This is always the most requested fic for some reason and I know its been about 20 years since I've posted but this week just seemed like a fitting time.

Four years ago this week I decided I had been hounded long enough on here and finally joined twitter.

so for my original girls, those who were talking about me on twitter before I had even joined, those who were leaving me always leaving me comments about my fics and then telling me to join etc. my fellow bensidy shippers who for some reason still follow me even tho I'm the most annoying human on the planet; Blake, Hayley, Imani, Sara and the rest of you, this is for you.

Give me your love and I'll give you my world
It ain't much, but it might be enough
I said, "Hey babe, let's fall in love"

"You mom's back this week right?" Brian handed his wife a plate for her to dry, flicking bubbles at her in the process

"Don't even start" Olivia grinned, slapping his arm "Yeah her flight lands on Thursday morning" She told him, putting the now dry dish back in its place in the cupboard.

Her mother had taken herself off on vacation for the past few weeks. She still had no idea that her daughter was expecting her third child. They had agreed not to tell anyone until the doctor had given both Olivia and the baby the all clear and by that time, Serena was already gone. The only people who knew besides Brian and Olivia were Cragen, Casey and the kids. Olivia had yet to tell the rest of the squad the news. It didn't feel right telling them before her mother.

She didn't feel as guilty this time around as she did with the last two pregnancies. She had worked as long as she could during both pregnancies, feeling guilt-ridden that she would be leaving the three of them in the lurch when she went off with the baby, but not this time. The squad had just brought in another detective, Nick Amaro and there was word of them maybe hiring another but there was nothing definite.

"You go relax, I've got this" Brian tried to get his wife to relax but he knew it was pointless, she was still wired from her shift and insisted on helping him clear up since he had taken the kids for the whole day.

Olivia had been called into work for a case; a young boy had run away from home and was taken in by a shopkeeper who called the police. Her heart broke for the little boy as he cried and told her and Amaro that his daddy was being mean to his mommy and he didn't want to hear the shouting anymore. It ended up with the father being arrested and a restraining order put in place.

It also meant that she'd had to call Brian over last minute to watch the kids, luckily he had a day off as he had been working for almost four days straight trying to coordinate a drug bust.

She had arrived home just under an hour ago while Brian was bathing their children; he had left her some dinner and continued to occupy the kids so she could eat in peace without being hounded by their excitable kids. He also moved her out of the way when he came back to the kitchen to find her washing up, telling her to relax but of course she couldn't.

"Are you finally going to tell her about junior?" He asked, scrubbing an oven dish in the soapy water.

"Well I didn't want to tell her over the phone" She threw back, a hint of anger in her voice.

"I get that" He nodded, placing the last remaining dish on the rack by the sink to drip dry. "But you're coming up seventeen weeks, the kids already know…"

"It's a big deal, Brian…"

"You don't think I know that?" He remarked cutting her off. He took the cloth from her and dried his hands "She's gonna know as soon as she sees you anyway"

"What? I'm hardly showing" Olivia ran her hand over her middle; the tiny bump that was beginning to form was well hidden beneath her loose fitting shirt.

"Not much, but its there" He smiled, slowly reaching for the loop of her work slacks, pulling her closer, his fingers moving beneath the shirt and slowly caressing her firm skin.

"I can't believe we're doing it again." She laughed, nodded back to the two children the already had who were both sitting on the same armchair, wrapped in one of Zach's blankets watching a movie.

"Well those two aren't so bad" Brian shrugged and chuckled while moving to fill the kettle with water and put it on to boil.

"You should go get changed," He said, "They've been fed and bathed, you've been fed…"

"Ha-ha." Olivia rolled her eyes and shoved him back against the counter, moving with him when he caught his arm around her waist, pulling her body firmly against him.

"Not in front of the kids" She murmured as their lips met.

"No offence babe, they care more about some cartoon monsters than they do about us right now" He nodded back to where the kids were giggling while watching Monsters Inc.

"Hmm, true" She whispered, her hands pulling his head towards her, their lips clashing once more, Brian's hands began to wander and Olivia could feel her body heat soar.

They pulled back for air and Olivia removed herself from his arms "I need to get out of these work clothes…"

"You need any help with that?" Brian grinned as his wife laughed as she walked away.

"I'll be fine" She replied as she turned and made her way towards her bedroom.

He quickly cleared up the rest of the kitchen and made Olivia a cup of peppermint tea; she was over the worst of the nausea but still got hit hard with it after eating. He made his way into the living room and sat himself on the couch.

"Mosters, daddy" Lennon pointed at the TV as the multi-coloured characters ran across the screen. Her voice was slightly slurred as her body betrayed her fight against sleep.

"I see that" He nodded "Are you ready for bed?"

"No yet" She shook her head and curled herself further into the cushions.

He had barely noticed Olivia had entered the room until she sat beside him and picked up the steaming mug from the coffee table "Is this mine?" He nodded and smiled as she sat back and got herself comfortable, her arm resting across her middle where their third child was currently growing.

Although he still hadn't moved back in to the family home yet, he and Olivia were still working through their issues but it was times like this that the separation seemed non-existent.

"We'll get them over and tell them together." Olivia said quietly, trying not to interrupt their children's movie.

"What?"

"My mom, your mom, tell them both together." Olivia suggested, "You should phone Jane as well, she needs to know."

His step-mom had gone back to their home in California almost immediately after the funeral. He felt guilty that she was over there by herself now that his father was gone. Jane had been a part of his life for almost twenty years, she had been there at his graduation from the police academy, she had been at their wedding, and the birth of their children, the kids knew her as 'grandma Jane'.

