Thank you SO MUCH cindella204.
Magnus wheezed and pulled his black beanie down farther over his ears. He sat back on the cold cafeteria chair and folded his arms, scoping the vast room for his mother. His throat was raw from coughing and puking, but he was feeling better now. He knew it wouldn't last, though, and he wanted something sweet before he felt like shit again.
"Here," his mother appeared behind him and passed him a tall vanilla milkshake.
"Oh God, thank you!" Magnus took a big swig of the drink and sighed, letting it melt in his mouth. "How's my cat?"
He watched his mom sit down across from him and take a sip of her own drink-coffee, he assumed, to keep her awake. She had't slept in a while. "He's a cat."
"Yes, but how is he? I know he's a cat. Does he miss me?" Magnus rolled his eyes.
"Um, he's fine. He's good, I mean. Good. Good cat. How're you feeling?"
"I'm fab, mom. Got my milkshake and my cat's doing good and so I'm fab." Magnus smiled.
"I'm serious, Magnus."
"Mom, honestly? I have cancer, answer that question yourself." Magnus took another sip of his milkshake.
His mom pursed her lips. "Excuse me," she murmured, standing. Magnus snorted as she hurried away, probably back to his room to cry. He supposed he should be more sympathetic, but he was the one with stage III lymphoma, not her. Not her. Magnus chuckled, setting down his milkshake. Not her. He laughed to himself and went to stand up. His stomach lurched.
"Oh, fuck."
