Annabeth was weak. Percy was weak. They had just come from hell, literally. Down in the depths of Tartarus, they had experienced things no demi-god should ever experience. They had been beaten, injured and drained down there. They had slowly lost their mind, Tartarus had played tricks on their minds. Anytime they thought they had reached the Doors of Death, Tartarus would move it somewhere else. They had seen images of their loved ones being tortured. It drove them insane.

They felt lost. They felt helpless. But they had each other.

Percy and Annabeth had finally reached the Doors. They were greeted by the remaining members of the Seven and Nico. They felt a little joy in their hearts. It was spark deep inside them and it was enough to keep them going. They knew that whenever they flashbacked or needed help, the other would be there for them.

They were back on the Argo II. They were trying to sleep. Fear rattled their bodies. They were afraid of seeing Tartarus again.

Percy didn't want to see Annabeth close to death. He didn't want to see her being tortured whilst he knew he couldn't save her.

Annabeth didn't want to see Percy there again. She didn't want to see his normally bright green eyes turn dark, like all life had left him.

Screams erupted from her body. Percy was jolted awake by her screams of terror. He needed to help her. He needed to be there for her, to calm her.

'Annabeth, it's okay, we're safe. I'm here. We're safe. I love you, Wise Girl.' Percy whispered, repeating it in her ear, trying to get her to calm. It took a long time. Eventually she woke up, drenched in sweat, tears rolling down her cheeks. The only thing Percy could do now was hold her tight and keep her in his lap. He was afraid for her. She was normally so strong. She didn't let him see her so weak.

Tartarus had changed her. She was locked in on herself. She didn't let Percy in. Any sudden movements set her off in a flashback. She would scream with her hands covering her ears, tears streaming down her face. He felt so helpless. His Wise Girl was in pain and he didn't know what to do. He needed help. He needed a mother's help.
