There was a time in his miserable life that he had realished being immortal. The power, the alluring beauty, the strength. Yet now he dispised it. He loathed the never ending days and the weeks that seemed to turn into months so easily. Years seemed to pass by in a blink of an eye. Leaving no impression, and no spark of life. His dead heart felt just like that, dead. Where once the vampire life he once had was breath-taking and freeing, now it felt like a ball and chain, keeping him chained in a never ending time loop. Death did seem like an option but he did not hate his own exsistence so much as to harm the ones he now called family. He would never take his life from those he loved.

He knew they saw him struggling. Struggling to survive and to find the will to get through the days and weeks. His brothers, Aro and Marcus, tried to bring back the young man that their brother had once been. The young vampire who laughed freely, smiled often, and was the most carefree of the brothers. Now the young vampire seemed to have dissapeared he was replace with a man who acted twice his age, never smiled, and who laughed at only the darkess humor. As more humans were changed the vampire population grew ranging now in the ten-thousands. In this population Caius Volturi the youngest Volturi King, was know as an unforgiving tyrannt. He ruled with an iron fist and though the vampires of the world respected him, they also feared him. He was not know for being forgiving and he did not believe in second chances.

He was the King that was sent in the field when vampires started to act rashly, risking the exposure of their kind. It would never be a suprise to see Caius Volturi playing judge, jury, and executioner over a vampire who had broken a law. Most expected this. When all three Kings would show up in an area, most vampires knew what this meant. Someone had either created a new born army, or an immortal child both very dangerous, and very unstable. Creating one of these two things was against the law, and only had one outcome the death of the sire, and everyone involved.

This was why Caius Volturi and his two brothers found themselves in Pheniox, Arizona.

His brothers having gotten their luggage from baggage claim, had went to the car, and so Caius had stayed behind waiting for the bumbling airport worker to find his suitcase. To say the least, as he walked through the airport, he was not in a good mood. After thirty minutes the idioctic man had found his suitcase, and Caius was finally able to head to meet his brothers at the car.

Caius personally hated airports. He hated the people, the workers, and about everything else that came with the dreadful places. With all the people bumping into him, his temper started to rise. He was sneering, his unnaturally white teeth, peeking out under his lips. It was getting harder and harder to resist the urge to rip someone's head from the shoulders. So when there was a tug on the back of his pant leg he spun around angerliy, ready to tear someone to pieces, until he saw the little girl starring up at him.

His face softened slightly and he looked up and around searching for the parent that should be close by the their child. He saw no one. At least no one that seemed to be traveling with a child, or someone who resemmbled the small girl. He looked back down at her and he noticed with a great suprise the young girl was looking straight in his eyes. He had never seen anything like this child before. Most children scurried away as fast as their small legs could carry them when they saw him, and only his brothers were fearless enough to look him straight in the eyes.

Her voice was soft as she spoke. "Can you please help me."

She was small, a child that couldn't be any older than five years old. She had soft brown curls that framed her slightly chubby face and it gave a very strong look of innocence. Her eyes were a deep chocolate color, and in his opinion they would have been more beautiful if they weren't holding tears.

In a gesture so unlike himself, he smiled softly and croched down so he was at her eye level.

"What can I help you with mia stella?" With these words her lip started to tremble a little.

"I-I lost my mommy." She sniffled rubbing her small hand against her cheek ridding the tear that had managed to escape. " I needed to go potty, and - and I went out the wrong door." He smiled at the small girl once again and wiped away some tears that were now falling down her cheeks more freely.

"Okay mia stella." He said softly. "Do you know your mother's name?" She nodded biting her small lip between her teeth. A habit, he thought.

"Renee Morgan."

"What is your name?"

"Isabella Swan, b-but I go by Bella." A child of divorce. It had most likely happened when she was young as she didn't seemed bothered by her mother having a different last name.

"Well Miss Isabella, let us go find your mother, shall we." Bella frowned at the full use of her name, her nose scrunching only slightly, but she didn't say anything. Caius stood to his full height once more before looking around the airport, analysing the situation. The main desk was half way across the airport and with all the people in the airport Isabella was sure to get lost in the crowd. Caius vagually wonder how Isabella's mother hadn't lost in the crowd before Isabella had went out the wrong door. Caius thought for a moment before he best slightly and picked up the small girl. She let out a small gasp, clutching onto the back cloth of his Italian suit. When Caius situated her so she was comfortable on his hip, he grabbed the handle on his suitcase.

It took ten minutes before Caius and Isabella made it to the front desk. Caius managed not to lose his temper at all. A few people bumped into him but he managed not to lose his temper, he knew that if he lost his temper he could hurt Isabella, so he kept his temper in check.

When they arrived at the desk a women in her late thirites was siting behind the desk. She looked up at them and her eyes glossed over as soon as her eyes fell on Caius, he resisted the urge to roll his eyes.

"Hello, can you call for Isabella Swan's mother Renee Morgan." The woman's eye came back into focus and her eyes finally fell on Isabella. Her nose twitched with disgust, and yet again Caius felt his temper rise. "Can you call for her? Today?" He snapped. The women had the decency to look ashamed before she hit the intercom button on the phone and announced over the intercom for Isabella's mother.

Isabella hid her face in Caius' neck, the woman at the desk was staring at her. Caius glared at the woman, and she hastily looked down at the desk.

Caius was soon distracted by an eccentric red head running up to Caius

"Bella, baby!" She cried. Isabella looked up from Caius' neck and she smiled.

"Mommy?" Caius let Isabella down and she ran to her mother's outstreched arms. With her daughter wrapped saftly in her arms, Renee looked to Caius and smiled silently thanking the stranger for finding her daughter and returning her saftly to the worried mother. Caius nodded in return and grabbed the handle of his suitcase. Renee found herself shock as her usually shy daughter pulled herself from her mother's arm and ran to Caius. She barreled into him and wrapped her arms around his legs. She smiled looking up at the man, and to his suprise he found himself smiling back.

"Thank you mister." She said smiling. He bent down to her level.

"Try not to get lost again young Isabella." She nodded and looked back to her mother. She looked back at him and smiled once more before running back to her mother.

When Caius finally met his brothers at the car Aro had taken off his blazer and was leaning against the limo. He looked at Caius and glared.

"Caius you're an hour and a half late." Caius rolled his eyes and put his suitcase in the trunk. When he slid into the limo followed by Aro, Marcus was staring at him. Caius glared at him.

"What?" Marcus smiled.

"Someday you'll see."

Hello guys! I'm working to make my stories better, so here is the new Preface for 13 Years. Personally I like this a lot better.
