Jeremiah Axel
Rose and Alice forgot the game and rushed at a human pace to my side. Rosalie gripped my arm to keep my standing because my legs were wobbling.
"Edward wants to know if you've felt any contractions at all today." Alice said.
"No." I said. I looked at him and tried to gauge his reaction to my answer.
"She needs to see Carlisle, now." Alice said, "Take her to the nurse I'll tell Coach Clapp."
Rosalie and I nodded and headed to exit the gym. I looked back at Jasper and his brothers. He was standing quietly while they talked to him.
"Is he alright?" I asked Rosalie. She looked at me and smiled.
"He's nervous," she paused. "Excited, worried. You name it, he's feeling what every new father feels right about now."
We walked at a normal pace, well, Rose walked. I waddled. It was a little uncomfortable because essentially, I had just peed my pants.
"I need different clothes." I told her.
"Alice will bring them from the locker room. The last bell is going to ring in about 15 minutes. I'll stay with you." she said. We walked in the administration building and straight into the Nurse's office.
"Is everything alright?" she stood up quickly.
"Her water broke. I need to call my father." Rose said to her.
"I'll call for an ambulance." The nurse said.
"That won't be necessary. Unless she starts have contractions, I'll take her." She turned to me and handed me the cell phone from the waistband of her shorts. "Call your father, I'll go make sure Dad is ready for you." She floated from the room and the nurse looked at me for an explanation.
"Carlisle Cullen is my OB-GYN." I dialed my dad's number.
"This is Charlie Swan." He said.
"Dad, hey, I'm calling on Rosalie Hale's phone. Mine's in the locker room." I said.
"Jasper's sister?" he asked.
"Yeah, Jasper's sister. Listen, my water just broke. I need you to call Mom and have her get on a plane." I said.
"Where are you? Are you okay? Did the school call an ambulance? I'm leaving work now." That's my dad, I guess. Going into panic survival mode.
"I'm fine. I'm in the Nurse's office. I haven't had any contractions yet, so Rosalie is going to take me when she gets off the phone with Dr. Cullen."
"I'll meet you at the hospital." He hung up.
"Can I get you anything?" The Nurse asked.
"No I'm alright." I said.
"Why don't you lie down? I'm sure Miss Hale will be back shortly." she said. I nodded and laid on my side waiting for someone to tell me what to do next. Rose came back in shortly.
"Dr. Cullen said not to panic and to take our time getting there. How do you feel?" she asked.
"Well, my heart's racing." I said. Just then Alice came in changed and holding mine and Rosalie's clothes.
"Coach Clapp let everyone out a little early, we've been dismissed so let's get out of here." she said. I sat up and let Rose help me up.
"Thanks." I said. I took my jacket from Alice and put it on, I was glad I was wearing sweats because I didn't want to have to change. I wanted to just get to the hospital.
I thanked the nurse and left the room. My legs had stabled and Alice and Rose were still holding on to me.
"Guys, I can walk." I said and they let go. They stayed very close by though. We go to the edge of the parking lot and Jasper had ghosted over to meet us there.
"How are you feeling?" he asked scooping me up bridal style.
"Like I can walk." I said, flatly.
"Put her in the BMW, it has all leather seats." Alice said. Jasper ignored me and walked over to the Rose's red BMW. Emmett opened the car door and Jasper sat me in the passenger seat.
Edward and Alice got into his Volvo and Rosalie threw Jasper her keys from next to Emmet's Jeep. Jasper moved vampire fast to the driver's side and backed out of the parking spot. The school bell rang and I looked back the first few people came streaming out as our little caravan left the parking lot.
"No contractions at all today?" he asked. It's like he was the one who could see the future, because as I was opening my mouth to answer I got the first one. I let out a sound that sounded like a cross between a grunt and Animal from Sesame Street.
"Whitlock, you went and jinxed me." I said.
"Breathe Baby." He said. "I'm sorry. I feel your pain. Literally. You won't be alone in this."
"How long 'til we get there?" I asked.
"Not long." Jasper reached back and flipped off the Jeep behind us.
"Why'd you do that?" I asked him.
"Emmett seems to think it's hilarious I'll be going through labor with you." he said. I turned in my seat as much as I could and showed Emmett both my middle fingers.
Jasper laughed out loud and grabbed my hand as I settled again. He kissed my knuckles.
