Everything was sorted out now more or less. Clothes packed as well as a majority of her possessions. Already sent to their destination. Having not met them again in person, Elaine had only called her parents about two weeks previous to let them know she was moving. Her mother had no troubles with it, though her father had tried to talk her out of it. Not too much he could do though. She was a grown woman for God's sake!

She admitably was hesitant in regards to whether or not it would be a good idea to sell her home and everything inside. But thinking it over, if something did happen, with the money in her account plus the money she would get for her home, she didn't think she would have much problems if she found herself needing to rent or buy a place to live in, along with some money in a separate gathering interest.

She made sure to get hold of a reference after resigning from the museum. She was only quitting so she would be able to travel the world freely with Descole (and considering she had missed less than three years of work, it didn't make too much difference really). It might have been a bit of an insane move, but with the reference, she would still be able to find a job worse came to worse for her and Descole somehow. She would still have some level of firm ground on then.

Was it bad of her though? To give up much just so she could live with Descole? Hopefully for the rest of her life? Maybe just a little. But she was prepared. She would be able to find a new home and job if she and Descole ended things, as said before. And it's not like she was giving up archaeology. She was going to be doing more of it around the world.

She wasn't sure when she would be back in London again, but one last walk around had sounded like a good idea. It was close to summer's end. Autumn would be setting in shortly. But the trees Elaine did pass did retain their green.

She didn't stop for much during her walk. Though after deciding to have lunch, she popped into a newsagent to pick up a paper to read and after picking up her usual copy had left just as quickly. Nearby, she spotted a woman wearing a peach dress pushing a pram. The baby inside had just thrown their toy out on the side so Elaine went to pick up the toy (a fluffy sheep), coincidently at the same time as the woman.

"Oh, deso…" Elaine trailed off as she got a good look at the woman. Long, blondish brown hair, blue grey eyes and a face she had seen before. Albeit a little younger.

"Are you all right?" the woman asked kindly. "You seem a little distracted."

"Oh, no. Desole, I was just, er… You look like someone I knew who… passed away recently," Elaine explained. "Desole, I saw your baby throw 'er toy out so I thought I should give it back in case you didn't notice."

"Thank you. Little Emma loves her sheepy," the woman said, cooing to the baby as she handed the toy back. "Though she sometimes forgets that she can't just throw things about like that outside the house."

"That's kids I suppose," Elaine chuckled. "'Ave you lived in London long?"

"My husband and I just moved her last year. We thought it would be a good place to raise our baby. And yourself?"

"A few years, but I'm actually leaving today. Going to see the world with my boyfriend."

"That sounds exciting. I hope your trip goes well."

"I'm sure it will. … Um, Apologies if this sounds rude, but, what's your name?"

"My name? It's Elizabeth. Why?"

"Just curious. My name's Elaine," said Elaine, before glancing down to the baby, Emma. She seemed to mimic her mother in hair and eye colour. "Your baby is cute. 'Opefully any I 'ave will just be as cute."

"I think all babies are adorable. Though my sister, Beatrice, tends to think that only a select few are while the rest are ugly," Elizabeth chuckled. "My husband, Peter, thinks a bit closer to me though. He absolutely dots on Emma."

"And for good reason. Oh, I'm probably keeping you from something. I should let you go now. Desole about that."

"Don't worry. It's nice to talk to people, even when their complete strangers. We might be lucky to meet again, anyway."

Byes said, Elaine stay in her spot to watch Elizabeth walk away, cooing at her gurgling baby. It was only when Elizabeth walked around a corner did Elaine finally leave to find one of her favourite café's.

That woman. She looked like Aurora. Had the Azrans really granted her wish? If so, why was she an adult now? Had there been a little time travel involved? Although, the baby was a girl, and it did seem to share a few traits with 'Elizabeth' and Aurora. Maybe Elizabeth's resemblance was a complete coincidence and Aurora was actually Emma now. Either were likely. That couldn't be denied.

Aurora was human now though. She got to live a happy life.

Inside her café of choice, Elaine sat at a table a little further away from the other customers and looked through her paper as she drank tea and ate a few sandwiches.

Inspector Grosky got promoted for arresting Leon Bronev, as well as a few other leading members of Targent. That was good to see. He did deserve it.

Leon Bronev was sentenced yesterday. Taking into his account that he was remorseful, had pleaded guilty and had originally been kidnapped by Targent along with his wife, he was sentenced to thirty years in prison. With a possibility of a reduced sentence if he showed good behaviour.

It was good to see that no one from Froenburg had died. Apparently around the time she and Desmond arrived to enter the sanctuary, there had been an avalanche warning so everyone was evacuated. It was a tremendous amount of luck for those people, who were currently still repairing their home.

