Chapter 5

1 Year Later

A tall figure cloaked in a black hoodie stood leaning against a tree. The figure was distinctively male. A well built one at that.

He seemed to be watching something.

A girl. She was short and petite. Her long hair was tied in a neat bun and she was hunched over a thick book.

She looked up, as if sensing the man's gaze. She didn't seem surprised to see him there.

"Perseus" she greeted, tilting her head slightly to the left as a form of greeting.

"Lady Athena." He replied, bowing his head in respect.

"As you know Perseus, the Titan's have gotten stronger. And we need your help." She told him, her eyes flashing angrily at the ground like it had personally offended her.

"I am well aware of this Athena. But, as you know, it is against the laws for me to help the gods. Even if I was permitted to help you, why should I? The only thing the gods have given me is pain. Tell me Athena, what would you do if it was you in my position? You would leave them to rot, would you not?" He replied.

His hood fell, revealing a handsome face. It was his eyes that stood out the most.

They were a dark green, like the sea before a storm. He raised his eyebrows at the goddess.

"I would probably leave them to rot Perseus. It is in my nature to hold grudges. But you on the other hand, your fatal flaw will not let you hold grudges against those you care about Perseus. As for the laws. . . Well, there is always a loophole."

The woman's grey eyes shone.

The man glared at her, muttering some not-so-flattering curses under his breath.

"I can not face the council again, Lady Athena. With all due respect, have I not done enough for the gods? What more do you all want from me?"

"Perseus, you're life is not an easy one. There is more hardships in your future. The future of the world may depend on you on day and if you give up now, well the world is already doomed."

The man sighed.

This is exactly why he had hesitated to meet Athena.

They had always been on good terms. She was an intelligent goddess and he had enjoyed their afternoons on Olympus when they would discuss, argue and debate over the ongoing events. He also knew how good she was with words.

He was on the losing side from the start.

Athena was very, very persuasive when she wanted to be. He knew he would give in eventually.

He sighed tiredly.

"I'll do it."

Line break

Being part of the Parthenon of Greek Gods was an absolute nightmare.

He had hated it.

But being a banished God was even worse. He could no longer use his powers without feeling pain. He was slowing becoming mortal. He could feel the weekending of his bones, the loss of his brain capacity, everything.

He was in hell.

To top it all off, Athena had assigned him a solo mission to take down an entire platoon of monsters.

And their leader.

Hyperion.

The very Titan he had been accused of conspiring with. The very Titan his oh-so-loving mother caught him red handed supposedly plotting the end of the world.

His hands clenched in anger.

He hated her.

A mother was supposed to be a person who would be there no matter what. She was that one constant in a persons life. She was the one person who was supposed to understand and be there throughout. She was the one person who was there by their side, supporting them, backing them up, fighting for them, worrying about them.

But no.

He had to have the worst mother on earth.

Mentally berating himself for thinking about her, he got back to focusing on his mission. He was assigned to take down this platoon of monsters. Along with Hyperion of course.

He smirked.

Time for some fun.

Line break

The Titan war ended with a huge celebration.

It was one of the most gruesome wars ever fought. And now the gods had to relax. And what better way to relax than through a big, Olympus style party?

But before that, they had an important decision to make.

"All is favour of removing Perseus' banishment?" Zeus bellowed, meeting everyone's eyes, daring them to disagree with him.

Ten hands went up.

Percy glared at Artemis. She would never give up.

"Well then. Now that that is settled, let's celebrate" said Zeus, breaking out into a smile.

Line break

Percy could believe there was going to be another war fought.

Seriously. What was there problem? Was it so hard to just stay asleep?

He grumbled in annoyance and he traced the hunters' camp.

He had been assigned another mission with the hunters.

This time, they had to locate the head camp of the monster army.

Cursing the Giants under his breath, he made is way to the hunters, his footsteps not making a sound.

Being the son of the goddess of the hunt had its perks.

Finally spotting it, he slowed down, not very enthusiastic about spending the next month or so with the hunters.

Percy sighed. He seemed to doing that a lot lately. At this rate he would get wrinkles by the time he turned 450 years.

Cracking a smile at his own joke, he ducked as an arrow aimed at his head hit the tree behind him.

"Always loved these warm welcomes Zoë" he called out, swiftly moving to the side as another arrow aimed at his crotch hit the tree again.

"Oh it's you" she said, not putting her bow down. "What do you want? I thought you were banished. What business do you have here, boy?" She spat, glaring at him.

If looks could kill, he would be six feet under.

He raised an eyebrow at her.

"Well? Do you want me to kill you or will you speak?" She said maliciously.

He laughed.

Zoë's jaw dropped. He had the audacity to laugh at her?

Her eyes narrowed and she reached for another arrow.

"I hope you realise, little girl that I am older than you. And, I'm a god. You can't kill me. Come on Zoë, I expected more from you" he mocked, all traces of humour erased from his face.

Before she could reply, someone interrupted them.

Or rather, Pheobe interrupted them.

"Lord Perseus, Lady Artemis will see you in her tent now." She mumbled.

Zoë snickered mockingly.

"Yes, Lord Perseus, let us go meet Lady Artemis." With that said, she turned her back and began to make her way the the giant silver tent situated on the other side of the camp.

Percy sighed.

This will be fun.
