Okay guys I'm back in business. Sorry for the wait I've been writing my English Extension 2 story that has absolutely drained me. But I figured I needed a break (and a bit of fun) so I have come back from the depths of fanfic writers block! This was a request from queenlaur so thank you so much! For the others who also have given my prompts of this arc they are well on their way! I swear on my all my stories or let them be burnt to ashes...I better get cracking then. Onward it is.

SWIMMING 102

Jack eyed the penguin. The penguin eyed Jack. Its blue ribbon fluttered in the polar winds that were soaring past them. The starring contest didn't last long. Nimbus waddled over to the icy shore of Antarctica and squawked.

"Fine! But if I go swimming you go flying later on, deal?"

His answer was his favourite pet ruffling his feathers.

"Alrighty. You're the expert, what should I do?" Jack asked.

After his last try at the whole swimming thing he decided rabbits weren't made for the water and needed help from an animal that is. It was also an excuse to; one miss the Guardian meeting or at least run late to it, two visit Nimbus and three try and do this alone with anyone watching or embarrassing him. Jack glared at the dark waters. They weren't clear like the pools at the Tooth Palace. These waters were like murky ink and Jack knew they concealed all the terrors of oceans underneath. Jack's attention had been souly on the despising water that he didn't realise Nimbus had already slid into the water. Suddenly the penguins head popped out right in front of Jack.

"Ahh!"

Jack fell. Not backwards but forwards. The motion was retching. His eyes jammed shut and his shattering scream was all he heard before the water took all his senses away. All except touch. He could feel the icy liquid squirming around his skin like maggots. Jack was sure it was entering his mouth and his lungs and his blood and his brain and every inch of his being. The dim light that bobbed about is a smudge, the sun, was slowly growing smaller and smaller. Jack was drowning. His sobs though only added to the intake of water in his lungs. Finally his sense of touch waned out too. As it did though Jack could have sworn he felt a flipper.

Nimbus had seen Jack Frost fall into the water. In fact the boy had fallen on top of him! He watched curiously as the featherless human splashed about. Nimbus thought it meant he was happy. He liked to splash around when he was happy. Then Jack had begun to sink. This boy really was bad at swimming! Nimbus waited patiently for his Jack to return to the surface. This was the way he was taught. Dive head first into the water. Nimbus was forgetting something though. Jack was not a penguin. He plunged under the water and scooped up the now unconscious teen and with some help from his friends Jack was on the ice again in no time. What would take time though was the fact Jack waking up.

Jack coughed once, twice, ten times and spewed out what seemed like the whole Southern Ocean! Nimbus cooed at him but he just fell back asleep. Naturally Nimbus would be there when Jack woke up. Naturally so too would Nimbus's friends. Naturally most of them, especially Nimbus would be sitting on his chest.

Jack glared at his penguin. The penguin merely squawked and flapped his flippers impatiently. After the last disaster Jack had spent the next three days curled up in a ball in a cave silently crying to himself and cursing penguins. However he was determined to do this with Nimbus. He had learnt not to take his eyes off the cute animal and Nimbus had learnt; one not to scare Jack or pop up out of the water suddenly, two not to take his eyes off him and have extra pairs of eyes on him, hence the crowd of penguins surround them and three Jack Frost was an awful swimmer.

"Okay buddy let's try this again. Show me how it's done."

Nimbus slid into the water and swam back and forth in front of the boy who sat cross legged on the shore. Nimbus exaggerated the movement of his flippers, the dipping of his body to make sure Jack didn't miss a thing.

"Okay I think I've got it."

Nimbus stopped swimming to watch his favourite human dip his toes into the deathly cold waters. Instantly that toe was out. Nimbus squawked and slashed.

"Hey! Knock it off. I sound like Bunny. Now look what you've done. I'm turning into a kangaroo!"

The penguin paused then continued to splash.

"No you're right it's not your fault…it's the waters fault! It's poisoning my brain, making turn into Bunny! Nope I'm not doing this. No, no, no…Ahh! Nimbus!"

The supervising penguins were now crowding around Jack, pressing their slippery feathery bodied up against him edging him back towards the water. Thankful to still have a slim grip on his staff, Jack rocketed out of the pack of penguins and hovered just out of their reach.

"Nimbus this is your fault."

The penguin merely shrugged.

Jack decided to quit swimming with penguins for a while. However every time he visited he learnt the penguins hadn't quit on him. This was quickly fixed when he began to bring fish. He would get in the water eventually, but maybe having human company might be a bit safer. He should try the north pole. There aren't any penguins up there. Jack fell asleep watching Nimbus flying out of the water. Nimbus saw that Jack had fallen asleep so naturally he took up his place on Jack's chest. He would be able to swim with his friend soon.

Short and sweet I hope. Fingers crossed and I promise Jack will get in the water properly at some point, willingly or not. Stay tuned!