"That's my girl." He pulled into the hospital and parked the two cars behind us turned the opposite direction and parked. Jasper came and picked me up out of the car and carried me to a wheelchair.
"Where did the other's go?" I asked. It seemed like all I could ask where questions right now.
"They'll be waiting in Carlisle's office for a while I have a feeling Esme will be there too. They'll come visit after. But they'll be here the whole time." He said, wheeling me toward the maternity ward.
"Is Charlie here yet?" I asked.
"He's around the corner. Carlisle is with him." he said.
"Wait! How do I explain you? I told him Rose was bringing me." I asked. "We've only been together for a couple weeks."
"Well that will be one good reason. I won't get to be in there with you unless you tell him you want me there." He said. "I'll be near enough that you can feel me if I'm not in there with you."
I leaned back and smiled up at him. He leaned down and kissed me. We turned the corner and I saw Charlie and Carlisle waiting with a wheelchair. Carlisle turned toward us.
"Here she is." Carlisle said, waving an arm toward us.
"Bells!" he said, kneeling in front of me.
"I'm alright, Dad." I said. He put a hand to my cheek, I grabbed his wrist and leaned into it.
"Have you had any contractions since I spoke with Rosalie?" Carlisle asked.
"Just one." I said.
"About how long ago was that?" he asked. Charlie stood up and shook Jasper's hand. I looked up at Jasper.
"Five-ish minutes ago?"
"Right around six minutes." He said. "We were just about to pull in."
"Alright. While we wait, let's get you into a hospital gown and we'll see just how far we've come." Carlisle said, he replaced Jasper behind me. "Jasper, would you take this over to the nurse's station?"
"Yes, sir." He said. Charlie followed Carlisle and down to the room Carlisle and Charlie had set up for me.
"As I was explaining to your father earlier, Isabella, you're three weeks early but you're full term and this is quite normal for someone your age and size. I'll know a little more when I can take a look at your cervix." He said.
"Oh alright." I said.
"I called your mother. She's getting on the first plane out." Charlie's phone started ringing.
"That'll be her." he said. "I'll take this while you," he paused. "Do your thing."
Carlisle wheeled me in and helped me move from the chair to the bed.
"I'll give you some privacy while you change." Carlisle said.
"Carlisle wait." He stopped pulling the curtain closed and looked at me.
"I need your help. I want Jasper in there with me, he deserves to see his child be born. I don't think he'll ever get a chance like this again." I said.
"I'll do what I can with your father, you have to ask Jasper to be there with you when it's time though." He said. "Change."
"Okay." he closed the curtains, turned away and waited while I changed out of my soiled gym clothes and into the gown on the bed. Everything was going fine until it came to tying the strings on the side.
"Dr. Cullen, I can't get the strings tied." I called.
"Don't worry about tying them. We'll have to put monitors on you so it's easier if they aren't tied. Are you covered?" he asked.
"YesaaaAAAHHHHH" I had attempted to answer but my second contraction hit. Carlisle opened the curtain and rushed over to me.
"Breathe Isabella. It'll be over in a few seconds." He said. I took a deep and almost growled out. Carlisle took my hand and put the arm around me and led me around the room until it was over. Charlie came in as Carlisle was sitting me on the bed.
"Your mom was boarding a plane she'll be landing in seven hours. Then the two hour cab ride, she should be here around midnight." He said. "Phil's coming on a later flight with her bag."
I flashed him a thumbs up and laid back.
"How's she doing, Dr. Cullen?" he asked.
"She just had a contraction and I'm about to see how much she's dilated." Carlisle told him. He was putting on latex gloves and a medical mask.
"Oh well then, I'll go wait outside." Charlie said.
"Hey Dad, See if you can find Jasper. He can come sit with us for a while." I said.
"Sure Bells, You need anything?" he asked.
"No. Thanks Dad." I said. Charlie closed the door and Carlisle closed the curtain.
"Alright Bella, you know how it goes. Legs up in the stirrups." Carlisle said.
…
Two hours and eight contractions later I was only dilated to a two. Charlie and Jasper sat with me the whole time. Jasper read to me and Charlie flipped through the channels.
"It's taken me two hours to get to a two. I kind of feel like a wimp some women have 8 contractions and they're pushing a tiny human out." I said.
"I don't think it works like that Bella." Jasper chuckled looking up from the book he had been reading to me.
"I know but still I've had ten and I'm at a two."
