She is beautiful top student and he's handsome captain of the football team. They would be a perfect couple, wouldn't they? But they hate each other. Their greeting is sentice „I hate you!". But is that really how they're feeling? The line between love and hate is thin so what are they really feeling?

Chapter 1

"Results of the last exams were a disaster!" The Chemistry teacher, Miss Evergreen began dramatically, waving with the test papers in her right hand.

The class was silent. They could see that Ms. Evergreen or, the Pixie, as the students like to call her because of her always green outfits that constantly reminded students of Tinker bell's dress.

"Out of 30 students in this class only six got passing marks! And the test wasn't even that hard!" She continued walking around in front of the blackboard. Many students groaned at her last remark.

"Yeah, to you. Cause you're the teacher." somebody murmured, not even trying to be quiet. The class giggled at the sentence making the Pixie glare at the class. The whole class immediately froze at her stone glare.

Some of the students say that her glare could turn you into stone if you looked at her eyes for too long. Of course that was untrue, but the students still continued staring at their desks not even daring to look up.

"I am the teacher because I worked hard for it! I studied this subject really hard! I didn't get any failing marks! And thanks to that now I know everything you didn't in this test!" The teacher replied angrily. Her voice echoed through the classroom making every single student shiver.

"Don't you care about your future?! This class is the only one in the whole school that continuously has more than ten failing marks. And that tells something!" Evergreen lectured.

"That you're a lousy teacher?" One of the students spoke dryly.

"One more remark, Dragoneel and I'll give you double detention for the rest of the year!" Evergreen threatened to her pink-haired... No... Salmon-haired student in the back row. The guy only grunted but didn't say anything else.

"Anyway, those who didn't get passing marks will say after school for the next two weeks for supplementary lesions. If you don't pass the make-up exam you'll fail the subject, meaning; will see each other the whole next summer break!" Evergreen spoke with an evil glint appearing in her eyes. Many of the students groaned.
"But it's only the start of the year." One of the students complained.
"And this exam took 40% of the final grade. Knowing my class, you probably wouldn't even work hard for the other 60% of the grade." Evergreen replied.

Her class was horrid. It was like the principal decided to take 80% of the whole stupid and delinquent population of the second year and put them in class with her as their homeroom teacher. Luckily the top six students of their grade were also in her class but that couldn't raise the whole average of the class.

"Congratulations to Fullbaster, Strauss, McGarden, Fernandez, Heartfillia and Horvath. You all got A's as opposite to the rest of the idiot class. Keep up the good work." Evergreen spoke smiling at her top six students.

As I wrote before, top six students of the whole grade were in her class.

First place occupies Lucy Heartfillia; busty blonde beauty with huge brown eyes with golden freckles, cherry full lips and gorgeous body. She is desired by many students of their school.

She shares her spot with Jellal Fernandez, blue-haired bishounen and the vice president of the school council. At first look everybody would think that his a deliquent because of long red tattoo that went from little above of his right eyebrow, down his right eye lid and stopping an inch before the end of his handsome face. But his grades proved the opposite. He was probably the second most moral person in the whole school, first place taking Erza Scarlet, the student council president (9th place). Bishoujo with scarlet hair and brown eyes. Unfortunately, because of her strict and scary personality she is mostly avoided by male population of the school.

The second place takes Levy McGarden, petit blue-haired cutie that has an undying love for books.
The third place was Ella Horvath, Slavic gal that moved from small country in the south-east part of Europe. She's known for her natural brown curly hair and forest green eyes.

Forth place is Gray Fullbaster, a bishounen with dark-blue hair and eyes. Probably the most handsome guy at Fairy Tail high and also Lucy's childhood friend. Many students suspect there is more to their relationship than just childhood friendship.

Fifth place and the last smart student in this idiotic class is Mirajane Strauss. Kind, beautiful part-time model with silver-white hair and ocean blue eyes. She's the class's mother as she always takes care of everybody around her. She is adored by the whole school.

"What else to expect? Only geeks with no social lives got A's." Salmon-haired guy aka. Natsu Dragoneel spoke dryly.

Natsu, the school's successful football's team ace and captain, handsome and funny, he's the most popular guy in the school. He has the body; he has the face, girls drooling over him, athletic abilities... The only thing that he doesn't have is the brain...

"Look who's talking, Football Freak!" Gray replied glaring at the salmon idiot.

"Oh, you wanna go, Ice Freak!" Natsu replied.

"Gray, stop it. It's better if you don't touch him, you could get infected by his stupidity." Lucy cut in their fight mocking Natsu. Gray only smirked.

"Who are you calling stupid, ugly?" Natsu yelled at Lucy who glared at him.

"I call idiots like you stupid, you peanut-for-brain-moron!" Lucy replied almost as loud as Natsu.

