formidable force both knew on Earth. Indigo wasn't the only one who had some explaining to do.

End Snippet.