"This is your first baby, Bells. It's gonna be the hardest and slowest one on your body. This is how it happened when you were born too." Charlie said.
"Oh well, Dr. Cullen said he'd be back in an hour so I'm going to try to take a nap." I said. Jasper took his feet down from the bed and stood up. He kissed me on the forehead and turned out the light above me.
"Sweet dreams, Isabella." he sat back down and watched the movie Charlie had out on. I laid there for what seemed like forever I started having another contraction but they all felt the same so I just ground my teeth and tried to ignore it.
"She's a trooper, isn't she?" Jasper said. I felt his cool hand brush the hair from my face.
"That she is." Charlie said. It stayed quiet for a bit. I had the two, and a half, most important men in my life in this room and I couldn't have been happier. "So Jasper, how are things going between you two?"
"Things are going surprisingly well considering how long we've been together." He said.
"Meaning?" my dad prompted.
"I was fascinated with Isabella when I first saw her. Then I met her, and she quickly became very important to me." I could almost hear a smirk in his voice. "I hope to be around for her for a very long time. I hope to be around for Jeremiah for a very long time. Unless she sends me away, I'll be around for as long as she'll have me."
"Well," my dad was never one for words. "Good." He finally settled on one.
"In such a… short time, I've come to care for her more I thought possible." Jasper said. My father didn't say anything else. I laid there and let myself relax. Jeremiah would be here soon. I felt a contraction coming. This one was going to be stronger than the others because it was already worse. I had at least another minute left. I gasped and sat up, vocalizing my pain. Jasper jumped to my side and took my hand. Charlie stood up, too, but kept his distance. He let Jasper tend to me.
"Oh god." I shouted. I growled. I actually growled. I squeezed the stone hand in mine as hard as I could.
"Breathe, I know it hurts, breathe through the pain." he said.
I whimpered with every breath. It finally ended and I laid back and huffed.
"When is Carlisle getting here?" I asked.
"Right now, Miss Swan. That one sounded bad. How are we feeling?" he asked, opening the door.
"When can I start pushing, Cullen?" I was getting irritated. Carlisle chuckled.
"Let's take a look."
"We'll be outside." Charlie said and he and Jasper excused themselves.
I tried to relax while Carlisle investigated my nether regions. Carlisle was quick about his work.
"Well in the last hour you've gone from a two to a four. They should be coming much more regularly so I would start keeping time on them." Carlisle said. "Have you decided if you want to have an epidural?"
"I don't think I do." I said.
"Alright well let me know if you do." He said. "You'll do just fine. I'll send them back in."
"Thank you." I told him.
…
"HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHSONOFABITCH" I screamed. I was up and walking around because Jasper suggested that it might hurry along my contractions. I had been in this hospital since three o'clock. It was now it was now eight o'clock and my contractions were becoming perfectly regular. Charlie and Jasper have been trading off stopwatch duties and Bella babysitting duties. The stopwatch wasn't even a stopwatch. It was a countdown now. Five minutes and fifty-eight seconds. I had been pacing back and forth for about an hour.
Jasper had been "corresponding" with his family, keeping them updated. I told him that if they wanted to come say hello they could while Charlie went to get coffee.
"That's a lot of bloodlust for me to handle Isabella, on top of your contractions which you are taking very well." He said. "They'll come by in twos or threes after he's born."
"Oh, alright. Hey how come you aren't writhing in pain whenever I have a contraction?" I asked. "You said you could feel them."
"I don't feel the contraction per say. I feel your pain. It's very difficult to deal with the thought of you in pain. But I manage to keep a straight face and not crumble. I'll let you do the crumbling and I'll piece you back together." He said. I turned toward the chair he was sitting in. I punched him on the shoulder.
"Jerk." I shook my hand; I had punched him harder than I though.
"Baby, if I could go through all the pain and keep you from it, I would. Hell, if I could even block your pain out and replace it with something better I would. Believe me, I tried." He said.
"I know." I told him. I turned away from him and started to pace again. I felt him walk up behind me. He wrapped his arms around my middle and pulled me to him. He let his hands roam across my belly, he nuzzled into the crook of my neck. I curled fingers into the spaces between his and he wrapped both our arms tighter around me.
"You're beautiful. I've never seen anything more beautiful in my entire life." He said. Jasper moved to my front and held his hand out. He whispered "May I have this dance?"
