The human mutate and Mother Nature-like figure walked into the mysterious spherical environment. It was humid and strange to say the least.
Peter's brows knit together, incredulously.
"So... Uh, you hang out here often?" He asked, half-teasingly as he glanced at a large vine creature tangling with other flora above his head.
Her rose red locks curled behind her in the air as she explored her surreal idea of Eden. She smirked a little.
"Every now and then, yes." She said.
Her voice was soft, the syllables slurring into each other like liquid.
Peter scratched the back of his neck, not sure what to say.
"So... Uh, let me get this straight... You can control plant-life?" He asked.
He had seen plenty of uncanny things in his life, but nothing quite like this.
One half of his mind was afraid and the other was pleasant.
"Yes." She said. "And you have the abilities of a spider?"
Poison Ivy led him onto a titanic leaf by a waterfall. It grew tall to lead them on a higher level.
"Yeah. It's a knack of mine." He said and buffed his fingers on his chest.
"Is that so?" The red-head said as she caressed a fanged plant of some sort.
Spidey's lips formed a thin line.
"Yeeah. Uh, what were we saying?..." He wondered, distracted by her bizarre beauty. "Oh, yeah. Who's-" He cleared his throat and made his best Harley impression. "Mistah J?"
Poison Ivy's deep eyes became dark and somber.
"Oh... That's what Harley calls him. But everyone calls him the Joker." She said, small vines curling around her hand. Her black lips were pursed and her brows knit together.
Her snap dragon ate a fly, making a loud chomp sound as it did so.
Pete jumped a bit and shuddered, but refrained from making immature comments.
"Oh? A jokester, huh? Well, if Harl likes him, he's gotta be cool, huh?" He said with a nervous grin.
Ivy shot a cold glare at him.
He anxiously chuckled. "Eh heh. No?"
"The Joker is a heartless psychotic. He acts like he loves Harley, but he only uses the poor girl to his advantage. He abuses her. Even at the slightest mistakes. He tied her to a rocket and nearly killed her. He pushed her out a window. But she always ends up going back to the monster. I can't stand the man because of it." She said and sat on a dark mushroom by a couple large fly traps. They snarled. Thorns grew from the ground.
Peter frowned at this.
Poor Harley girl. He thought.
"Gosh... Ivy, do you think there's some way we can save her?" Pete said and looked down gloomily.
"I don't know." She said, almost hopeless sounding. "I have tried to rescue her so many times but she follows him wherever he goes, like a lost puppy."
A couple of trees of moss stood by Poison Ivy's side. Spider-Man shot a silky substance between them and formed a web. He leapt on it to sit beside her, criss-cross-applesauce.
While he was mesmerized by the girl, he wasn't completely warming up to her at the moment.
"Well, hey. I'm not the best at being a vigilante and all but... I've gotta tell ya. I've helped many... Misguided people turn around." He said, keeping himself from calling her a criminal. "While some are lost forever, because they stay that way, I think there's always hope. I can probably convince her to stay away from that nutcase."
Ivy softened a little at this.
"That would be wonderful." She said, a few blossoms rising by her arm.
The two shared a smile.
Pete wrapped his arms behind his head, relaxing somewhat.
"You know... No offence and all, but I never thought certain crooks could be such big softies deep down." He said.
The ginger rolled her eyes.
"None taken..." She responded, half-sarcastically. "Well, no offence and all, but I never thought such- crime-fighters could be so understanding."
Spidey smirked at this. He layed upside down, looking at her from that angle.
"So. Are we- even now?" He said, innocently.
She took a long look at him, loosening up a bit. A little smile sparked on her lips.
"I suppose you could say so."
Ivy smiled slightly as the two leaned in closer. However, they were soon interrupted by an ecstatic Harley Quinn swinging open the door to the bio-dome "Reeeed! Remember that dress I saw in the mall window yesterday?"
Ivy rolled her eyes, "Yes, I remember it...You've told me about 15 times now."
Harley dragged Ivy into the other room closing the door, "Don't mind us, this is just a little mattah between me and Red, we had somethin' planned for tonight, we'll all go out for dinner or somethin' tommorow."
Spider-Man was left in the bio-dome, taken aback by the recent events. He sat down on the giant mushroom Ivy was sitting on earlier, as the flytraps looked up at him. "Um...Hi?" Spidey said, not sure how they would respond. To his surprise, they started brushing up against his legs, almost like cats. Spider-Man laughed a little as their touch tickled his legs.
Meanwhile, Ivy was annoyed by Harley's interruption, right when she was getting to know the Spider. "You want us to steal it, don't you?" she sighed, smiling a little at the thought. Harley nodded excitedly, "Rightaroonie, me and Eddie already got the whole thing planned out! You go in, shakin yer hips and battin them eyelashes of yours, Venom will help you out with the stronger willed guards and I'll steal the dress...Will try and get somethin for you if I have time."
"Venom's going along with us? Suppose it's always nice to have some added muscle to the lineup...But what about Spidey? Can't have him following us, and...And I don't want to fight him."
Harley tapped her foot, scratching her forehead as if it was some kind of difficult riddle. Finally, she snapped her fingers. "Lightbulb moment! Maybe you could knock him out with that kiss of yours! He'll be asleep for the heist, we can get our stuff without interruptions, and he'll be all smiles and cupcakes when we get back!"
Ivy turned back to face the bio-dome. "...That's not a bad idea Harl...For a multitude of reasons. Heck, maybe he'll even remember it when he wakes up..."
