As the two men and girl waiting, the older two did random things. They played I spy, a few games of war, tic-tac-toe, board games they found hidden in Shane's cluttered apartment.

"Dad I'm hungry." said the young boy.

"So am I." replied the father.

Judith seemed to agree with the males.

In the next few minutes, they had agreed on pizza. Rick started to ransack the apartment's cabinets and drawers for a take-out menu. Carl, successfully, retrieved the phone out from under the large pile of papers and miscellaneous things.

During this time, the twelve and three day month old, she knew what they were doing. They had mentioned the word "food" and her mouth began to salivate. For only being a year old, she could still love her pizza, which was another word she heard them say.

The word "pizza" related to a soft, sauce-y, cheesy substance that she knew was food and it was good.

"A-ha!" whisper-shouted Rick, menu in hand.

Carl handed his father the phone. The older man clicked in the numbers and listened to the other end ring.

Ring, ring, ring.

The other end picked up.

"Hello this is Hunter. What would you like?"

As Rick talked to the young man named Hunter, Carl walked back to Judy who was sitting on the floor, playing with her favorite stuffed animal.

Judith was into doing whatever she was doing with her toy and a piece of string she had found, the child almost did not notice her brother walk over and sit next to her.

"So what are you doing Judy?" asked Carl.

The girl looked over at him with her pretty blue eyes; the ones Mom said would be the heart breaking eyes. They reminded Carl of his father's eyes.

Breaking Carl out of his mini-trance, the small girl picked up the stuffed purple, pink, and blue polka-dotted elephant.

"Playing with your elephant?"

She nodded and went back to playing with the mysterious piece of string. The brunette stared at his little sister act as if her elephant was diving. The scene brought a smile to his face.

He was so caught up in Judith, that he didn't even hear his father get off of the phone with the twenty-two year old, known as Hunter. Rick looked over at his children bonding. He, deep down, knew it would be hard parenting two kids without Lori, she was better at this after all she was the oldest child and took care of her younger siblings.

Rick was an only child so he had little to zero child experience when Carl was born. But he was easy to rise; he never screamed as a child. Never seemed to do really anything bad, Rick thought back when Carl was small like Judy. One thing Carl loved to do was to steal his father's hat.

The cowboy hat with the large brim never seemed to fit seemed to fit the boy. It is actually still big on him.

The large white room with a wood floor was silent and stayed silent for a bit as Judy was playing with Carl watching her attentively, and Rick standing by the kitchen island, thinking about an easier time.

Carl was even thinking of simpler times as he watched his sister. Watching the girl, he began to feel warm and fuzzy inside. Was this love?

He thought it was. It fact he had never loved anyone except for his family and a 'few' celebrities that he 'got' over.

Rick felt pride in his children, even though Judith was only one and Carl hasn't really done anything for his father to have pride. But he still held it proudly. He could still have pride even if they couldn't talk or anything.

That's just how much he loved these kids.

They stayed like this until there was a knock at the door. Carl adjusted himself on the floor while Rick opened the door to a young Asian oriented boy. The boy's name tag read 'Glenn'.

The boy handed Rick the pizza and awaited the money. There was going to be more orders to deliver, like always.

Glenn, when he applied to the job, didn't think that there was going to be so many orders made in a 10 minute period. The Asian male knew this apartment. It was usually a man with a semi-crooked nose and would always call and ask for him.

Before Glenn left Rick to his devices, he said, "Who are you? The new Clint Eastwood, coming up to clean out the town?"

Rick had had this type of behavior before, and it was usually with people that have dealt with his friend.

"Shane, huh?" Rick inquired.

"Yeah." huffed out the orient.

"I know what you're dealing with. Just think, you're not the one that is gonna live with him." Rick said, trying to made Glenn feel better.

Glenn shuddered and took the money, with a tip for his distress, and left.

Rick shut the door and got his small family situated for lunch. He cut up the pizza for the baby and set it in front of her on Judy's highchair they brought.

After they finished, Carl searched for the remote for at least half an hour. Finally finding it, they stole Shane's couch and turned on the TV.

A couple hours later, they had all fallen asleep watching The Wizard of Oz. The apartment's door handle started to jiggle. And the door opened.

Shane walked in and seen the sleeping family. Rick had heard the door, he was a light sleeper, and woke up.

"Where were you, brother?" asked a groggy Rick.

"I was out." stated Shane.

"Were you hitting on the clerk at the earring place in the mall again?" Rick asked with what Carl said Shane probably would be doing.

"Maybe." Shane answered slyly.

They moved away from that topic and onto when Rick was going to start work at the station.

"Who is going to watch the kids when I'm gone?" Rick asked.

"Carl is old enough, but Judith is going to have to be put in daycare." Shane came to a solution.

"But who is going to watch them together when we're out?" Rick inquired.

"So there's a bulletin board downstairs where you can post things, so post a babysitting job paper thing. Or you can ask the girls in room 7-J to babysit. There should say yes."

"I think I'd rather go with the 'ask the girls' plan. And how do you know about the girls in 7-J?" Rick became suspicious of his friend.

"They moved in like 3 months ago. The younger one is 14 and I have no clue how old the other one is, but she is pretty. For sure." explained Shane.

"Buddy, you should know that that doesn't explain enough." Rick said.

"Yeah, but you are gonna have to deal with it, Rick." stated Shane as he walked out of the room, leaving Rick to wonder when he was going to visit the 7-J girls.