"I can't dance." I said, equally as quiet, looking away from him. He put a finger under my chin and made me look at him.
"I can." he gathered me into his arms as close as he could. Jasper started to sway with me in his arms.
"But there's no music." I laid my head on his cold chest.
"You're my music."
Another contraction hit me painfully, Jasper held me up and swayed him me. I yelled and cried and silently begged for it to be over. When it had passed I buried my face in his chest.
"Jasper I brought you a cup of coffee. I didn't know how you take it so," he paused. "here."
I looked back at my dad.
"Has Dr. Cullen been in yet?" he asked. I shook my head and shuffled back towards the bed. Charlie helped me into bed and Jasper took a sip of coffee.
"I'll see if I can't go find my father and bring him back here." he said. "I'll bet you've changed a little in the last two hours."
…
Needless to say Jasper was right. Seven hours in and I was dilated to a seven. Charlie was on the phone with my mom. She had just landed. My contractions were closer together by just about two minutes now. I was currently screaming through a contraction and trying my hardest not to call Jasper every name under the sun.
"You did this to me." I whispered at him.
"I know, baby. I'm sorry." He said.
The contraction finally ended and I laid back and turned onto my side.
"You have school tomorrow." I told him.
"I'm only going for appearances." He whispered and kissed my sweaty forehead.
I rubbed my stomach, "You still have to go."
"I'll leave early tomorrow morning." he said. Charlie put his phone away and came over.
"Your mom is renting a car and should be here in a couple hours." He said. He pulled a warm blanket over me.
"I don't know if I can wait that long. I'm kind of at Jeremiah's mercy right now." I said with a tired smile.
Another contraction, they were coming every two minutes.
"Oh God!" I yelled. I screamed harder that I had since I was a child. This contraction was worse than any I had had yet. "Get Dr. Cullen." I yelled. Charlie ran out of the room and Jasper pushed bliss and happiness on me.
"Isabella you're going to be alright. Breathe through it, Babe." Jasper said, he reached around and began to rub my back.
"It's alright Miss Swan. Come now let's get a look." Carlisle said coming in. Jasper and Charlie didn't have a chance to leave, not that I was letting go of Jasper's hand. Jasper's eyes never left my face and Charlie turned away.
"Alright. Isabella. You've got one more centimeter to go and it'll be time to push." He said. "Charlie it's about time to get you dressed. Will there be anyone else in the room?" he looked at me.
"Don't leave." I looked at Jasper.
"Alright, you'll need to get dressed as well, Jasper." He said. Jasper kissed my hand and got up to leave. Charlie came over to stand next to me.
"Bells, are you sure about this?" he asked when Jasper and Carlisle had both left the room.
"Jasper cares about us. I want him to be here for me and Jeremiah. He's going to be around for a while." I said.
"What about your mother?" he asked.
"I have a slight feeling that she won't get here until after I'm out of delivery." I said. Jasper came back in wearing hospital scrubs, a shower cap, and a mask under his chin.
"The nurse is waiting down the hall on your left." he said. My dad nodded and brushed a stray hair out of my face.
"I'll be back, Bell." he said. "Don't start without me."
"I don't think it's up to me." I smiled.
Jasper sat on the hospital bed next to me and stroked my cheek.
"Ready for this?" I asked. Jasper leaned down and kissed me.
"Are you?" he countered. I smiled and took his hand.
"I'm ready to take on anything as long as you're here with me." I looked him up and down. "You look hot." He smiled and adjusted his hair cap.
"Thank you. They told me I could pull off anything." he said. "You're beautiful."
"And you've lost your mind." I said.
"I'm alright with that."
"Oh god, here come another one." I said. I tried my damnedest to breathe through it. It wasn't working. "It's a good thing we're not having any more kids." I said when the pain subsided a little.
"Well if it were possible I wouldn't say no to negotiating." He chuckled. I shot him a look that even he knew not to argue with.
A nurse came in and started moving things onto the bed. Jasper stood up and stood back.
"Dr. Cullen sent me to check that you're fully dilated and to get you ready to go to delivery." She said. Jasper headed to the door.
"Jasper, make sure Charlie calls my mom to let her know we're going back." I said.
"Yes dear." He bowed his head and left the room.
"Alright Mrs. Hale, let's see how far you've gotten." She said and looked down.
"Oh, Jasper and I aren't… My name's not Hale." I told her.
