"Do you think about death often, Miss Smoak?"

His voice mingled with the sound of cascading, bubbling water, and a sense of pause filled the room, the air, Felicity's mind. She relaxed, facing the Head of the Demon.

Ra's extended his hand towards her, wrist facing upward.

"I don't fear death either, Miss Smoak. I find it fascinating, like you."

Felicity face turned sharply, wrenching her gaze from where it had migrated to the glistening water, up to his chiseled face.

"You do find death fascinating. I know. I see the way you look at the water. Your eyes are not like the others. You do not observe as one who fears the unknown. Like me, you've been through the Pit."

Her eyebrows raised.

"Not my Pit of course."

Ra's smiled, softly, with pride.

"You created your own. You destroyed who you were and rebuilt a new self. I've watched you, Miss Smoak."

A rigidity left Felicity's shoulders, her gaze meeting al Ghul's with understanding.

"I wonder if you knew, when you fashioned a new story for yourself, what ripples you caused."

Ra's crossed the room, moving towards the ledge where Felicity stood.

"Did you know you could alter the destiny of others? Were you aware of the fury and confusion you left in your wake?"

He paused, not waiting for her to answer so much as just waiting.

"I wondered for a while if you were noble only, perhaps intending to save lives. I then considered that you might wish instead for destruction."

He flexed his hands.

"You've caused both, you know. Death and life. Your presence in this place, in this story, has ended lives that would have lasted a bit longer. And, of course, you've extended some lives. I don't think that was your point though, was it?"

He tilted his head, watching her watch the water.

"You are strong, Miss Smoak. And you have fought for the life you've created thus far. But you won't be able to stop this plan. You cannot erase this. This... deviation from your destiny will not stop his destiny."

He stood beside her now, the broad shoulders of the Demon towering over her frame.

"So here is your chance to die again. And rise again, if you will. The Pit, you know, is more than just a life source. It resets a choice. It will allow you to return to your previous state. You can be who you were meant to be."

Ra's al Ghul gazed down at the water, mirroring her gaze.

"You have a good life waiting for you. You have a destiny; he has a destiny. Let your hold against it go."

He reached out, a shadow like curiosity crossing his face, rendering him almost human as his fingertips grazed the edge of her ponytail, where the lightest ends of her hair curled slightly.

"None of this is correct. You are not yourself, you are in a story that is not yours. Wouldn't you prefer what was written for you?"

She turned.

The knife slid seamlessly between his third and fourth ribs, up to the hilt, the royal purple of Felicity's nails quickly hidden between the blood that began to flow from the side of the Demon.

Felicity Smoak spoke:

"No."

The body of former Ra's al Ghul collapsed on the ledge, as Felicity Smoak walked away.
