A/N

So, saw the trailed for the Advanced Experiments DLC trailer for Beyond: Two Souls today and...yeah, not the only one to notice the similarities to Portal. Anyway, came up with this as a result.

Beyond: Two Portals

"Hello, and welcome to the Aperture Science Computer-aided Enrichment Centre."

The test subject didn't answer. In fact, a lot of test subjects remained silent, GLaDOS reflected. It was almost as if they were silent protagonists or something.

"The purpose of this exercise is to see if you and your fellow test subject are capable of problem solving in the field."

The test subject still remained silent. Searching her databanks, the AI remembered ATLAS and P-body – silent robots, but at least with some personality.

"You will have to use that meaty grey organ you call a brain, and keep your body temperature low under pressure. Your fleshy masters have designed this training course for you specifically, so do not let them down."

The test subject just stood there.

"In the event of being let down, gravity shall not kick in, but instead, all cake privileges will be denied."

The subject nodded. Cake. At least they could understand each other on that level. Even after being reprogrammed GLaDOS had come to prefer pie instead.

The test subject began moving. Walking, as GLaDOS observed, despite the 1,800 second time limit. For a moment, she was reminded of another test subject. One who had murdered her, yet had also done wonders for science. None of this supernatural, untestable non-science material. The whole manipulation of the friendly light line that unlocked the chamber's door notwithstanding.

"Perfect," GLaDOS said. "Please move into the next chamber, as the effects of prolonged exposure to light are not part of this test."

The subject…subjects was/were happy to oblige. They came to a wall of cubes, blocking her/their way to the next chamber.

"The symptoms most commonly produced by Enrichment Centre testing are superstition, perceiving inanimate objects as alive, and hallucinations."

The subject glanced up at her. And in her gut (or RAM, technically), GLaDOS could feel another set of eyes on her.

"The Enrichment Centre reminds you that the weighted companion cubes will never threaten to stab you-"

The wall of cubes went flying.

"And are incapable of feeling pain," GLaDOS continued. "If they were, they could say, 'do not feel sad for scattering us around the room. You monster."

The subject stood still. And GLaDOS felt her core temperature drop.

"Hello?" she asked. "Are you still there?"

Something hit her. Hard.

"I would not do that," the AI said. "That would only make your life worse somehow."

Something hit her again. Harder.

"Ow."

And again.

"This isn't brave, it's murder," GLaDOS protested. "What did I ever do to you?"

The fleshy subject didn't answer. The…other subject didn't answer either, but seemed to leave her. At least he did after sending her personality cores flying in all directions before returning to his host. And in turn, she headed to the next chamber.

"Was it worth it?" GLaDOS asked. "Because despite your violent behaviour, the only thing you managed to break so far is my heart."

And my personality cores you murderer.

And still, the subject kept walking. Into test chamber three.

Monster.
