Phineas and Ferb had been nearly tackled to the ground when they had found Candace walking home from the Google-Plex Mall. Many tears had been shed, and the three were soon joined by Isabella, Baljeet, and even Buford. They had been putting up 'lost children' signs everywhere, and had been just about ready to burst into tears over the missing optimistic voice, and the strong silent presence.
The boys had been taken home at once by Candace and their friends, and many more tears flowed once Lawrence and Linda caught sight of their children. There were many embraces, many stories told, and many more streams of precious emotion. Phineas and Ferb were immediately taken into the kitchen and given food, Phineas having all of his scratches and bruises fixed up.
The make-up that the madman had given him had been rubbed away, so the full extent of the redhead's torture could be clearly seen. The family was shocked upon hearing that their youngest could no longer talk, but that only made them love and embrace him more. Ferb smiled internally. The madman had broken them at all. He had made them stronger.
Phineas had burst into tears upon seeing Perry again, and the two hadn't left each other's side for the entirety of the time since they had encountered each other. The redhead carried the platypus around in his arms, the monotreme occasionally resting around the boy's shoulders.
Isabella, being ultimately overwhelmed by the fact that she had nearly lost her long-time best friend, had proceeded to tell him that night about her undying passion for him. It had taken the boy by shock, for he didn't quite know how he had felt about her at that time. The girl had not been upset by that in the least, knowing that the redhead had just gone through something utterly traumatizing. The two had hugged and become closer friends than they had ever been before. Buford and Baljeet had paid their visits two both Ferb and Phineas, Baljeet instantly losing himself, and even Buford shedding a tear or two.
Ferb smiled to himself as he thought these events over. He stared at the book in his hands, his feet poking out from under the bedsheets. He had tried to go to sleep, but the events of the previous week continuously haunted him. They had been this close to never coming back. He had been so close to losing Phineas.
Phineas.
The Brit looked over to his little brother, who was softly tossing and turning under the soft, comforting blankets. They did nothing to sooth the grinning night terrors that plagued him every night. Ferb was overcome by sympathy and gently padded over to his brother's bed, making no sound as he sat down on the rim. Phineas had always had the more vivid imagination, so that did nothing to make the terror of his nightmares any less real.
Ferb tenderly shook the redhead's shoulder, the boy bolting upright in panic as he scrambled into the headboard of his bed, trying desperately to get away from whatever it was chasing him this time. Phineas nearly whacked Ferb in the face, since the Brit was already so close to the boy.
"Shh, shh, it's all right, Phin," Ferb said, putting his hands up in defense. "Nothing's going to get you. He's gone. It's all over."
It took the boy a minute to regain his breath, but when he did, Ferb's arms were filled with a ball of tears and shivers. It was all Ferb could do to keep from breaking down, himself. Memories floated back into his mind, but he shoved them out and wrapped his arms around his brother.
"I promise, I will never lose you again, and you'll never lose me," he said, voice like silk in the ears of the redhead. Ferb felt Phineas weakly nod and pull himself away from the teenager. Phineas rubbed his sapphire tears away, eyes glinting in the light that poured in gently from the window.
Ferb adjusted himself so that he was lying right next to the younger, Phineas watching him do so before doing the same.
"You want to know why that madman couldn't break us?"
Phineas gazed curiously up at Ferb, despite a shiver traveling through his body at the mention of that despicable human. Ferb smiled warmly down at the redhead. "Because the bond that we have is stronger than any evil that he could do. Therefore, we can never be separated forever. Right?"
Ferb watched as a smile of pure gratitude spread across Phineas' face, and the boy scooted closer to his brother, burying his head into the Brit's pajama shirt. Ferb grinned to himself as his mind was overwhelmed by every memory that his friends and little brother had been and were in. Memories of inventions and innocent laughter tinkled like bells, and perfect scenes of family and friends became the strongest force in the world. Ferb's smile grew as he closed his eyes, holding Phineas close.
Everything was going to be fine.