"Oh," she said. "I just assumed that you were married. My mistake." She took off her gloves and stood up. "Almost to ten you'll be there when we get to delivery."
She kicked the bed's brakes off and pulled my bed out of the room carefully.
She wheeled me down the hall and I passed Charlie on the phone with my mother and Jasper standing next to him.
"I know you want to be here. It's not like she can wait. Look Renee she's being rolled away as we speak." He said. "Okay. Okayokayokay. I gotta go g'bye." He hung up the phone and put it away. They both fell into step with the nurse and I.
Jasper walked behind the nurse and Charlie next to me.
"Your mother is going to be the death of me." he said. "I don't know how you handle her."
"I guess I just hand more practic-UGH." Being cut off by the worst pain I had ever felt wasn't how that sentence was meant to end. I grasped blindly for something other than the blankets on the bed. I found my dad's hand and screamed. They pushed me through a set of doors and someone pushed my hair into a hair net. The contraction still hadn't ended and I was only getting worse.
"I think I'm gonna be sick." I said. They pushed me into the room and up next to the delivery table. Carlisle and another nurse were waiting on one side of the table.
"Okay Isabella, are you feeling pressure in or around the birth canal?" he asked, walking around the table. I nodded, afraid to speak for fear of screaming again.
"Lay back and relax, we'll move you. On my count, please." He said. Two nurses reached across the table and grabbed the sheet underneath me. Carlisle and another nurse stood on my side. "Three, two, lift." He said. They lifted me and moved me into position. Carlisle took his position at the end of the table while one of the nurses put me in the stirrups.
Jasper and Charlie took their places on either side of me.
"Alright, everyone let's have a baby." Carlisle said. "He's descending very nicely, we'll be delivering soon." I started to contract again.
It wasn't quite as bad this time but it still hurt. I did my best to breathe and not yell but it didn't work.
"Don't push just yet, Isabella. Let your body do the work; try to relax." Carlisle said. I screamed.
"You're doing fine Isabella." he said. I don't know how I wasn't breaking Charlie's hand.
"It's going fine, Bells. You can do this." My dad said.
"Your uterus isn't working as fast as I had hoped, let's push." He said to me. I nodded. "Ease into it if it helps. Okay here we go. Ready? Push!"
…
11:56pm.
At 11:56pm, I met the most perfect and beautiful face I had ever seen. At five pounds and fifteen ounces and nineteen inches long, Jeremiah Axel Swan was born. He was on the small side but Carlisle said he was healthy. Beautiful blonde hair and big brown eyes; he look so much mike Jasper. Jasper insists that he has my eyes, but I like to think that he'll be the spitting image of his father. Dad cut the cord.
He was taken by the nurses and clean off way too quickly for my liking. Before I could formulate a good protest, the nurses had wiped him off and given him to my dad. My dad looked at Jeremiah like he was the only thing in the room. It was safe to say he was pretty in love with his grandson.
Jasper kept his distance for Charlie's sake. I hated that he couldn't see his son up close. It was now almost 1am, Jeremiah and I were in our own room and I had fed him once since he was born. I hadn't put him down since he was given to me.
"Your mom will be here in a few minutes, I'm going to go wait for her down stairs." Charlie said, standing up. He kissed my forehead and then Jeremiah's hat. I nodded and he left. I looked over to Jasper, who had been pretending to sleep in the chair next to me. He was watching the both of us.
"He has a strong heartbeat." He commented. I looked down at my sleeping angel.
"He's definitely yours." I said. Jasper didn't say anything. I looked from Jeremiah to Jasper. "I think it's time you officially met your son." I pushed myself up enough to support Jeremiah's small body and pass him to Jasper. Jasper stood with his full speed. He looked at his hands and wiped them on his jeans like they might be sweating.
"I.. I don't…" he tripped over his words. "What if he doesn't like me and he cries?"
"You're his father, you'll figure it out. I'll be right here." I said. He hesitated and nodded.
Jasper leaned close enough to take Jeremiah from my arms. Jeremiah started to fuss a little and I could see Jasper start to panic.
"Deep breath." I said, not that he needed it. I saw him visibly inhale. Jeremiah settled into his arms and was quickly asleep again. Jasper's tense stance relaxed and he looked up at me.
"He's so calm around me." he said. "He shouldn't be."
