Animal Magic
"But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you" – Job 12:7

A/N: Castiel is down, but not out.
Unbroken
"His answer to every problem, every setback was "I will work harder!" - which he had adopted as his personal motto" – 'Animal Farm', George Orwell
"Well, well, well. If it isn't the little pigeon with broken wings," sneered Crowley.
Castiel bristled and pulled himself to his feet. Struggling a little to keep his balance, he grabbed hold of a nearby tree to stop swaying. Legs trembling, unused to the effects of adrenaline, he stepped out in front of Dean, placing himself directly in the line of fire between the injured hunter and the King of Hell.
"I might not have much in the way of grace left, but I've still got more than enough to rain down the wrath of Heaven on you," he growled.

Tomcat
"And I want, and I need, and I lust, animal" –'Animal', Def Leppard
From the bowed head and furrowed brow, Castiel could tell that Dean's search for a cure to the witch's curse had been in vain. So he hated to be the bearer of more bad news.
"What do you mean 'he got out'?" Dean shrieked.
Castiel grimaced. "As a feline, your brother is quite fleet footed."
Dean dashed outside at the loud screeching from the alley behind their room, only to trudge back.
"Well, on the plus side, cat!Sam definitely has a way with the ladies. I'm just not sure I'll ever be able to look him in the eye again."

A/N: Dean's unhappy with the assigned help.
Not Taken in the Spirit that it's Intended
"A black cat crossing your path signifies that the animal is going somewhere" - Groucho Marx
"Friggin' animal spirit guides," Dean growled, slamming open the motel door.
"I mean, it makes sense that feathers here would get a pigeon," he ranted, jerking a thumb in Castiel's direction.
"I think you'll find it was a white dove," Castiel corrected, in a prissy tone.
Dean returned a betrayed expression. Sensing a smirk in the making, he turned on his brother. "Oh shut up, you... overgrown pussycat."
"Tiger," said Sam, trying not to laugh.
"So how come I got a donkey?" Dean whined.
"I thought it was a mule," added Castiel.
"Perhaps it should've been an ass," Sam muttered.