"Yeah, we could Skype her, she'd love to see the kids"

"Sounds good" Olivia smiled "Hopefully the wont be mad that we've left it this long to tell them"

"They wont. After everything that's happened they'll be glad of some happiness" Brian told her "Anyway, it cant be as bad as the first time we told your mom you were pregnant right?"

Five years previous:

.

"Mom?" Olivia knocked against the front door of her mother's apartment "Mom, its me. Open the door"

"Maybe she's out?" Brian suggested, his voice quiet as he saw the rage build in Olivia's eyes.

"Or she's just wasted again" She replied, her voice harsh as she banged her fist against the door once more.

The couple heard a faint muttering from the inside "Told you" Olivia rolled her eyes.

"Maybe this isn't the best idea, you heard the doctor, you shouldn't get too stressed" Brian held her arm as the footsteps from inside the apartment got louder.

"She needs to know. She's my mom"

"I'm not saying she doesn't, Liv. But if she's that wasted is she even going to remember…"

"What the hell do you want?" Olivia rolled her eyes at the state of her mother. Serena Benson was drunk, again. It didn't surprise Olivia; she had been dealing with her mother in this state for as long as she could remember.

Some of her earliest memories were of her mother crying on the kitchen floor, an almost empty bottle of vodka sat on the table, a young Olivia trying to help her mom get up and into bed. Serena would cry and pull her young daughter in for a hug, the pair of them crushed together on the cold linoleum floor, Serena running her fingers through Olivia's dark hair, telling her she was sorry and that she was just having a 'bad day'.

Serena Benson had a lot of bad days.

"Hi mom"

"Olivia…who're you?" Serena moved her gaze from her daughter to the man who was by stood her side holding her hand "You're screwing my daughter?"

"Mom! Are you kidding me right now?" Olivia scolded her mother.

"You might as well come in then?" Serena moved out of the way and walked back into the apartment.

"I'm sorry" Olivia mouthed towards Brian. They hadn't even been together that long, he knew her mother was an alcoholic, Olivia had confided in him almost two months ago the reasons as to how her very existence came to be and that she was practically the reason that her mother was the way she was.

Brian just squeezed her hand in his and followed her into the place she used to call home.

The apartment was dark and smelled of cigarette smoke, it was the middle of the day but most of the drapes were pulled shut, just a few slivers of light breaking through the gaps. There were newspapers on the coffee table and the arm of the sofa as well as an almost full ashtray and a couple of empty glasses.

"So what are you here for?" Serena grumbled as she pulled a couple of magazines and papers from the couch, clearing a space for her daughter and the man she brought over.

"How are you, mom?" Olivia asked politely

"Fine, now why are you here?" Serena pushed, sitting herself down in the armchair at the end of the table.

Olivia rolled her eyes and ran her hands through her hair. She hated when her mother was like this. There were times when she was drunk that she wasn't actually that bad to be around, when she could actually be described as a nice person, clearly today wasn't one of those days.

"Oh don't do that, Olivia, don't roll your eyes at me, I'm the mother remember."

"Yeah some mother, look at you, I haven't seen or spoken to you in almost three months, every time I call you're 'busy' or you don't even bother to answer."

"Liv…" Brian put his arm on his girlfriend's knee, trying to remind her not to get too worked up.

"And who are you anyway?" Serena pointed her half smoked cigarette towards Brian. "You don't look like someone my daughter would date" She chuckled "Not that I've met any of the guys she's been with"

"Mom, shut up." Olivia growled. Brian began to feel more uncomfortable as the seconds passed, clearly this had been a bad idea but Olivia was determined to tell her mother her news, somewhere deep down hoping that it would help her change her ways but she wasn't one for ever getting her hopes up.

"Eh, I'm Brian" He spoke, his hand still on Olivia's knee, now clasped between both of her hands, he could feel her grip tightening around his fingers. "And yeah, we're together. It's been almost a year"

"And you're here to collect your medal?" Serena laughed and stubbed out her cigarette.

"And I'm pregnant, mom. That's why we're here." Olivia stood up and ran her hands over her face "God I don't even know why I came here. I actually thought you'd care. I thought that maybe this wouldn't be so bad, I would tell you and you would be happy, excited even. But I guess that's just me being stupid and idealistic again right? I always did have a great imagination"

Brian watched as Olivia stormed off and slammed the door behind her, he got to his feet, nervously brushing his hands against his jeans as Serena sat in silence, staring at the space her daughter was previously sitting.

"She's terrified," He said quietly. Serena turned her attention towards him, her eyes glazed over, a look of confusion and what he imagined was concern.

"We haven't really been together long, I mean we've worked together for almost three years now, but we've only really been a couple for about a year?" Even he questioned the timing; the start of their relationship was just drunken sex every now and then, but somewhere along the way the lines got blurred; he developed feelings long before she did and asked her to make a choice, to be with him or not. She surprised them both when she agreed to give their relationship a real chance.

"She's always wanted kids." He stated "And she's gonna be the best mom, I can already tell but she's scared." Brian put his hands in his pockets and sighed.

"There's a part of her that wants your approval. She wants a real relationship with you, and for you to have one with your grandchild, she told me that today wouldn't go well but I can tell there's a part of her somewhere that was hoping that this would bring you guys together."

As Brian went to leave he turned back "I'm crazy about your daughter, Ms Benson. I love her more than anything. And I promise I'll do everything I can to make sure that her and our child are safe and happy."