"He knows who his daddy is, no matter what happened to you, you're his daddy." I said. Jasper sat on the edge of the bed. I scooted over and let him on the bed with me. He put one around me and held our son with the other. I laid my head on his chest watched my little boy sleep. Pretty soon I was asleep too.

"How is she doing? How's Jeremiah? How big is he?" Renee asked in a fiery whirlwind. "Is Bella awake?"
"Renee." I tried.
"Has he been fed?"
"Renee…" I said again.
"How did labor go?"
"Renee!" I finally said with a little more force. She stopped.
"What?" she asked.
"Slow down." I said. "She's fine, the doctor said it was a relatively painless delivery. Well not for her but everything went perfectly. Jeremiah's doing well, he was just under six pounds and he's nineteen inches long. When I left Bella, she was awake. Jasper and Jeremiah are asleep. She fed him shortly after getting back into their room."
"Jasper?" she asked.
"Bella's boyfriend."
"He's here? They've only been together for a couple weeks, why is he here?" she asked, leading the way through the hospital. I followed her, making sure she went to the right place.
"His sister was the first one to get to her when her water broke. He drove her and made sure she got here alright. He hasn't left her side for more than thirty minutes since she got here." I told her. "I've spoken with him several times throughout the night. If I didn't know any better I'd say he loves her."
"What about Bella?" she turned the wrong way and I stopped and waited for her to notice. She turned around and I pointed in the correct direction.
"Can I lead now?" I asked she rolled her eyes. "I don't really know how Bells feels. I haven't been around her long enough. I was hoping you'd give some insight to that."
"We'll see. What room is she in?"
I led Renee to Bella's room and opened the door. It seems in the twenty minutes I had been gone Jasper had woken up and taken Jeremiah, gotten up in the bed with Bella and she had fallen asleep on him.
"I think a couple things have changed since you left." Renee whispered. Jasper looked up.
"You must be Mrs. Dwyer." He whispered. "I would get up but," he looked at my daughter sleeping soundly. Renee didn't hesitate, she walked right over. "I would also shake your hand but both are a little indisposed." He said.
"He's so small!" Renee carefully took Jeremiah from Jasper. Jasper watched her closely. "Charlie sit down and tell me everything." she said, taking the seat Jasper had been in before.

Jeremiah was with the nurses and Charlie was keeping as close an eye as he could on him. Jasper had woken me up early this morning to tell me he was headed home to change before either of my parents had woken up either. Esme and Carlisle came by this morning after Carlisle had had a chance to "rest". Renee and Esme hit it off immediately. After Carlisle looked him over again, Esme held onto him for quite a while. My mom and Esme sat around me and gushed about Jeremiah. Carlisle and Charlie stood a little further away, chatting.
"Carlisle said that your delivery went perfectly. No complications at all." Esme said.
"She didn't even tear. She's a lucky mommy." Renee said.
"Mom." I said, I could feel my face turn red.
"Hey you forfeit all rights to be embarrassed when you become a mother. Especially when you're dating your doctor's son." She said.
"Oh don't worry Bella. I won't tell anyone. But your mother's right. You'll have a fairly easy recovery." Esme said. "So do you need anything? I can send Jasper to pick it up before he and his siblings come here."
"They're all coming today?" I asked.
"Edward and Emmett have appointments right after school but Jasper and the girls will be here." she said. "Emmet and Edward will be by later this evening."
"I'm going to have to send Charlie home soon anyway so don't worry about it. He's been here as long as I have but he came straight from the station. He needs to go home and change. I'll have him get me some stuff and a couple newborn outfits for Jeremiah." I said.
"What about you Renee?" Esme asked. "Can we get you anything? Carlisle and I have a lunch date so we'll be leaving soon. We could comeback after."
"Oh I'll be alright until Phil gets here." she said. "His plane lands at 2:40 this afternoon. Charlie said he'd go pick him up he'll be leaving in about an hour."
"Then he should go home and get cleaned up." I said.
"Then why don't Carlisle and I run by your house with Charlie and get your things? We'll bring them back around 1:30?" Esme asked.
"That's fine with me." I said.
"Dad." I got his and Carlisle's attention. "I'm kicking you out. You should go home and shower before you go pick Phil up."
"I'll be alright Bells." I narrowed my eyes at him. He sighed. "You need anything?"
"That's what we're here for. I offered to come pick up some of Isabella's things for her." Esme said. I wrote a list of what I needed and gave it to my dad.
