Author has written 2 stories for Harry Potter.

Hello, reader.

I have to confess, I am not sure what information you hope to glean by visiting my profile. I have difficulty imagining anyone being interested enough in my boring life to bother with clicking here. And yet, here you are. So what would you like to know about me?

Suffice it to say, I am a thirty-something year old veterinarian, who is in great need of some hobbies that have absolutely nothing to do with veterinary medicine. And this is one of them.

Writing has been something of a hobby since I was quite young. I still have a “book” I wrote and illustrated about my teddy bear when I was six. (Yeah, that’s right. I’m adorable.) I was that weird kid in school who looked forward to writing assignments. (But I absolutely hated writing against the clock during exams. Maybe that speaks something to why it takes me so long to put out new chapters?)

I credit Harry Potter with helping me to discover a love of reading. I am from that very lucky generation of children who actually grew up with Harry. No really. I was eleven when the Philosopher’s Stone first came out. And for the first three books, I was the same age as Harry when reading each of them. Then, of course, they started getting more complex and taking longer to write and publish, and I had to go through my teen years a little ahead of Harry and his friends. Always waiting impatiently for the next instalment, of course.

When I read books, I frequently find my imagination carrying me away from the story. My favourite part of reading is getting to know the characters, then letting my imagination say, “Yeah, that’s cool. But what if this happened instead? What if the character was put in this situation? What if the character had to make this decision?” When I read, I always have little side stories running amok in my brain.

Enter fan fiction. I first discovered fan fiction back in my early days of university when I was about nineteen. It took me a little while to build up the courage to post something. But I have been loving this supportive community ever since.

I suppose I should admit that I don’t actually read much fan fiction. I am picky about the types of stories I like—I find I have to believe that the character would act in the way the author is saying they would, or I have a hard time getting into it. I enjoy imagining what-ifs and what-happens-nexts while reading. But it is a fine line between this and reading characterizations from what I consider perfect works of art get butchered. There are a lot of characters that people have very strong opinions about on fan fiction that I just don’t understand where they started.

As such, my main goal in writing is to stay true to the characters that those before me have created with their far superior imaginations. I have only you, the reader, to tell me if I have succeeded in that respect. I very much hope that you will let me know if I seem to have missed the mark.

The demanding nature and long hours of my career is such that I do not find myself with a great deal of free time for writing. I do enjoy it, though, and I suppose that is the point. I know I am slow to update. I know it is frustrating for many who want the story to be over already so they can find out what happens. I don't do it to torture you. I just do it because real life comes first.

If you have reached this far without giving up from sheer boredom, there is nothing left but for me to thank you for showing so much interest and support in my writing. I am so grateful for my loyal readers who have followed my stories despite the months between updates.

Cheers!

Baguette

A note concerning Knowing Where to Look:

I really just wanted to assure any Knowing Where to Look readers out there that this story is very near and dear to my heart; I have no intention of abandoning it, not least because I have already written the ending and don't want to waste it. That being said, right now, I am really focusing on my other story, A Lonely Path, which has a bit more of a following. LP is getting near the climax and the plot is starting to move fast; consequently, people are really going to want faster updates. Most unfortunately, this is coming at the expense of KWtL.

I must therefore apologise to any KWtL fans out there. I'm afraid we must, for now, consider this story on hold. I know, I know. How very tedious of me. But please believe me when I say I haven't forgotten poor Gawain, and I have every intention of continuing his story once LP is finished. I'm sorry to keep you waiting, but I just don't have time to be updating both.

Miscellaneous Updates:

17.03.10 -- Couldn't sleep and randomly decided to draw up a floor plan for Remus's cottage to accompany A Lonely Path. Might come in useful for future chapters...or it might not. Take a look if you like. Go easy on me; I'm no architect. http:///_6zxaxKxWE1Y/S6C2fyzuEvI/AAAAAAAACgA/dydENNiUBSo/s720/floor20plan.jpg

and the outside...sort of...: http:///_6zxaxKxWE1Y/S6R76b6LpEI/AAAAAAAACgI/-qaAiR4wiY4/Remus27s20cottage202.jpg

01.12.12 -- Exciting news! You can now read A Lonely Path in Portuguese! If...you know...you are unlike me and can actually read Portuguese... You can find A Lonely Path translated by Jujuba L at http://www.fanfiction.ws/u/2690751/

05.06.12 -- Okay, I may have gotten overexcited about the new book cover images...

26.05.13 -- I know that it is frustrating for many of you that I do not update frequently. I just wanted to say that writing is my hobby, and I do have a career that has to come first. I'm working in the hospital now with about 65 hour work weeks, and quite frankly, writing is not the first thing that comes to mind when I get home at 21:00. Usually I'm more focused on supper and sleep. That being said, I have no intention of abandoning either of my stories. I do in fact write little snippets here and there, I just don't have time to sit down and write a whole chapter all at once. I appologise for keeping you waiting.