The Professor seemed to have gained fame now, though Elaine figured he would remain humble about it all. It was in his nature.

Strangely, there was no mention of Descole, nor Desmond. She would have thought that would have been added. Maybe the Professor kept quiet about that? Maybe more so about Desmond and Elaine's exact involvement and disappearance. A bit of a strange thing. Maybe the Professor did it out of some kind of respect? Or maybe as a type of thank you for what Desmond did for him as children? Any possibility seemed likely, though Elaine didn't expect Desmond and Professor Layton to be keen on letting the world know they were estranged brothers. Maybe they could reconcile one day. But for now, having time to cool off from the events of the Azran legacy expedition seemed like a must.

There wasn't anything else of interest in the paper. There weren't any names she recognised in the obituary, thank goodness. She knew no Blakes, Evans or Barons named Reinhold.

Even with her tea and sandwiches finished, had waited until she finished her paper before she stood up.

"Excuse me? Are you finished with that paper?" Elaine looked up to see a young man in his early twenties, who actually (much to Elaine's bemusement) looked like an older version of Luke, holding his own cup of tea. "I meant to pick up a paper but it must have slipped my mind."

"Sure, 'ere." Elaine handed him the paper.

"Thank you."

"No problem." Elaine stood, intending to leave but hesitated a moment and asked, "Desole, but, you wouldn't 'appen to be related to the Triton family, would you?" The young man looked a bit surprised but shuck his head.

"I'm sorry, but no. I'm Clive Dove."

"Ah, pardon moi. It's just that you look a bit like their son I know, Luke," Elaine explained. "I figured since my own cousin and I look so much alike, it might 'ave been the same for you." The man looked a little amused.

"Oh, really? I look like I could be related to him?"

"Maybe even a twin if you were younger or 'e was younger," Elaine said in a lightly joking tone, and Clive had to chuckle a bit.

"It's a bit funny then. It's not every day you see two people who look alike but are completely unrelated. Interesting too, though"

"It is, isn't it?" Elaine glanced to the clock. "Well, I best be off now. I 'ave to meet some people at the Natural 'Istory Museum in fifteen minutes."

"Have a pleasant day," Clive said. Giving her own goodbye, Elaine left the café to get to her last stop of the day.

It was a little after three when Elaine had the Natural History Museum in her sights. A little closer, and Elaine could finally see the people she was expecting and lightly jogged to them.

"Salut," Elaine chirped as she wrapped her arms around Desmond from behind in a brief hug. "Miss me?"

"A little, though we were plotting to leave you behind," Desmond replied in a flat tone, though a joking glint was in his eyes.

"It was papa's idea, I said no because I'm not mean," Johanna spoke up. "But we can look inside the museum now, right?"

"Of course, sweet heart. We're just going in later than expected because Miss Elaine decided to be late."

"I was 'aving lunch, and reading the news," Elaine huffed. "You're right, Johanna. Your papa IS mean!"

"I have no idea what you are on about," Desmond said, giving a slight pout.

"'Ow about we go inside, like Johanna wants before it gets too late?" Elaine suggested as she put an arm around Desmond's shoulder and began walking towards the museum doors with him and Johanna. "Where's Raymond?"

"I'm not sure, but we're meeting him around King's Cross Station around half six." Elaine nodded and then asked Desmond in a quieter voice so Johanna wouldn't hear,

"So what did the doctor say? About your burn wound?" After Desmond saw that doctor living not too far from him, he recommended seeing a doctor in London. Something he had done today while Elaine had been spending her last couple of weeks here.

"He said I might not end up needing a skin graph, but he gave me some stuff to rub on my back and scheduled me for an appointment next month. If it hasn't gotten any better by then, well, it's the skin graph. But he thinks I should be good."

"Bottom line, you're mostly fine and that's all I care about."

"That should be the case, more or less." Desmond pecked her cheek. "Also, I was doing some research while you were gone, and I was thinking that for our first trip, we could head to an abandoned castle in Germany. The locals in a close by village believe it to be haunted. It might sound a little simple, but the stories of it have peaked some interest in me. I have all the notes at home for you to look at yourself."

"I'll be sure to look at them when we do." Elaine was already looking forward to it. She knew Desmond wouldn't pick anything if there was no possibility of anything interesting. "I'm certain it will be a good start to our great adventure."

"As am I." Desmond put an arm around Elaine's shoulder. "I'm glad you're with us, puppy."

"As am I, Dessy," Elaine said as Desmond opened the door for her and Johanna. "As am I."