"Thank you so much for coming to see us." I said to Esme. I hugged her and she gave Jeremiah to me. "Wouldn't miss seeing my grandson." He whispered in my ear.
"Thanks for everything, Dr. Cullen." Charlie shook Carlisle's hand.
"Please, call me Carlisle. Isabella's a wonderful girl. She's making Jasper very happy; she means a lot to our family." he said, then turned to me. "I'll be back to check on him before you leave. For now get plenty of rest." He said.
"Thanks Carlisle." He nodded.
Charlie escorted Esme and Carlisle out of the room. I looked at my sweet boy and found him awake and looking at me.
"Hi there." I said. "You are just the sweetest little thing."
"He is." My mom said. "He has your eyes and PJ's hair."
I looked up at my mom and smiled.
"He does look like his daddy." I said.
…
Later in the afternoon, I was reading Wuthering Heights while my mom was looking after Jeremiah. A knock at the door drew me away from the book. I pushed myself up and covered myself.
"Come in." I called. My mom looked up from playing with Jeremiah. Alice and Rosalie appeared from behind the door carrying balloons and a giant blue teddy bear.
"Bella!" Alice scurried over and hugged me. I got a face full of stuffed animal. Rose set the balloons on the window sill.
"Alice, hi." I said. Alice sat the bear in a chair in the corner.
"Hi Rosalie." I said hugging her. I looked at the door where Jasper stood with a giant bouquet of red roses in a vase.
"Hey Jazz." I said. He winked at me.
"Miss Isabella." he bowed his head.
"Can we see him?" Rose asked. I smiled.
"You wanna see him?" I asked. Jasper set the roses on my little table next to me and kissed my head.
"I wanna see him!" Alice all but squealed in excitement. Mom picked him up and passed him to Rosalie.
"Mom, this is Alice Cullen and Rosalie Hale." I said. "Guys this is my mom." I said.
"You and Jasper are related?" she asked Rose.
"Twins, actually." Jasper spoke up from his place next to me. "Alice is Emmett's younger sister and Edward is the odd ball."
"Jasper." Alice scolded.
"And you guys chose to keep your last name?" my mother asked.
"We knew our parents before they died. We kept it for them." Rosalie said.
"Emmett and I didn't know our parents very well. I was a baby and Emmett was just barely a year old." Alice said.
"Carlisle and Esme saved us."
"Who's older? If you don't mind me asking?"
"Emmett's the oldest. Jasper is older by nine minutes. " Rosalie said.
"You better believe that nine minutes counts, baby sister." He said.
"Shut up. Then it's me, Edward, and Alice is the youngest." She said.
"I thought you were the oldest." I said to Jasper.
"Nope. Emmett's older than me by a few months." He said. Rosalie and Alice sat next to me on the bed and Rose sat at the foot. Jasper went with my mother to the cafeteria while Rose and Alice stayed with me.
"He's going to be the spitting image of Jasper." I said, when I knew that my mother wasn't nearby.
"I can tell." Alice said when Rose passed Jeremiah to her.
"Everyone thinks that he has my eyes but he doesn't. He has Jasper's. They're the same as his little sister's and his mother's." I said.
"What were they like?" Rosalie asked. "His family."
"He doesn't talk about it much." Alice said. "Not even before we joined the Cullens."
"They were wonderful. His little sister was one of the best friends I ever had. I wish you could have met her. His little brother was always hungry. Always. He was a really hard worker too. The whole family was. James reminded me of my dad. He was really protective. And Mary Elizabeth, she loved me like I was her daughter before I married Jasper." I paused. "She took care of me when I was sick, and when I was hurt. I had hair a lot longer than this before but when I was kidnapped. He cut all my hair off and it was uneven and gross looking and I was getting married. She fixed it and made me feel beautiful when I though I never could be again.
"It was the best decision of my life to go back. I found the one man I was supposed to be with and fell in love. But, I got the chance to become part of his family. I got to be there for his little sister when no one knew she needed it. She spent more time sleeping in my room after a late night then she did in her own room."
Rose looked back at the door where Jasper was leaning against the doorway. He stood up quickly and flustered.
"Your mom won't let me pay for her food. I offered to come get her purse." Jasper said. He picked up my mother's purse. "I'll, uh, I'll see you later, Isabella." he said. He turned to leave but stopped and then ghosted over to me. He leaned down and kissed my temple. "I love you."