"Oh, Ms. Goodie-Two-Shoes—" Natsu began but got cut off by Evergreen

"Dragoneel! Heartfillia! Take your argument to the principal's room! NOW!" Miss Evergreen said glaring at both teens.

"He / She started it!" they said in sync.

"I don't care who started it. I'm fed up with your arguments every single day. You always argue like there is no tomorrow! Every single teacher in this school complains to me about your stupid, pointless fights!" Evergreen tried to sound calm but she couldn't hide anger in her voice.

The two students didn't say anything as they both took their things from their desks, glaring hard at each other.

When they finally left the classroom Evergreen sat down on her chair sighing miserably and cursing the principal for putting her as the homeroom teacher for the idiot class, in her head.
"Alright people. You'll continue your discussing after the class! Today we'll start with crystals! Now, open your books at page 56." Evergreen continue with her job, explaining the lesion to only seven or so students in the class. The rest didn't even bother to take out their books; they would just sleep or talk between themselves quietly.

'Well, seven is better than nothing.., right? Ugh, my head.' Evergreen thought while explaining crystal structures.

"Lucy! Natsu! This is already tenth time this week! When will you stop fighting?!" The principal asked sounding tired and fed up.

"He/ She started it!" They shouted accusingly pointing at each other.

"Hey! Stop that!" They glared at each other.

"Stop copying me!"

"Me?! You're the one copying!" It was like they were playing mirror.

Makarov sighed and then cleared his throat in hope he'll gain their attention. Of course, he wasn't of that luck. The two quarreled so fast that Makarov didn't even understand what were they saying.

"Guys! Stop!" Makarov spoke but the arguing couple ignored him. They continued throwing meaningless accusations and remarks at each other.

"Heartfillia! Dragoneel!" He tried in threatening tone. Still nothing. The two continued ignoring him while arguing.

"SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU BRATS!" Makarov yelled angrily finally getting their attention. Lucy's mouth was opened wide and Natsu just smirked.

"Such a colorful words you used there." Natsu mocked.

"Shut up, you moron. You have no right to mock the principal!" Lucy commented.

"And you have the right to mock me, ha?" Natsu replied.

"Of course, since I'm better than you!" Lucy spoke egoistically, smirking.

"What? You are in no way better than me!"

"Oh, yes I am! I'm smart, while you're not, I'm good looking, which you obviously are not, and I have great personality, while you're like a cave men; the only thing you care about is brute strength while your brain is as big as a peanut!"

"Wha—"

"DETENTION! BOTH OF YOU!"Makarov shouted stopping their fight.

"What?! Detention with him/ her?!" They spoke in sync, again "Stop that!" and again.

It was fun to watch how they fight about meaningless and stupid things. How they look like they could kill each other any minute now and how they speak in sync when are they trying to accuse each other. But Makarov wasn't here to have fun. He was here to teach those brats how to behave... And video record their fights so he could laugh later.

"You'll have detention for two weeks. And if you fight for the next two weeks, I'll give you detention till the end of this year, understood?!" Makarov said, glaring at the teens.
They both growled before nodding their heads. They didn't speak at all just stood there awkwardly.

"You may go now." Makarov dismissed them turning his back towards them. The two walked out of the office with scowls on their face.

"That old man, trying to act cool while dismissing us..." Natsu commented.

"Yeah. If only he was a meter and a half taller so it wouldn't look like a dog trying to outsmart his owner." Lucy agreed giggling a bit. Natsu joined with few laughs.

They continued walking towards the classroom in awkward silence neither one knowing what to say.

"Natsu, you're stupid." Lucy broke the silence speaking softly.

"And you're bipolar." Natsu replied in the same tone.

Lucy chuckled a bit before saying,
"I hate you." She spoke in gentle tone, like she was saying 'I love you.' Maybe she's tsundere?

"Yeah, I hate you too." Natsu replied softy, looking at the floor. Hiding a bit of pain and sadness that showed in his eyes.

They both entered the classroom in silence apologizing for disturbing the lesion.

They would never admit it out loud (well, one of them would never) but they didn't hate each other as much as they claimed to. In fact, when they fight they have fun. But they would never admit it.
They would also never admit that if the other one wasn't around that they would be bored. And they would never admit that they like each other... A bit (for one of them)... Or a lot (for the other one).

The line between love and hate is thin, so is the hate the real feeling they are sharing?

So here's the re-written first chapter. I will put second and third very soon. I could not post a new chapter before re-writing this because I read it again this summer and I didn't like it one bit. So here's better version. Can you guess who is Ella Horvath representing? I will advertise my little unknown country in my story. Well, not really unknown, I heard it's pretty well-known in South Korea. So, till the next time.
