She was gathering herbs in the forest, not too far off the path but far enough that she would not be seen – or disturbed – by any of the passing ellyn or ellith. She had helped her naneth complete this task many centuries ago and now took it upon herself to make sure that the healers hut was never out of the healing herbs needed, as her naneth could not, for she had sailed to Valinor many decades ago.

And so it was there he found her – or better yet, he saw her. He had woken much before the sunrise and found himself in amongst the trees of the Green Wood, he hadn't meant to have been there in the first place, since his ada wanted to see him as soon as the sun had risen to discuss matters that he said were of the 'utmost importance'.

And so he stayed as long as he could. If it wasn't for his ada describing their soon to be meeting as anything but important, he would have completely disregarded it, perfectly content with watching the young elleth go about her daily business.

She had come to an oak tree, gently picking the herbs that grew around the base and delicately dropping them into her basket that she held in the crook of her arm. He thought that she must have been done with her job, for once she had finished at the tree she turned around, and walked back the way she had came - so silently that if he hadn't have been watching her he would not have noticed her leave.

It was only then that he realized that he had been away for far too long, as when he looked up, the sun had already started shining through the thick canopy of leaves above him. His father, Oropher, had traveled all the way from his Elven Kingdom that would later be known as Mirkwood to where his son dwelt in Lindon - which told him that the matter to be discussed must be important, if his ada could not just say what it was in a letter. So Thranduil walked the same path that the unknown elleth had back to the gates of Lindon where he began to look for his father.

He found his father in his room.

"Ada," Thranduil said, in greeting to Oropher.

"Ion nîn," Oropher led his ion the table and chairs that were placed in his sons room. "I have found a few ellith that I would think you would find pleasing."

His ion looked at him, dumbfounded. He had never had guessed that the matter of which his ada had called him to discuss would of been - of all things - marriage.

"I believe it is time that you start looking for the elleth you wish to marry," Oropher continued. "And so I have arranged for a meeting between the iel of Celeborn and Galadriel, and you."

Thranduil, of course, knew it was way past the time to start looking for wife, but never before had his ada been so insistent on his ions marriage.

"As you wish, ada, but I thought that I could take whomever I choosed as my wife," It wasn't meant as a question, but Oropher took it that way.

"Yes, of course, but it would not hurt to meet her," Oropher answered. "She is said to be the most lovely of all the Lothlórien elves, golden hair and a beautiful face."

"And does this lovely elleth have a name?"

"Celebrían,"

And with that, Thranduil took leave of his ada, thoroughly doubting that this meeting between Celebrían and him would be a success.

A/N: So, this is the Thranduil fic we've been working on :D It's going to possibly go up until the events of the Hobbit, but most of it will be taking place before that. Just so you know, Celebrían is not who is going to be married to Thranduil, it just kinda happened... But oh well.