…
Shortly after Rosalie and Alice left they came and took Jeremiah to be circumcised. Jasper and I did homework. I had only been gone a day and Mr. Greene was pushing for homework to be on time. They gave me instructions for his aftercare. Jasper and I let him sleep in the little plastic tub bed they kept in the room while we worked on homework. Mom and Phil went to the house with Charlie so mom could freshen up.
"So where did Emmett and Edward have to be right after school?" I asked.
"It started out as a cover story." Jasper said looking at me with his beautiful smirk. "Then they decided to go on a short hunting trip. They'll be here in a little bit."
"I'm supposed to be able to go home tomorrow." I said.
"I know." he said. "I won't get to spend as much time with you."
"You'll be there at night." I said. "I'm okay with that. I love you." I said.
"I love you too." he stood up and leaned over me. He kissed me and I laid back. Jasper climbed onto the bed and laid down with me. I curled into him and kissed him.
"Hi." I whispered. He looked at me like he did the night we got married. I smiled at him.
"Hello, Mrs. Whitlock." He whispered back.
"HELLO HAPPY COUPLE!" Emmett burst in the room, scaring me half to death and waking Jeremiah up.
"Emmett!" Edward whisper-yelled.
Jasper jumped up to get Jeremiah. Shortly after he picked him up the, Jeremiah quieted down.
"Jeez, man. You gotta remember there's a baby around now." Jasper said.
"That's the whole reason we're here." Edward said.
"Sorry." Emmett whispered. He came over to me and handed me a box of chocolate and a vase of flowers. He kissed my cheek.
"You don't have to whisper, Emmett." I told him.
Edward pulled him out of the way and hugged me. He kissed me on the cheek too, and then gave me a blanket and a CD. He looked at Jasper and chuckled. "
"I'm not trying to steal your girlfriend, bro. Take it easy." He said.
"I recorded some lullabies for him and I wrote one for him too." He told me.
"Thanks." I said. Jasper passed Jeremiah to Emmett. He looked so tiny in Emmett's arms.
"Make sure he stays warm." I said.
…
"Come on." Charlie said. "He's dressed. You're dressed let's get you in the car and get you home."
Jasper carried the car seat, the giant teddy bear and a bag of my stuff. Phil and Mom carried the rest of the things I was sent and given. It was time to go home and I was holding my sweet bundle of joy in my lap.
I was ready to bring my baby home. I was ready to watch him sleep in his bassinet in my room. I was ready to see him grow. But at the same time, I wanted nothing more than for him to stay little. He smelled so perfect. I never believed that babies smelled good until I breathed in my baby boys scent while he slept on my chest.
"Here we go." Charlie said, we stopped at the sliding doors and Carlisle helped me stand. I put Jeremiah in his car seat and strapped him in carefully.
Charlie opened the door and clicked his car set into place. I hugged Carlisle.
"Thank you for all this." I said.
"It's my job, Isabella. Besides, you know how we as a family feel about you." he said. I turned to Jasper and took the bear from him.
"Thank you for being here for us." I said. "I'll see you later."
"Not a problem, ma'am." He hugged me. "I love you." he whispered in my ear. The kissed me on the cheek. "Later it is."
"I can get myself in the car, Dad. Will you help Mom and Phil?" I said.
"Sure Bell." He said.
"I'll be waiting for you tonight." I said to Jasper after my parents left. Jasper leaned up against the car and wrapped his arms around me. I looked around his form to check on Jeremiah.
"He's alright. I'm listening to him." he said to me.
"Are you sure?" I asked trying to see around him.
"Bella. Trust me. I would never let anything happen to my son." He said. He pulled me closer to him. "You have never been more beautiful and sexy than you are now."
"God, Jasper. My hair is gross and my clothes are awful and don't fit." I pushed against his chest. He held on to me.
"You are! You're the mother of my child. You're the love of my entire existence. It doesn't matter what you're wearing and what you look like. You're perfect to me." he said.
"You're lying." I said.
"I'm not." He kissed me. "Your dad's heading back. I have to go" he kissed me again. "I'll see you tonight." He kissed me one more time and was gone before I could say anything.
"Damn vampire." I got in the car and sat next to Jeremiah. My phone went off. I checked it and it went off again. Two text messages from Jasper.
I heard that.
The second was a picture of when I fell asleep in Jasper while he was holding Jeremiah.
By the way, here's this.
